This maybe a little too vintage for most people here but I remember back in the day, getting on my BMX bike, making a summer afternoon trek to the Red Rooster to purchase this magazine...
It was such a kick ass magazine/comic book. An awesome inspiration for any artist. I would draw for hours after I read the latest issue. One guy in particular, George Trosley , was my favorite artist. His artwork was awesome. He had "How to draw a hotrod" articles which I read and practiced from all the time.
Also, some of the story series were awesome. The magazine had a MAD Magazine feel to it in some respects but that fact it was all about automobiles and directed to car crazy fanatics made it a kick ass magazine. Also it was back in the day where the whole magazine was hand drawn, hand inked and when the whole craft of drawing was true to form.
Not sure if anyone else bought/read these, but I sure did and I am soo happy I still have all of my copies. I look through them every once in awhile. I only wish I had more. Any one got any for sale? :D |

Its funny - when I read the title of the thread - I immediately thought of CARtoons!
I miss this one - I had a bunch of old issues around somewhere - not sure if I still do or not. |

| If you have no use for them, I would be more than glad to take them off your hands :D |

I was just talking about these mags here at work last week.
Most people are too young to even know about them.
Gotta love the transfers to make your own T shirt!!! |

Wow, this sure brought back some memories. My experience was basically the same biking down to Red Rooster or Macs & picking up Cartoons, hockey cards or WWF stickers & a slush. Good times.
I looked it up & apparently there have been new Krass & Bernie episodes printed in Car Craft since 2005. I'm now debating whether I should read them again or just leave it as a good memory. |

Nostalgia is best left in the past.
I've been nostalgic about alot of things (including CARToons) and trust me, memory has a way of making things better than they really are :)
(Car Wars, old comics, old movies, old shows etc, they were great in their time, and everytime I've been disappointed when I looked at them now...) |

For me, not so! I flipped through my copies awhile back and I wasn't disappointed that I did. What I did feel was disappointment that this magazine wasn't STILL around. Hence the topic and discussion :D
I wish the comic book industry wasn't so fucked nowadays. If someone could gather a bunch of quality artist together and revive this magazine or bring in a spinoff, that would be super cool.
Oh well, that's my million dollar idea when I win the lottery :) |
