Right now, I've got a 1991 Honda Accord EX, and I love it.

I've had it for two years, and it's sitting at 236xxx km, couple dings here and there, other than that it's fine. It's an automatic right now.
So, my question to you guys is, what should I do with it? Should I swap a B16 Vtec into it (assuming it would fit)? How much would this cost? How much would a manual transmission swap cost? Would it be worth it? Are parts easy to find for this car, are they relatively cheap? I don't know a whole lot about engines and swaps, but I'm definitely willing to learn.
Originally, I was planning to work through summer, and buy a civic EG hatch, and swap that, but now I a friend suggested I just swap my accord, instead of buying a whole new car.
I'm probably gonna get flamed, but whatever, hopefully I'll get a few constructive posts.
Give me your thoughts!
Thanks,
Dom. |

| if a h22 fits which i think it does. drop that in, if you want 5 spd you might as well just buy another car, the conversion is stinky no one likes to do them. |

| if you can get the swap for cheap, do it, otherwise get a new car |

| A 5-Speed conversion is not worth it. Yes an H22 will drop in with some work. If you are okay with auto, look for an H22 w/ auto tranny. If not? Buy a new car. |

| Don't fix something that's not broken. Sell it and buy something else or keep driving it. :dunno: |

| Okay, so an H22 would really be pointless with an automatic. Guess I'll start looking for a new car then. And Jeff, I'll pick yours up after summer if you still have it once some funds clear up  |

| From the looks of it, it doesn't look it's worth the time and/or money to do it. |

h22's do fit in them. They rip balls when the h22 swap is done in them. I would buy a new car though. |

bro theres like 10 accords at every junkyard u go to in this city u dont have to worry bout parts or any extreme costs!!! ive done a auto to 5 speed swap on a couple cars and its pretty straight forward unless your retarded lool. your car is really clean and if u have the funds and time u should go for it.
and i havent seen a swapped h22 accord yet at the meets and if there are any there few in numbers.
5 speed swap
coilovers
paint your moldings to match the car
h22 swap
also i really like that color some gold mesh or gold 5 spoke with a polished lip would look killer. do it up man:thumbup: |

| Yeah, but how much would a 5 speed swap cost? And wouldn't a 5 speed from another accord be too week for a H22? I probably couldn't do it myself..I don't know that about swaps, as I said in the original post. How much would a H22 itself + swap cost? |

u could pick up a h22 with a 5 speed tranny and all the fittings ud need for 3000 or less.
a 5 speed swap would be really easy since your pulling your motor already all u would need is a trip to the junker get the pedal a clutch master a slave the lines and the shaft going from the shifter to the tranny plus the shifter fittings and such realy straight forward and like many imports the holes and stuff to fit the pedal and everthing else are predrilled at factory even though yours is a auto it has the same chassis as a standard so all ud need is to bolt on the pedal to the oringinal place.
if your gonna be paying some1 to do all this your gonna be digging deep in your pockets id sugest trying to do it yourself with some friends and taking your time on it. |

| I wouldn't be able to do it myself. I don't know enough about it. How long would it take? Cause I need my car to get to work.. |

| more then 1 day for sure. if u knew what u where doin probably a week but labour is gonna cost u alot if u take it to a shop. if u dont have a second vehicle just sell this and buy a h22 prelude or a honda with a swap already. cheaper in the long run |

| Mmm, yeah. I don't have the knowledge or the time/money to do a swap. I really wanna keep this car, would it be worth it to rebuild the engine? |
|

| tokes |
| If you're paying a shop to do it, they'll probably charge you as much to rebuild your stock crap motor as a good shop would charge to swap in an H22. |

whats making you want to keep it so bad, if your that happy with it dont do anything.
also another swap that would be cheaper, is a f series sohc vtec.
or maybe just lower it and buy some rims, this way you keep your car, and will be more in love with it than you were before. |

That's what I wanna do, but I'm afraid that the engine's gonna die soon, it's still running strong, but high km's... |

| Just replace the current f series with a jdm f series or some crap. If you fell in love with your car follow your heart, it will know what to do. |
