I need to toss some new springs on a 99 c230 and I already know I'll go with either H&R again for this car or Eibach.
I'm not familiar with the popular Mercedes Forums but im looking for a solid site supported by an endorsed group buy section, So for any of you merc buffs around, someone point me in the proper direction to get a good price point on springs or to potentially buy, Otherwise ill order directly. |

Eibach or H&R are both options. The Eibachs will give you a bit more of a drop. Are you using the stock shocks with these?
Have you considered Coilovers?
If you are looking for more info, I would suggest checking out http://mbworld.org/forums/index.php
Great wealth of info there. But make sure you read or use the search option before posting questions. Pretty much everything has already been covered 100 times.

I also have a question about this,
Is it bad to use stock suspension with springs?
also what do you guys think of Tein springs?
Thanks |

They talk about shims, as if there may be smaller shims to create lowering oppose to springs..

yet our part number matches (not price though, and thats interesting as well) H&R's home site

These "shims" are just pads that come in one of four thicknesses. They are numbered through 1 to 4. 4 being the thickest and 1 being the thinest.
Using a thiner pad will lower your car a LITTLE bit...but not very much. You probably wouldn't even notice it. It would just make for a harsher ride.

Its not "bad" to use stock suspension with lowering springs...but they will wear out faster. Plus, its nice having the adjustability of after market shocks.
