Ok seriously, some people are just amazing. Amazingly retarded.
So lately, I've been selling off a bunch of stuff I've accumulated around the house. Up until now, every single one of my sales online have been flawless. I'm really anal about keeping my shit in good condition so everything is mint and I also sell my shit for cheap so that it moves quickly. So everyone's happy, at least until this time. I was selling an old computer which I put up asking $125, a really good deal, cuz I see similar systems usually going for $250.
Anyway, this guy calls and says he wants it. Fine, he shows up in a beat, riced out Neon with only $95 in his pocket. Who the hell shows up with without enough cash after driving across town to buy something? First bad sign. But whatever, guy says he needs to visit the bank machine. He comes back a few minutes later with $20, claiming he will give me the other $10 tomorrow, he needs to wait to get paid, blah blah blah. Second bad sign. What kind of poor asshole can't fish out $10 especially to paid the agreed upon price? Again, whatever, I let him take the computer anyway, it's only $10. As I expected, I never heard from him the next day like he promised.
But here's where sketch-bud stoops even lower. He has the audacity to call me a couple days later, claiming the computer I sold him didn't work. He goes on to insist that I knew the computer was busted and that I owed him a refund. I told him, no, the computer was fine, I let you check it out at my house, if it doesn't work anymore, it's nothing I did. The computer worked fine for me for years and if it was broken, I wouldn't sell it. He says he'll "tech the fuck out of it." Yeah right, guy didn't even know half of what I was saying when I started describing socket 939 to him.
So then I get another call in the evening, and guy is going phone-thug on me and telling how he's got a big family and how he's gonna get his satisfaction even if I don't take back the computer. At one point, he actually said that he grew up on the streets and could hustle me...whatever that means. Oh yeah, here's another good one, apparently he has friends that are such intense hackers that they will make sure I never own a computer again. Ok.
I'm a pretty calm guy so I didn't lose my cool, even though dude was saying the most ridiculous shit. I asked him why I'd take him into my condo and give him my phone number if I was out to scam him. I asked him why I'd bother trying to scam him for a hundred bucks when I own a condo worth several thousand times that amount. But reasoning with these people is impossible.
So now I was left with a dilemma. On one hand, if he hadn't been a total dick when he called me, I probably would have taken the computer back right away, plus there is a small chance that something happened to the computer that I wasn't aware of, since it's old and I haven't used it for the last two years. On the other hand, I didn't want to deal with some dick dishing out weak thug threats.
In the end, I told him I'd take back the computer if he quit making accusations about me and quit the thugging. Better to not get hung on principles than have some low life skulking around my building in his free time looking for me. So he shows up and guess what, tries to gyp me again. He "forgets" to bring the keyboard back. But I caught that shit and he agrees to take $10 less.
So now, even though guy is out of my hair, I'm still pissed because I have to hook the computer back up and hope he didn't fuck it up too badly. I'll probably just part it out, test each component individually, and sell them all separately.
Moral of the story: back the hell away from shitty buyers at the first sign of trouble. If I had just turned him away when he pulled that all that cheap-shit while paying me, I wouldn't have had this huge waste of time on my hands.
PS. Anyone interested in a cheap computer parts? AGP video card, 333 DDR ram, TV tuner/PVR card, cheap SB Audigy, cheap 80gig hard drive, thermaltake Volcano cpu fan, cd burner, dvd drive, and more. I'll take it back if it doesn't work as long as you don't act like a cheap street thug about it. ;) |

That is what I hate the most! When people show up 5-15 dollars short on a item.
We agreed on a price, don't fuck around. Go to the bank machine get cash, then go to a convenience store and get change.
Is the guy on the boards here? |

I'm really not the meathead fighting type at all.
He saw my ad on kijij. He might be on here...drives a beat old black Neon with a ricer exhaust. Went by the name of Dave, but his email had a different name on it. Sketch once again...
I'm a little choked that I didn't stick to my guns, but then again my life is busy, drama-free, and I'd like to keep it that way. I don't have time to spend on people like this. |

