Well, it's a good thing they're changing just about everything about its proportions. I remember Lutz saying it was more aerodynamic in reverse than forward. That's pretty pathetic, since they were trying to design a MPG ringer. Anyway, I think it may be the coolest car made in the last 50 years, technologically speaking. The sad thing is I remember asking a few people back when I was living in Edmonton, "Why don't they just make an all electric car with an onboard generator?". Two years later the E-flex program debuted in the Volt concept. Do I feel like I missed out on something? Not really. It's not like I was going to make a concept for Detroit. Just sad that a Mechanical Drafter from the sticks of Guysborough thought about it before any of the Automakers out there did. Of course, my idea was to use a two-cylinder turbo diesel (under a litre) that would run at around 1000rpm on a gigantic generator. Solid torque is all you need for something like that.

So if it's an electric car why does it have an exhaust pipe? GM=FAIL!!! They suck and will continue to suck. A lot of talk! Sure it seems "cool" but it will be another shitty GM product with a shitty interior and shitty life expectancy and shitty resale value.

That's fuckin hilarious. It's an electric propulsion vehicle, purely electric. If you drive it like any other electric car, as in under so many km's in a day, you'll never burn a drop of gas. But if you want to go on vacation, you don't have to own a second vehicle or stop to charge, which would take hours with any other electric. So, would you buy a Hybrid rated at 47mpg, a pure electric at 105mpg (Tesla's equivalent) but seriously limited in its use, or one of these?

Oh yeah, and then you compare range. A traditional Electric will be at its best to go 100 miles, but the E-flex, which has a small 12G fuel tank, is shooting for 400miles. But if you want something without a tailpipe (attached to the car) you can spend $100G on a Tesla, that may or may not have a working 2-spd transmission (they've yet to pay Magna for the ones they got) and a range of 221 miles... and a very bleak future, if the last year has been any kind of example of their business management.

From Edmunds
The vehicle Tesla is starting with is not a family car. With a price tag starting at $98,950 and an EPA-rated range of 220 miles (more like 180 miles if you like to goose it every once in awhile and down around 150 if you regard speed limit signs as mere suggestions), the 2008 Tesla Roadster makes most sense as a second, third or fourth (or fifth) car for weekends and the occasional short commute.

A fifth car? I'd imagine any current volume producer would avoid that segment like the plague. Anyway, I continue to think this is the best idea yet, as far as fuel efficient motoring goes. An electric that won't leave you stranded and lets you drive as far as any other IC car does when you need to.

AudiInProgress
Rims are too big... Fenders are too small... Windows are too narrow... Having the rear wheel right at the very back edge of the car is gay...

Yah for sure, its no Sentra, those are some top notch cars

GStarRocket
lol... I bet electricity theft is going to be a huge problem in the future.

That car could essentially be free to drive if you stole electricity from your neighbour everynight hahahahah

How did my car get involved with my remarks? My sentra is alot better than any POS cobalt, pursuit, focus, etc. The only good thing that ever came out of the top 3 were their muscle cars and trucks. Everything else and nowadays is garbage. Of course that's my opinion. You don't have to agree with it and frankly I don't give a shit if you do or don't.

Yeah, who would drive a Corvette, GT, or Viper? I mean, gross.
