Everything was fine untill I hit Moron Park.
Here is what I saw....
A new Dodge pickup 4X4 Rolled and in the ditch, 10 seconds later I see another truck, slid way and the hell off the bend, 1 minute later I am behind the "Griswalds" beater pickup carying an oversized load of spruce tree branches, swerving/stradeling baseline and almost side swipes this truck in front and in the lane to my right of me.
Yup! I got picks of all. Will post them later tonight. :D
I live in Sherwood park and I found the roads were fine. At lunch they started plowing all the main streets, residential streets are still a mess. I was so happy at school today, normally I never get a parking space and have to park down the road in an overflow lot, today I actually got a spot! |

Got stuck 7 times today, if you include the fact my car is sitting outside ... stuck.
I'm taking the bus tomorrow.
Main roads are fine but anything other than those, I've been screwed. It was also a lot better in the morning than later in the day. |

| hahaa oh man i went outside today... my car had snow up past the bottom of the door.. well past the bottom of my bumper.. I just plowed through it though, good winters + gentle on throttle and you are ok! I drove into my garage which had a good 6-8 inches of snow, which is well past my bumper and all I did was snowplow it into my garage. I dont see how so many people are getting stuck.. my entire chassis/engine bay was full of snow.. and i had a good foot and a half tall pile infront of my car from plowing down my alley |
|

I'm gonna have some shovelling to do. I havent moved the Teg since Friday. Theres a two foot drift surrounding the car. I didn't even go out today.
But, the more i think of it, the less I wanna. I may...have to take the bus.
The part that worries me about driving tommorow, is getting downtown. Gotta go down a hill, then up another one. Unless I go 20 min out of my way. |

| hwy 21 to ft sask was literally a skating rink. there was prob 1" of ice on the entire highway. everyone was going 30km/h and still sliding. as soon as you hit the brakes you turned into a curling rock, there was no stoping! |
|
|
| cupcake |
| Screw shovelling the snow. My front bumper is broken anyways and my rear bumper is being repainted so I'll just plow my driveway. |
|
|
| deathwarden5 |
Sweet!!!!!

There is no hope. I feel like sitting on my ass all day.
Good news is: Cause it hasn't moved since it started snowing, theres dry pavement under it. So I can get enough speed on the dry stuff, and blow right through. |

Well the snow just proved itself useful I got word from my boss that we're not going into work for at least the first half of the day. Good thing I check my phone when I wake up (4:30 am). Another good thing is at least I didn't cheap out and I parked in the parkade at the airport instead of out in the cheap lot.
Update: Woot snow day, no work |

| So my car got stuck on my driveway. Then, as I was plowing the residential streets, I heard my car say "You will pay for this, bitch." |

My bumper's already broken beyond repair. The new one's been ordered, so really, it doesn't matter. My car went from being a pretty little princess to a snow plow. No wonder it hates me.
All I can say is that all of this is beyond hilarious now. |

I agree... my neighbours / edmonton must love me... I honestly heard my car NOT scrape maybe... once on the way to work... all the tall cars made a nice snow pile between the ruts.. so good old codys civic turned that tall snow pile into a much shorter wider one
Not to mention my driveway, and back alley is all clear and flat now with a nice imprint of my engine / tranny / underside of car |

so awesome...i had my bumper and sideskirts painted, a front lip installed, cf hood thrown on, my summers on just about a week ago...then this fucking shit happens! I cant even exit my parking lot, let around drive around...

Heh my SUV with AWD/4lock/4lo has been unstoppable thus far, I've only put into 4lock to get going really fast on a snow straight way(turned onto a highway) and I've got the all season Yoko Geolanders that came with it... |

I actually didn't get stuck at all today. After I finally got onto Terwillegar Drive, it wasn't really that bad. The residential sucked. I got to school, where you have to drive through residential to park, and almost got stuck at a stop sign. Almost got stuck getting into a spot. On my way home when I got to the stop sign again, I was like, fuck that, I aint stoppin.

Nearly happened to me. After I ordered, I went to move up to the window, nothin but spinning. After some skill-full maneuvering, I got goin. There was the one spot by the order box thing, where other people must have been spinning, so there was a dip in this one spot from people who just kept spinning out. |

i went to a hockey tournament in olds this weekend before the snow hit
but on the way back i saw 39 fucking vehicles in the ditch and thats no exaggeration. 39 vehicles over a 200km stretch.
secondly fuck you all. im in training right now and i have to be outside in the middle of a fucking field covered in snow at 6:15 every day to drag tractor tires, copious amounts of situps and pushups, fighting, grappling and running for kms on end.
you dont have it that bad if you at least get to go to an office job. |

HAHA Sucker! I can say that.. cause I've been there.. so has any Army personal. :P
Ya'll remember that snow storm Jan 2007? Between Morinville and St Albert I stopped counting at 50 cars... it was like a friggin parking lot one car angle parked in the ditch every 8-15ft.. even huge 4x4s with only 1 wheel in the ditch, rest where on snow covered road. So comparitively people are doing good this year. :P |

As i was leaving Southgate around lunch, I saw this BMW (either 6 series or an M5, not quite sure). He was stuck on that back road, between the mall and the school. I was turning left when I saw this, and thought maybe i sohuld go help him. But then I looked at the street, and I honestly couldn't. If I stopped there, I would have been stuck for sure. I really did want to help the guy out, but I didn't want to get stuck myself.
That storm in Jan, I went into the ditch on my way back from Camrose with the Teg. I just bought it, and I put it in the ditch. I couldn't believe it. Luckily it was at the gas station, cause I was trying to pull in. So, this guy with his big Dodge Ram saw me go in, and pulled me out. |

i've had to push 5 vehicles infront of my place, saw two vans and a smart car in the ditch thisd morning between the Whitemud and SPF, an accident involving a camaro, chevy pickup, and civic, in the middle of an intersection, plus a taxi being pulled out by a wetherford (sp) truck on the way home..
To you all.. Slowing down and thinking about your actions is the best possible solution., and if you MUST drive... be smart about it.
drive 10km under the speedlimit (I was down to 20kph passing the vans), and using 4x4 when you're getting into the deep shit (before being stuck) without spinning tires will get you around ALOT better than just trying to zip around everywhere while being 5 minutes behind to where ever you're supposed to be.
Poor kids.
and finally, when someone is trying to push you.. dont just full throttle it constantly.. work WITH the pushers and use the ROCKING motion to help get out... but of course, good drivers are the ones who stop to push out the stuck ones. |

The main roads are pretty good now, residential roads still suck. I haven't been stuck once in my 626 on all seasons, maybe all you guys should throw some sandbags in your Bimmers...
Funny story, I had to get gas today so I go to Superstore to fill up. The entire time that I was filling up (about a minute) there was a lady sitting in the parking lot, wheels spinning, motor bouncing off the rev limiter trying to get up a hill. I was laughing so hard because her one wheel was just spinning to hell making an awesome high pitched whine only to be interrupted by the sound of pulled timing when she hit redline again and her revs dropped. I think she finally just threw it in reverse because after paying she was gone. There was also some loser in a lowered s10, he got stuck at least 3 times right in front of the store... If you have that little traction you shouldn't be on the road. |
