Unusual Parking Ticket..Advice Please - Click HERE for Original Thread

chewy
I read a letter recently from the City of Edmonton Bylaw ticket administration that I commited an offence of "improper parallel parking" on March 24.
However, I never knew about this ticket until i recieved it in the mail. (I didn't get the typical ticket on the windshield)
In addition on that date I remember I did nothing to breach any parking laws and believe there was a mistake of some sort, as I always obey parking laws. The due date to pay the 50.00 fine is April 23.

I would like to fight this ticket, any tips/advice would be appreciated. Thankyou

Here is a better and more useful link for this situation as you can not fight the ticket at the CP. I fought and won. :D

I wish you the same success.

One day son, you will achieve my level of greatness and be able to quote yourself too.

In the mean time while you are practicing, I will go and find some more posts for me to quote my self on. :stickpoke

If you didn't get the ticket on the windshield, it's tough to get the actual information as to what you did or did not do, however, the notice should have the location, and infraction.

It's possible that it's a case like GOT_BOOST's where the area wasn't well marked, and you didn't KNOW that you did something incorrect -- even though you did. In that case, you'd want photos of the area that you parked in which would indicate why you didn't know. That would be adequate, I think to get the fine dismissed.

It's also possible that (It happens!) someone wrote down a license plate incorrectly. I once got a parking ticket in the mail for being improperly parked in the city here for a car that I hadn't owned in over a year. (The plate was on a shelf in my basement at the time.) I had never even owned the make and model (Ford Escort) of vehicle in my entire life. The only explanation that I can come up with is that the plate was incorrectly recorded by whomever wrote the ticket.
