supradriver
heres my cavalier that im rebuilding the engine

Heres the Interior

Whats your opinions on it?
do you think this build is worth it with a little time and money?

The Stig
No.

supradriver
well thats ..... honest.

EK9Hatch
I'll give you props for being interested in building your car. In that sense it doesn't matter what you drive...we all have the same desire/goal.

But in all honesty, I would probably pick a different ride to modify.

Just be prepared to be flamed... there are a lot of haters on here (myself included from time to time)

In all seriousness, it simply has no resale, and for all of the time and money you put in to it, you will have nothing but trouble from people bashing you.

If you like the car, go for it! There's nothing better than having a project car, you learn tons, and have a sense of accomplishment.

Do as you please =)

supradriver
so spend less money and just have fun with it. thats what i'll do

friedn00dles
ditch the cavalier completly and spend the cash on your supra. and probably many others will agree with that idea

2ndgenlude
cavalier isn't a popular platform (from what i know) in the tuner scene, but everyone has their own opinion on whats nice, and what cars they decide to build up. there will always be haters lol. If the cavalier is what you want to start on, go for it. Project cars are fun, but expensive lol. In my opinion i would choose a different platform, but thats just me.

Nissan Fanboy
I think you should pursue your dream. Your Cavalier is pretty nice.

Most people that tune their Cavaliers throw a lot of crap on it but yours is tastefully done.

AudiInProgress
Nice! Phoenix Gold Octane-R!

elrhyso
why are the subs in the back seat and not the trunk?

my opinion is: it would take a fair amount of money to make it fast, and a fair amount of money to make it look nice, and in the end it would be hard to sell if for anything close to what you put into it. i think your Supra probably has more potential. if you do decide to go with the Cavalier, just be tasteful in your mods and it should turn out nice. no ten foot wings, no spinners.

disclaimer: if anyone wants to refute this, don't bother, it's just my opinion.

2ndgenlude
you never get your money back from mods, doesn't matter what kind of car it is. its just the resale that hurts domestics so much.

92rolla
As long as you don't try to rice it up too much it's all good. Nothing wrong with a fast cav, they make good sleepers if you keep the look nice and clean ;)

and it looks like an old bandpass box so I don't think it'll sound good anywhere in the car.

mcmanus7
which engine does it have?? the 2200 or the 2.4L LD9??? imo modifying the 2200 is pointless considering it's gutless to begin with... if you have the 2200 find either the 2.2L Ecotec or a 2.4L LD9 to drop into it..... and if you don't feel like getting flamed hit up www.jbody.org

supradriver
my cavalier has the stock 2.4 DOHC, and i just plan for a new intake, exhaust and clutch kit, as well as some minor things such as pistons, valves and rings. cosmetics will be a cheep paintjob with my buddy(don't worry he knows what he is doing), some new rims and tinted window, over all 2000$-3000$ not out of my price range. also this was my first car and kind of special

the subs are screwed down to a wooden platform that is covered with a carpet-like material...their are no backseats

Fazda
lol its not my first choice in car, but hey, i modded out my 89 ford probe gt. lol to each their own, thats why u always have one nice car as a back up car to drive..

WTF guy? It's called a hobby, it's never a waist of time and/or money if you get something out of it. A Cav may not be the best vehicle you could start a build with but it's got 4 wheels and a motor, and that's all that matters, the rest is what you make of it.

true but a cavalier as a base model ? sure its the daily driver of the century but why pour more money into it even if it may be for joy it just seems like a waste of time to me but if your dead set on the car by all means do it and dont look back sorry but im an out spoken cavy hater so dont listen to me.

supradriver
i was thinking of fixing it up low performance and cheep maybe a paintjob, take my subs out and give it to my girlfriend.

13B'sand4G63's
so no more rebuild ? most cavys i see on the road are piloted by girls but its up to you

supradriver
oh i have to rebuild it but mostly for experience, the engine is currently already out of it and the clutch is destroyed(i drove the fuck out of that car) so ya stock parts maybe a performance clutch if i find a cheep one , stuff like that.
