| There is no way around the suspension. If he tries to go to BC and get a licence there, the registries will need to talk to AB registries to check the driving record before they will give him a BC licence and they will find out about the suspension then. Saskatewan is the same as well. The only province im not sure of is Quebec. I know Ontario is the same as BC and Sask. If you get a suspension for the class 5 it will carry over to the class 6, at least thats what happened in my case, althought that was a few years ago. I think its pretty safe to assume that your buddy will not be able to get around the suspension. |

| Your friend can NOT operate a motorvehicle in Alberta with a suspended Alberta operators licence. |

QC is also the same. Ditto for NB, NS, PEI and NFLD. |

| also one more question is he able race on a closed circuit like stratotech and such with a suspended licence? or dos he need a valid drivers licence to enter in any racing event? |

well, just to clarify one point..if this was saskatchewan..which it is not..he could theoretically operate a motocross bike or an ATV as they do not have be plated in that province.
I know a guy that drove to work on his snowmobile or dirtbike for 2 years due to a suspended licence..now if he had been caught..It could have meant alot of trouble..
but it is a possiblity..especially in rural areas.. |

If the event requires you to have a valid operators licence, NO.
If the event does not require you to have a valid operators licence, as long as the track is on private property/race sanctioned then YES. |

Its usually up to the racing facility to decide if you can race without a licence. I know at Castrol on the oval side you dont have to have a licence to race. I know of more then a few under 16 year old drivers, and the track is 100% ok with it. Im not sure what the policy is for the drag strip or what stratotech's policy is. I would give them a call and find out what each tracks policy. |

Criminal Code section 259 reads:
"shall, in addition to any other punishment that may be imposed for that offence, make an order prohibiting the offender from operating a motor vehicle on any street, road, highway or other public place, or from operating a vessel or an aircraft or railway equipment, as the case may be, "
So it would seem that if you have an impaired suspension under the criminal code (there are provincial driving prohibitions that run concurrently by regulation, not criminal law) it applies to motor vehicle. That would seem to include a motorbike. I would imagine provincial regulatory schemes read motor vehicle too, not passenger car or what have you. |

| If your buddy found out what sections he was suspended under, then he could read it and determine. Just a gut feeling says that the provinces and feds have thought of these exact two scenarios and created means to stop them from happening. |

I know the FIA (autox & road course) licenses require a valid provincial drivers' license to initially get them, but I don't know about a renewal or whether the suspension would carry over... |

Typically, during the registration process, you have to show your driver's license...if you don't have one, you don't run.
Your buddy's walking for a few years... |
