I'm not a COP HATER, by any means, but here's the story:
"We saw the both of you going 161KM"
I got a $352 ticket, my friend got a $300 ticket. How, and why?
Secondly, "If you come to court I'll tell them what REALLY happened!"
How well does that hold up? If you gave me a ticket for what DIDN'T happen, how could you fight that!? What you're saying, is you gave me a ticket for somethign that DIDN'T happen!?
Is that Valid?
Then, I passed a cop and he pulled me over.
It was 8AM in a school zone it turned out (turned off a side street, had no idea it was a school zone.)
He pulled me over and said, "You just passed me! What's going on? License etc..." 15 minutes later, "Here's the ticket! $172..."
WTF? I said, "So WTF is this, I can't pass you!? I was going 45"
"YEAH AND YOU PASSED ME, AND THE TWO CARS BEHIND ME!!"
Well was I supposed to STOP!? IT WAS A GREEN LIGHT.
They were stopped a red in the far right lane, so in the lane to them, I was slowing down, it turned green, so I kept on going, and passed them. Was I supposed to STOP at a greeN!?!!?
Fucking GRANDE PRAIRIE. Cost me over $700 in tickets to be there for the weekend for work, let alone the gas cost at $45/ltr and the shop that charged me $162 to tell me, "Can't do the alignment, but we balanced your tires... they're big, so it's reeeeaaly expensive!" then I hit the road and they shook even more.
Fags.
Fags FAGS.
... and I'm going back on Thursday.
WTF "YOU PASSED ME, HERE'S THE TICKET, I'LL SEE YOU IN COURT!!!" and stormed off. |
|
|
| Graphicdude |
| I would get a good lawyer and fight this |
|
|
| sixsixii |
| yes let quite our day jobs and just attend court and fight those tickets |
|
|
| Graphicdude |
It's "quit" not "quite" drop the E. Did I say "quit your job and fight that ticket"? NO, so STFU if you have nothing relevant to add.
Wtf is he suppose to do? Just take it up the ass? If his story is true and the cop was just being a Douche, then YES you should attend court and fight that ticket. It's 700 bucks! And not only that why not put a shitty cop on the stand? Why not put him out there? Maybe he will learn his lesson next time he has a bad day, to not take it out on civilians. |
|
|
| JoshP2002 |
I tend to be working up there more and more often - and it is ridiculous how many cops are up there.
I would fight it in court for sure - if it was 200 bucks, whatever, but 700 is well over most people daily income. |
|
|
| Lukesky |
Kk.. well the first one, you were speeding, correct? At that excessive speed? For that one I would just pay it.
For the next one, I would fight it... it should be fairly easily thrown out if your story is true.

| What I don't understand is, if he "saw both of you going 161km/h" then when did they each get fined for differing amounts? |
|
|
| Lukesky |
| Maybe he did two different speeds because he was saving them the 'racing' penalty. He may have thought it would have looked more like they were racing if they were both going the same speed, since he wrote up the tickets at the same time or something? |
|
|
| AudiInProgress |
| It doesn't sound like this cop was in the mood to cut them any breaks... |
|
|
| Lukesky |
Well he said, "if you come to court, I'll tell them what really happened"
So I just made the guess based on the comment. |
|
|
| Turb0.ed.v6 |
| Either way... that was the most confusing paragraph I have ever read. How can you explain what "really happened" when you cant even explain clearly on a computer what happened. |

The officer obviously had the new dual-beam "anti-racing" laser that gives the person that's winning the larger ticket?
If the officer is withholding what really happened, and changes his story in court isn't that kind of a stain on his credibility? Like AIP said, it's weird you would get different fines for the same thing. |
|
|
| BRNIN8 |
You can ask at the courts for a copy of the officer's notes concerning your ticket. If there is nothing documented, I'm fairly sure there would be little to discuss about "the real story." I'd pay the fee for Pointts or Tickets and take both to court. You've kept both cops off the road for a given day win or lose. Plug up that legal system. Oh, and slow the hell down. Nobody gets a 150km/h ticket by mistake.
I brought my flame suit, so bring on the hate! |

| who said anything about them getting clocked @ 161KM/hr?!?!!? He STATED "We saw the both of you going 161KM". So in my opinion, the cop didn't even clock the cars... just guessing to meet month end quota. |

