$50, 5 minute camera mount - Click HERE for Original Thread

aarrgghh
Well seeing as I couldn't put on the stoptech's (due to the snow :() I built a quick external/internal camera mount.

First the parts needed. For my old mount I bought a compact tripod from London Drugs:

While at Princess Auto to get a bleed kit I found body panel puller in the body work tool section that was perfect and only $15 bucks (the rest went to the tripod):

Assembly:

Remove the tripod head from the tripod:

Find a bolt that's 1/2 inch longer than the thickness of the puller handle and the same thread as the tripod head.

Drill a hold in the puller handle for the bolt:

Put the bolt through the hole:

Attach the tripod head and tighten. The end result:

Should be able to get some interesting autocross footage depending on how much I feel like risking my video camera :).

wow that looks pretty good! I'd like to see some footage after you test it out. I was thinking of ways to make a mount for outside my car too. tell me if it falls off or not k? :D

Very cool! do you think the camera will shake a lot with that setup?

I came back from Ottawa this weekend (25 * and sunny) to this frozen hell. I spent last night pulling off the Enkeis and bolting up the Blizzaks for further duty in April... madness.

Regards,

I don't think its going to fall off, its rated for around 200 pounds and when I had in on a panel it would probably bend the panel first (which is why it was in the body work parts section).

I'm hoping the shake is a little less then I get with my headrest post mount. It shakes up and down due to the arm comming forward and the seat itself shaking.

I'll definately post some video when I get some.

Very nice.

That would make some nice auto crossing vids! :D

To quote Neilson: "Ah hA!".

It was only through sheer procrastination on my part this month that the Sentra's winters never left their service yet. Thus no tire changing required this weekend.

That's awesome!

Edit: Any worry of the plastic handle cracking?

I've though of that. The handle is hollow cylinder with a around 3/8 wall. The plastic seems fairly high density so I don't think it will, however if cracks appear to be an issue I can fill the handle with an epoxy. That should deal with it.

That looks great.

My mount that uses a single suction cup holds a camera with little to no shake. I think that will work very well.
