What are the dangers about driving on the street with a cage?

Crushing limbs in an accident?

im curious as well?

Slow Cruiser
I think the worst thing that could happen, is that your head will bounce off a bar and do some damage that way even with padding. But I think its still safer with a cage then with out even on the streets and that is my canadian .02 cents worth

95IntegraRS
The dangers of driving with a cage are:

It's stupid.

A roll cage is meant for race cars. You should always wear a helmet when you are surrounded by metal bars. And if you think padding is going to help, you are sadly mistaken.

I like how people think its going to make their car handle 10x better or something... I'd rather preserve my life.

this is the first mod on it?

AudiInProgress
How much interior room did you lose by installing that shit? Damn, you went from 1 cubic foot of interior room to 0.3cu ft.

Refresh
Is that a Cusco roll bar re-painted? And are you missing the front piece?

STiPWR
Looks ok, I personally would have upgraded some other things first....

I'm being honest....... Should I lie?

I would have done suspension, or put the money towards a turbo kit. I'm not a huge fan of cages for daily drivers.... Sorry I have an opinion.

Nobody's expecting much from a N/A 350z anyways... lol JOKING.

I personally prefer if people be honest with my mods... Its my car, I like to know what I can improve on... or if I made bad judgement. I've returned a full carbon fibre kit for my car because people helped me realize it wasnt a good choice. (fitment, price, etc)

If I dont agree with the critisizm, it really doesnt fucking matter. Its an opinion. Take it for what its worth. In the end you are the only one who has to like your ride.

He has body mods comin too..

I think the car just needs to be more agressive to pull it off.. The lip kit will definately help that.

ehrgeiz
Is there no door bar on that bolt-in cage?

To be honest I don't understand why you would want that in there? If you’re doing solo I, II or lapping you at most will need a roll bar (only if your car is mod, IIRC).

Even if you planned on racing door-to-door in the future from what I can see I don't think that cage will pass tech. Especially if there's no door bars! I really don't think that type of bolt-in would benefit the chassis all that much either.

Seems to me you're taking the risk of getting brain damage for no real reason or benefit at all. Why not just put a roll bar in there?

That's my 0.2 cents, but at the end of the day it's your brain.

arabian_ryda
i believe this car is tracked often.

arabian_ryda
and i dont see how every1 is getting there panties in a twist that cage is pretty high up and i beat it tight to the frame of the convertible top so theres a slim chance he would be hitting his head on any of it in a roll.

its a s2000 if anything hes gonna be sitting pretty low his heads not gonna be sticking out past the top of the windshield.

looks good fadi good job man.:)

EDISKRAD EHT
Judging by the screw drivers holding it together, it looks like it may bolt together and apart.

If it comes out, and it's just put in on track days for added safety I think it's a pretty good idea. He might not be expecting it to pass tech as a functional cage, but it could just there to be better than nothing at all.

Or I could also be way out to lunch.

3rdgen1
how does the softtop go up with the rollcage

btw nice s2000

Spoonin
just letting every one know this is not my first mod on my car or the first mod i ordered so far....it was the first one to be in stock so i picked it up

i also have coming

-mugen style cf hood
-cf trunk
-oem cf lip
-red Recaro Pole position seat(with Bride RO rails and adjustable side brackets which makes the seat sit about 1.5 to 2 inches down, which also means my head will not be any where close to the bars)
-sparco 323 steering wheel
-and wheels i still havent made a choice on yet because im so indecicive....

i have been thinking about gettin more suspension mods but i like the way the car is right now....its pretty forgiving at the track..and aaron i dont want to save up 7000 dollars just to make 300 whp on a turbo....

again i have way more things on the way....this just happened to be the only thing in stock at the time....and Dana yes it is a bolt in not a weld in..i can be taken out in between track days and its not that hard to to...

i wasnt expecting it to be the full over the top cage as it says 5 point on the box and teh 5 point is only the half cage...this is not the first time i have been bashed for buying something on here so im really just tuning most ppl out...thanx for the CC tho...everything is appricieated....not like im gonna come on here and say fuck everyone who doesnt like my car....

Driven
I like how he said don't talk about the dangers of a cage... yet pretty much everyone commented on the dangers of a cage in a street car.

Also i have no idea what your talking bout jayson.. i can get into my car just fine.. even shawn fit into my car.

Honestly.. i could get eaten by a shark tomorow or get struck by lighting... no regrets.

EK9Hatch
Fadi, it will only look good if you keep the screw drivers in place and slap a few hamburger decals on it.

Cages do not belong in streetcars, espicially if you have passengers...

And most certainly dont belong when not required by the events you attend.

Any passengers who enter a caged vehicle are aware of the consequences. Thanks again for the hate when clearly he asked politely not to speak about it.

Are they now, I highly doubt you explain to every person that sits in your car the psossible risks.

I give a fuck if you think I'm 'hating' on caged street cars even though Fadi asked not to mention it, did he honestly think no one would point out the potential risk, doubt it.

GOD stfu already.

SpeedwayRacing
I totally agree with Dean, Cages don't belong in street cars. In all honesty anyone that is serious enough about racing is going to have a second car to race with. Which might need a cage. Personally I have not put a cage in my track car just because I am not planning to road race it any time in the next year or two so why add the extra weight. Until the time that Fadi Has his road racing license and is planning to take part in WCMA race events the cage is nothing more then a huge piece of RICE, and waste of money that could be spent elsewhere. Like suspension, seat, brakes.. you know things that might actually might make the car a little faster then a little slower.

arabian_ryda
if the occupants head is anywhere near the CAGE when the occupant(s) are prolly secured in there seat then it is NOT installed right or made properly/design flaw.

Refresh
Most cages are designed to be used with a harness not seat belt... I had a roll bar that I was going to put into my car but opted not to as I realized that there was more negative than positive points from having it. I am sure he will be fine as long as he uses a harness with the recaro bucket... And who wants passengers in their cars anyways... :dunno:

... but if it was my car (and its not) I would have used the money towards that hardtop. Either way though - the s2000 should be sick when all done!

SpeedwayRacing
If the person was held in with a 5 or 6 point harness a real cage likely isn't a problem. When your wearing a standard seatbelt things change. Sorry, we posted at the same time there.

Roll bars should go into the dash...... Free up leg in and out room and cleans it up a little more....... Just a thought...

GOOD GOD

ask non boosted....

when you hit your head cage or not its going to hurt.

and plus its removable he will be taking it out during street driving days ive talked to him about it.

i personally wouldnt put a cage on a non-dedicated race car but hell if your going to hit your head either way you will be borked.

ChromeDragon
Something tells me that doing a head-grind on the pavement in a convertible would suck a whole lot more than hitting your head on a cage in the case of a rollover.

I do agree that it's not something a street car should have though. There's a reason I still haven't caged the Corolla, because I do like driving it on the street still. Once it's a dedicated track car that requires a cage for the racing I'll be doing, then it will get it. I also haven't installed my harness because a regular seatbelt is safer in the event of a rollover when you don't have a cage.