Right...Why write 4 tickets for 25 over when you could just write 2 for 50 over? That would cover the quota for sure!
Sheer and utter nonsense. |
|
|
| SilverNeonRacer |
| what does it say on the ticket? or rather which box is checked? Radar/laser/clocked? |
|
|
| KrunkLord |
Maybe the ghost car got you?
thats how they got me, as soon as i start my car the windows go down to drive home and it happens that
the lovely ghost car passes me with about 4 inches on window up. and well you know the rest... |

| Im assuming the second incident you where in a school zone??? If so it is illegal to pass cars in a school zone so Im guessing thats what you got a ticket for. Courts frown huge on school zone violations so if you did anything and go to court be prepared to lose. |

Exactly.
Also was it an Urban or a Rural School Zone? |
|

Keep it on the track Stig.
that is all. |
|
|
| The Stig |
On the track is all fine and dandy, I was driving with a 25yr old girl, and the car infront were my two 45 year old co-workers in their crown vic.
We were just "crusing" at 140 the whole way pretty much, and at the end I went to pull up beside (he hates it) and do that "o" with my fingers so he'd see it, and then oncoming cherries :(
THe point is, yes I was speeding, he was doing 138 according to both him and his friend, and I know I was over 150, that's fine, I take that hit.
It's the fact that I got the ticket for passing the cop, in the school zone, when the light turned green.
It was a red light, and three cars were in the far right lane, and as I was coming to a stop, it turned green, so instead of STOPPING at the green light, I continued going, and he pulled me over saying I passed him..
When I asked him what I shuold do if he was going 20, he said, "YOU DON'T PASS ME, THAT'S WHAT!"
....
Loser IMO.
I appreciate the rules of the road, but in certain circumstances, they cannot reasonably apply. The worst part is I didn't know it was a school zone, I turned into it from a side street, while looking for a mech shop.
Annoying city. |

I think you got a ticket for going 15km/h over the speed limit, so $172 makes sense. Nothing to be angry about.
My first and only ticket was in a school zone too. Driving south down Center Street in Calgary, and all of a sudden it turns into a school zone and the speed limit cuts in half with 1 cop camped out on the radar gun, and the other shipping out tickets.
I think the ticket was for 43km/h or something.
I try to be much more aware of signage in different cities now. |

| From the description you just gave of "crusing" at 140 and you doing over 150 you deserve everything you get. I lived in Grande Prairie and there are no schools near any mechanical shops. And all of the schools are in residential areas of the city which are 50km/h zones. If you where going that fast be grateful you didnt lose your license and get your vehicle impounded. |

| Soooooooooo many hypocrites on this site. |

Illiterate Hippos too..
I was doing no more than 50 when I was pulled over. He pulled me over for passing him in a school zone, and I said, "Was I supposed to stop? It was green.." and he fought back with, "You're lippy!! See you in court"
That was the annoyance.
I already admitted, speeding on the HWY I deserved it, and that it was funny that doing the "o" with my fingers, then getting a ticket was the irony of ironys!
...
The trouble with posting on threads you don't read, is you don't make sense. I'm guilty of it too. |

50 over is $351 ticket, but anything faster is manditory court...
Your friend was doing 44 over ($299.00)
If you were doing 161 km (on a 110 km/h highway, you would have been doing 51 km/h over the posted speed = manditory court and usually a tow...
I would fight it...

Every city has it's ups and downs.
Edmonton has Groat road, Sask Drive, Whyte, Henday, and West Ed.
Grande Prairie, has a BPs with Buck Hunter.
If you look at the half full of things... (well 1/100th full in this case) you'll always be happy where you are.
People here drive slower, speak slower, walk slower, generally are slower. It doesn't work for me here, and so what, I'm only here for work. Same thing with Edmonton.
One day, ONE day.. California. |

then quit fuckin complaining.
you were obviously speeding on the highway. fight it or shut up.
