| I'm just curious, last year at v8less it was such a mess of Muscle cars, I couldn't tell how many imports were there. How many do you Edmontonians will show up for import only drags at v8less? |

| I believe alot of imports will show up considering V8less is Edmonton's only large homegrown import gathering. The SCC even is bound to attract more interest too. I hope alot of cars from Calgary show up as well. |

I'll be cooking burgers again, so I'm sure people will be there just for that.
BTW, if we don't show up in numbers, Budpark won't be too enthusiastic about running another one of these. Remember, they don't make money, they won't do it again. |

I dunno, we need to get the word out FAST, starting RIGHT @#$%ING NOW.
The bad rap from last year alone is enough to keep people away.
We need to inform people asap that this is solely set to be a Sport Compact Car only event.
We also need a sign for Budpark stating that we will turn away V8's at the gates. This will help keep the right traffic flowing through the gates and the undesirables away.
I hear some of the pro's from Clagary are taking interest in some of the events that are starting to draw more interest. |

A sign saying you'll turn away V8's? That's too funny. Guess CYA can park his car on the highway and walk to the track
I predict 80-100 cars racing, 12 that are fast. |

As far as turning away V8's, that is Budpark's call. The event is put on by them, so at the end of the day, it's thier wallet that is affected most.
I've been told they will publish Race Itinaries to distribute among V8 racers to identify that this is an Import Only Event. Unfortunately, the schedule for racing came out several months ago before we scheduled these import events which shows the Jul 16th and September 2nd as regular test and tunes. They wil correct this asap.
Hopefully proper promotion from Budpark and V8less will result in all the muscle car guy's being notified. I made it quite clear to them, that SCC racers have no interest in another event ruined by muscle, and they will never get a good SCC race following if they keep focusing on muscle. |

| I hope Bud does a good job of informing the V8's... I do not need them yelling at us people working the gates again this year, especially since it will be OUR event. |

| I swear some of you are more "car racist" than the rednecks. |

I agree completely Loose, but I don't think there is a problem with Import racers wanting to race like racers.
Its all about getting what people want, and what I hear is an Import only event. I think if we stress the extreme, we'll be able to get closer to an all import event.
Thanks for your opinions. |

Dude, if you heard half of the assinine rermarks made by the V8 group at the V8less last summer, you wouldn't be so sympathetic.
They ranged from downright rude to just not necessary.
Everyone was frustrated, but the V8 group seemed alot more vocal about the whole ordeal. I was seriously considering turning away those insulting people while I was doing tech.
But I would never stoop to their level, no matter how much of that filth I was forced to endure, and I can't even imagine what poor Steph went through.
Nobody needs that, and nobody wants that. |

I remember back in the first Street Legal last year I went to with my Integra.
I had bad comments from Domestic owners and some Talon owner...
oh well i guess... I was out there just to race my car.
would someone rather I was out on the street?
anyway, hope all goes well with the event. |

When I raced the RX-7, I had nothing but positive comments. I even had a Mustang owner come up and say, "sweet car, is it turbo? wanna race?"
Same thing with DSM4EVER, nothing but props and curiosity based questions when I was at the track with him. We've hung out with a dude and a 383 Firebird, and a bunch of guys racing in a $1500 challenge. They were as redneck as they come.
Lots of the import disses are deserved, because of poor track etiquitte:
-Import guys ripping around pits, and the return lanes (1st import shootout, the guys were doing dry hops in the staging lanes)
-Import guys dragging water on the track (front wheel drive cars going into the water box, on radials even!
-Import guys not knowing how to stage, and thus wasting time. This is fact. Just go to a JB's even and see how many imports drive past the beams, vs domestics.
Respect isn't given, it is earned. And so far I don't think we deserve it. |

But etiquette is something learned. No one is doing what you listed because they wantted to. Track etiquette was something we were really concerned about. We had a document posted on V8less regarding track etiquette as well. We all remember the JB's events and wanted to avoid any embarrassment.
You have to remember, for most of these guys, it was their first time at the track. As the novice racers get more experience it will come. It's being in that comfort zone where mistakes are tolerated and not frowned upon is want I think most novice import racers are looking for.
It's for the better of both parties to have an import only event. A large import gathering along with Muscle cars like last years event would only cause frustration around experienced racers, and a feeling of inadequacy for import novice racers. All anger was justified. |

Oh, I'm not saying that we were'n't respected and all, there were definitly idiots on both sides, it just seemed that to me, during the whole "checking in", line ups etc. the V8 crowd seemed alot more profane.
I hung out with a guy with a clean as a whistle black Satalite that ran 11's.
During the line-ups I heard lots of "These punks should go home" "Let the real racers in" Guess what, they were all V8 guys. I was in the thick of it and none too happy about the attitude.
There were alot of SCC guys who can't seem to read either. Can't really call them "imports only" anymore, I think Sports Compact Cars would be more appropriate.
Perhaps we need some Intro courses. |
