rb26dett - Click HERE for Original Thread

Cynix
I just recently sold my Metallic blue z32 for a nice price and Im looking to do something no one i think in alberta has attempted yet and i need some Tech Advice . Im looking to stuff the rb26dett into a 91-94 240sx thats right im crazy. ive seen it done before but there is limited information on how to do it like a step by step process so any links or actual info on this Possible swap would come in handy. why wouldnt i just get an sr20 and spend the rest of the money on fortifying cause i dont want a sr20 engine. ? well the main thing im trying to find out is if its a feasible swap that could be done by one of the shops in town . And no i dont want the rb25 either i want true gtr34 power .
and id like a 91 cause the front bumper looks fatter :)

BlueTurboEGG was looking at doing this... he may know something...

DIdn't sport compact car just have an s13 w/ the rb26dett in it????

Why not try contacting some of the magazine that have these rides in them... maybe they can direct in in the right direction... possibly even hook you up w/ the ppl that did the install!

Goodluck

SCCs S13 had "just" an SR20 in it.

Check your pocketbook, then check the forums. It will be much easier doing RB25DET. But if you've 30 grand, it should be doable.

good luck finding a shop in town that will do this swap right,
hehehe sumaru's cant even barley put in a sr20det .... :o

..and a nother thing a RB25det can be made to handle close to, or just as much power as a 26dett. ....cause if u want to go fast, you usually ditch the twin setup anyway... just throw a big single on the rb25.....
and another thing.. good luck with the transmission issuses and mounting of the 26dett......its going to cost u alot of money....money that could be spent on having a 240sx with a 800hp 25det......

but its your bling :dunno:

redbaron303
wow, you guys are optimistic...?! I'm sure he realizes it's expensive... but if he wants to spend some good money on this project lets help him...

THere is a guy in van city that did a 70's 280Z and swapped in the rb26dett (I think it's single turbo conversion)... that would be a challenge more than a 240sx!

I know there is a company in the states that likes to make big powered nissans called ziel motorsports, possible try contacting them!

DeathBy240
From what I have heard the RB26 is much easier to put in 280z's, heard it even bolts right in. But it would be a tight squeeze in a 240sx.

SCC had a 240 with a RB25....

sil_eighty
if u want to find a shop in edmonton that will do this... theres no chance..:pat: you'll either have to go to the states or maybe try vancover

cali would be a for sure....maybe seattle not sure????

but expexct it to cost $30 000+ ...(like 1mns13 said!)

good luck

You bastard :P

Not too much of a tight squeeze, it can be done, and the AWD conversion can be done as well. You need a good fabricator however.

One of the tranny mounts bolts right up, you will however have to fashoin the other two.

Other issues to consider:

Money the most obvious I think this conversion is done by a company in the US (don't remember the name right now) to the tune of 15,000 USD for the RB20

Engine managment most harnesses will come chopped, spliced, etc. make sure you get one from a reputable distributor.

Brakes and Suspension these are a must, people I know in the US who have done this (bastards) have reported little to no difference in the handling of the car other than the god fearing power it puts down.

RWD you need a RB20 5 spd tranny to make it work with which ever motor you decide to go with, AWD, well, you'd be on your own for this one.

Seam welding and roll cage... Might not be necessary, but with that much HP on tap, it couldn't hurt, atleast that's what I'd do...

Did I mention that you'd be a bastard if you did this? :)

im kinda disappointed i kidna figured it would only cost about 10 or 12 g to do this conversion the rb26 engines ive seen for sale were like 7k and i figured a couple gs for installation its unfortunete cause i really wanted to pull this off but i lack the funds so i think ill just do the boring old sr20 swap as soon as i get me a shell. Thanks alot for the Help Blue Turb before i go putting off a skyline engine though what kind of price range am i looking at for either the rb25 or rb20 and what kind of hp the wheel numbers are they pushing compared to a stock sr20 conversion like i understand they are all very capable motors but which engine could i get the most out of right outta the box with minor mods like air intake chip boos cont. i thinking the rb25 would be the most capable and probably has the highest potentia and l to hold the most hp stock.

If you go RB25DET you might be able to keep your 10G budget. See if you can get it swapped into a front cut in Japan first and then the homework is done for you. Lon did that with his S13.

:werd: ditch the twin for a single.. most everyone does when you're lookin to go super fast.. just take a look at the tracks and you don't see many twin set-ups there.. and they have more bling then you can imagine
