| has anyone ever had a problem with their screen going all static, then jumpy, then after a few days of that just went really dark? like you could still make out the brighter colors but your screen was pretty much dead? is this a normal wear and tear issue? |

Reseat your video card.
My machine does the same thing... it's caused by my video card working it's self loose. Hot and cold changes + vibration = loose connection and artifacts. |

This is a notebook?
Sounds to me like the backlight power inverter died. |

You can order parts off ebay and the like... It might be a cost effective solution to repair it... Also, it may not be dead, it could just be loose from excessive use. Flipping a notebook screen open and closed a million times DOES wreak havoc with ribbon cables and other sensitive notebook parts.
You could try taking the screen apart, cleaning and checking all connections as you go, put it all back together... I've fixed about a dozen different models of notebook by doing that. |

| i'll get my dad to do it. he said he would but, i guess i got my procrascination skills from him. meaning he won't be doing it anytime soon. and i'd feel more comfortable taking apart something that wasn't comprised mostly of plastic (yes i've broken countless electrical connectors in cars). i'm in no rush to fix it honestly, my dad upgraded our desktop so that's what i'm using now. |

| Notebooks are pretty easy to work on, I used to be daunted by their small size and fragile-esque appearance, but once I started working on them regularly... I realized they're pretty tough. |

| yeah, i was fiddling around with the keys and well. i thought they were sturdy enough until i broke my left arrow key. now it's completely effed and i can't use it. i had to like put the spongy piece under and makeshift the key on top. whenever my hands get clammy the key sticks to my fingers. i'm contemplating just buying a whole new notebook seeing as how my friend usually finds decent $300 notebooks at her work. would you be able to take a look at it some time? |

| New notebook might be the best solution... But if you drop your notebook off at my office, I can most definately take a look at it for you. |

He's just another dude I've done work for in the past. Thusly, he knows where my shop is located, make sense? |
