Just wondering if anyone knows about how much duty taxes are added on to car parts bought in the states, knowing our government it'll prolly be like 50% lol:wtf:,

7% gst at the border plus 7%-14% depending upon country of origin
USA manufactured parts = 7%
Japan manufactured parts = 14%
Plus brokerage fees |

Depends on what company you buy from. I have bought from a few companies and all I paid was the exchange. No shipping, duty, GST...nothing.
Also ask if they have paypal. You dont pay any GST using paypal even if you are ordering from a canadian company. |

| Because of "Free Trade" parts manufactured in the US should technically be duty free. Brokage and GST are unfortunately unavoidable in most cases. |

K Thanks,
Ya I guess 'Free Trade' isn't what its supposted to be, but 14% isn't that bad....

Buying parts in the US and getting them shipped to Canada sucks!
I bought a used transmission cooler from a guy in California for $40 US, and I received a bill for $42.08 CND for brokerage fee's & duty.
So, more or less I paid twice as much as I was anticipating on paying. |

ya, well you shouldn't order parts that inexpensive. Brokerage fee is the same on a $300(US) purchase as a $10.
Free trade my ass, duty is actually 8%, not 7%, brokerage fees vary and they have different categories. Category 1 is $1-$300 i think, which is about $60 from UPS, it goes up from there. |