Bit of an update. I feel like someone that's had their car stolen and taken for a joyride.
The computer still seems to work and most of the important stuff is still there, but the power cord is missing, a few case screws are missing, there were a whole bunch of tiny screws floating around inside the case (good thing I checked before they shorted anything out), the wireless card was uninstalled, the hard drive was held on by 2 screws, the RAM wasn't clipped in, the hard drive was wiped, and one of the DA cables from the burner drive is gone now...
But I've got everything hooked back up and luckily everything seems to be working so far... |

| That's fucking bullshit. I have had people do that shit to me too... Agree to pay $30 for something, then they only show up with $25 or something like that, and I'm just like... What the fuck ever, give me the $25, take this shit, and get the fuck off my doorstep. It pisses me off, but I don't have the time or energy to fuck with assholes like that, especially when I've probably already told other buyers that they're out of luck because there's somebody else already coming to buy said item. |

I sell stuff out from my house but I make sure that they are in good condition prior to sale. If there is something wrong, I have no problem giving a refund... IMO the fact that you are willing to sell out of your permanent residence shows that you stand behind whatever you are selling... For larger items like a car, if you insist that we meet at a motel and all I have is a name and an unlisted pay-as-you-go cell number, sure as fuck I wont buy it off you no matter how good the "deal" is.
As for the ethug'ing bitch, he was more than likely talking out his ass. He's a loser but you did the right thing, its not worth the slight risk of getting stabbed over $100.
When I am selling online I screen potential buyers before I meet them. If you email/txt/message me and I do not like the way you talk, I will back out at that point. Sure profiling isn't foolproof but if you communicate with me in an unprofessional manner, and cannot put a complete sentence together, you are not worth my time. |

I got another call from that low life again. The retard left his Windows CD in the computer. Geez...just when I thought he was out of my hair.
I really should have sent him away when he pulled that shit with not having enough money at the beginning, but I wanted to finish the sale. I just spent the last couple hours taking everything out of the computer, testing them individually, and packing the, up for sale separately. I noticed the mobo was screwed onto the case with 2 mounting screws...when it started bending as I unmounted the CPU. It still works, but I won't risk selling that...thankfully everything else is works fine and has no signs of damage.
Anyone wanna take some economically-priced computer parts off me? I spent a lot of time taking the stupid pics haha.

I put a camera up for sale on Craigslist and Kijiji a week ago and got flooded with these spam emails from "buyers" who basically all wrote a carbon copy response to my ad, saying they were browsing and came across my ad.
They offered my asking price (more in lots of cases) and said they would be responsible for sending someone to pick it up and give me a certified cheque. Fricken pissed me off, them wasting my time. I actually led one on for about 4 days making him think I would sell him the camera. I should have sent an empty box with "certified camera" written inside.

I just wanna knock those people out. |

When I post stuff here on 780, I expect to get lowballed. Considering the average age on this site is about 14, its expected.
I simply ignore these clowns and wait for a reasonable offer.

Thats how douchebags work though. Honestly, if someone was selling a 97 Supra TT for $15,000. People would still try to low ball it for like $12k lol

you realize the average age is actually 20-25.....people are just cheap.
I personally sort of think it is funny. It pisses me off, but i have had a few incidents that i have got some good pleasure telling people to get off my property, or simply tell them, to bad i guess you are to poor to afford something cheap. A few of you guys know one of my stories about a terrible lowball. You would be suprised at how funny it is to tell someone to get lost and reject a lowball in person. After all they did just drive across the city (almost everyone seems to live in the northend that buys parts from me) and how embarrasing it must be to be the cheap ass lowballing you that gets rejected and walks away empty handed.
Nexopia hands down tops for these types of people. 780 not so bad. It has proven to be terrible for selling actual cars. |

| Remember that guy on here that lowballed me on my EL winter set? He comes on here and starts making a thread against me because he didn't want to pay $50 for a set of wheels. I sold the set the next day for my asking price. |

YES. Typical story...
People try to lowball me AND ask for me to deliver it them in the North. I can't stand when people think they don't need to lift a finger to buy something.
The one time I did deliver a part to someone's doorstep, they had the decency to give me an extra $20 for my troubles. |
