Plans for the summer - Click HERE for Original Thread

Beagles
So even though i have my doubts on being able to get parts shipped fast.. kinda have a lay out of while ill be doin with my money this summer!... no more EXTREME stock for me :D

Engine:
Gonna rebuild the good ol B21(new pistons, rings, all that shizaz) for some turbo.
I wont be going the re sleeving route, instead i've decided to use a B20 block and just bore it out to the right size.

Turbo:
Probably gonna go with that standard set up from preludepower.:
http://www.preludepower.com/forums/...ad.php?t=229697
But maybe just upgrade it to a T3 (so i dont have to in the future)
With an inter cooler, and the slim rad fans.

Exhaust:
Im still searching for a place that sells a system for this gen. (i had heard that LSD motorsports did... but its not on the site, perhaps its one of those things i havta email them for?)

Depending on whether the rev limit changes on the car after rebuild in stuff (im dont think it would... but wouldnt the car be able to handle more? :dunno: ) ill get a new rpm gauge (not one of those big mofos though lol)
Definitely will need some boost gauges which i plan either to put in what seems to be unnecessary space under my stereo or ill figure out a way to make a detachable gauge set.
My theory on the detachable gauges is that it would work like a sliding drawer. There would be metal pieces in both the gauge set and the rail part (to connect to) from which the wires would be attached to... when slid on it would grant power to the gauges!

Ill definately need new suspension (i need new struts anyways lol) not quite sure what ill do for that though.

If you got some input feel free to shoot!
Also, please tell me if im missing something important lol because i am relatively new to this.

i can talk to mike at lsdmotorsports for you. i deal with him all the time. as for me just tune and drive it. im done messing with it for now its pretty much where i want it.. time to pay off some debt :P

Beagles
Thanks!
And im definately not looking forward to paying tuition lol.

i can't remember but there is a really really nice exhaust for your 3rd gen. I just don't know the name. don't waste your time with a new tac, your stock will be more than addiquate. Plus, you don't need to resleeve your motor since you don't have FRM lining in your cylinders. You can just bore it out

ALSO you engine can take a beating stock. I believe there are people running over 240ish completely safe on the stock engines. I would just get your head cleaned and all the valve train cleaned. It would cost you about $350 at EC automotive if you take the head off yourself. That itself is pretty easy and straight forward and i am sure some of us can help you out. if you want new pistons and rods though, go for it. It is just pretty damn pricey.

I would budget 3k for turbo crap and guages and about 1k for gaskets, new pumps like water pump, fuel pump, oil pump, and the head work.

4k and you should be able to hit 240whp easily. That is if 240whp is the safe number. i may be wrong, it may be a little lower or higher. Either way, in a 3rd gen you will be flying!

I thought that the B21A1 as FRM?
(i was gonna buy a b20a block to skip it)

But yeah when all of that is in and done with, i wont have to worry about my relatively poor acceleration :stickpoke

Prudz_lude
well maybe i am the retarded one on this issue. I must have been thinking about the b20. i would just buy one and skip the resleeve.

Beagles
yeah... is there anything except boring out the B20 block that i would need to do to make it strong for some good turbo?

Prudz_lude
other than the cleaning? i don't think so. the heads on prelude engines 3rd-5th can handle quiet the beating before you need to upgrade.

Beagles
k sounds grood

My plans for summer are to pick up the car from vancouver , fix my nice dent, throw on the new wheels, new hood, and headlights, and spray a lot..... My focus will be turned to a couple other projects for summer though. Hopefully there will still be enough time for the lude.

i read something about a 27.. or 28 hour day, it might help you get some more time!:p

Edit: Heres the diagram

mike3
Hahaha... Well it all depends what your mom looks like....
How long have you owned your lude for? I have a '89 4WS that Im rebuilding right now.

Beagles
Actually my mom bought it from a guy in 91, and promised me the car since i can remember (i was born in 90 lol.... yeah im young so what? wanna fight about it? ) Got it when i got my license!

Initially it gave me some trouble at first seen as how i never drove a standard before plus the fact that the clutch was and still is pretty worn (VERY easy to stall the car, but luckily ive overcome that issue)

So in the family, 17 years or so, just me alone probably like 6-7months

Prudz_lude
so it is an original owner lude? If so VERY nice!

mike3
So your going to go from Bone stock to turbo?

For the most part yes... engine first then turbo... so it would be a complete "HOLY FUCK I CANT TAKE THIS"

Beagles
oh and if it wasnt for drunk drivers, that lude would probably be a 69 mustang.....
