hey guys so I tried to remove my drive belts today to get my new Alt belt on. and replacing the other 2. I'm trying to do it all without having to remove anything like if i had to do a timing belt swap and remove the rad. the problem im having is loosing the belt tensioners. like they wont budge. I loosed the one bolt and then hit on it with a hammer. maybe im doing it wrong. does anyone have pics of how these things work....i know that sounds stupid but.
and is their a simpler way to loosen the I believe the power steering belt. its way the hell up there and I can only get one small 12mm wrench to fit. it took me like 25min to loosen it barely nothing.

I think you have to loosen the mount screws on the PS pump and Alt or set screws on the tensioner....
Follow the appropriate parts. |

thanks alot Mahesh. and ya thats exactly what it was. I have gotten 2/3 belts loose but the PS pump is killing me. the bolt thats behind the pully.... I can't seem to make that pully budge to line up the hole and the bolt. I think since I got another belt im just going to cut that one so the pully can freely move....

I am going insane here. ONE freakin bolt. thats all thats holding me back. it will not budge. and the hole in the pully doesn;t line up with the bolt. WTF!!! and there is no clearance behind the pully to fit anything besides the small 14mm wrench I have. :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:
the other 2 belts went on piece of cake. I dont know what to do now. |

Have you tried a stubby 14 mm wrench? Use some PB Blaster as well. |

oh this keeps getting better. my new plan was to take off the top rad hoses and then remove the pully all together. (which I accomplished) the pump is still hella stuck but its progress....
but now too the good part. I go to open the drain plug but it was just dripping so i kept turning it thinking it wasn't "open" yet. well i opened it to far and the whole plug flies off!!! coolant is like gushing out all freakin over me!!! I try and put my hands up to direct it into the bucket....NO GO.. that shit went everywere. and it wasn't nice clean coolant. ohhhh noooo this is like sitting for a couple yrs dirty ass JDM coolant.. and the smell!! ahhhhh.
its all over me and my clothes. so I gave up after that. :mad:
I will continue my "adventure" tomorrow.... if you dont see a picture of my car running in the next couple days assume that I have either A.) loosened some random bolt and the whole engine fell on me and crushed me to death.
Or B.) I blew up this stupid car causing my house to burn down and that would leave me with no access to a computer.

OMG ITS DONE. AHH!!!!
I loosened every bolt of the power steering. banged the shit out of it. still couldn't get it... so i called a friend and he got it on like nothing. the guy knows shit about cars. go figure hey.
did a rad flush. did an oil change. put everything back together and she purrsss... well she idles like shit and there is a knocking sound. but better than nothing :rolleyes:
ill fix those problems on a later date. at least she drives now :beer: :beer: :beer: |
