I have no experience with boats, other than being in them. It makes me wonder what kind of help you'll get, though. You're asking a bunch of Edmontonian 'tuners' about watercraft? That's like asking a Brazilian about ice fishing.

dnp33
i dont know too much about the VTX cause ive never rode behind one but i think its like a 20 footer or something? so it would be better on gas then an LSV or VLX. and if you end up needing a bigger wake cause you get really into wakeboarding you can always throw in some sac's.
Malibu makes amazing boats theres a reason there the number one selling boat brand year after year.
Im assuming your buying from wizard lake marine, which is a really solid dealership you cant go wrong there.
Centurion also makes really good boats, a little less common then malibu so i think there less expensive (not sure about that but i think.) the enzo is a big boat it will kill you when you've gotta fill it up. the lightning is more like the VTX i believe.

all in all, the malibu is probably a better boat, it all comes down to preference though you should take both of them out for a test drive.

gtaylor
my family just bought a wakesetter vtx. and yes it is a 20fter

power wedge and full zone ballast will be key for wakeboarding, along with the "cruise control"

only thing it is missing is tower speakers.

all in all tho, malibu and mastercraft are the top names in boats.

dnp33
gtaylor where do you ride? hows the wake on the VTX?

just actually bought it over the winter, so we have yet to pick it up from the dealership even:p

im out at long island lake tho, we have a small cabin there and the lake is usually pretty warm and not to much traffic.

dnp33
oh i see. we have a cabin at wizard lake. its usually not very busy, till the weekend hits and there's about 150 boats on the lake
what kind of boat are you coming from?

Rinker 192. Wasnt a bad boat, but had problems getting out of the water with a lot of weight behind it.

Had a performance exhaust on it, so it was loud and mean sounding tho haha. always a good time to burn around in at 2am:p

dnp33
hahaha yea man. its awesome going from I/O to Inboard:)
if you wakeboard or ski that is...

gtaylor
yea.

i board 90% of the time, and ski a bit. My brother usually skis, so we got the diamond hull to help with him.

but even tubing behind this thing should be a blast. itll burn a fuckton of gas, but some pretty crazy carnage should ensue

dnp33
haha thats alot like me dude. except we got the response lxi so its pretty much 100% ski....
it still throws a decent wake with a 700lb sack in the back though;)
if you've never rode behind a wakeboard boat before, its a good feeling man. even going from my boat to my friends centurion lightning i get thrown its fun.

I am just waiting for the lake test to decide if i want the VTX. I'm sure it will be better then i expect.

what colors did you go with

dnp33
dude if it were me, i would go with just a black and white. so clean and it will last look good forever.
you can go here and check out all the colors if you want

the one i have is black and white, and it has a yellow strip on the deck accent, so its a very clean lloking boat, the interior is the same as the one in there brocher, just the dash is grey instead of yellow

they are a sexy boat with a sick price tag,

not my first choice, but we bought it used with liek 20hrs on it for wayyy less than a new 08 would cost.

black/white is real nice, there was a used one we looked at with a real nice stereo in it, but didnt have the full ballast or diamond hull. black/yellow looks really nice as well. but if i had my choice i would be all black

joshturbo

dude the diamond hull is for a better ski wake, not wakeboard wake.
unless your into skiing.

yea, ive been on the lake a few times.

cruise control is awesome, just set the speed and let it do the rest, its really good if you have a less experianced friend driving.

the wedge + balast is really nice, i havent really cranked it up all the way, but it makes the wake much more defined and gives it a nice lip.

overall the boat is very stable, you can crank the wheel and turn super hard, and it just holds on. the seating is really comfortable as well.

ive been super happy with it thus far, just make sure your visa ready for the gas billl hahha

how much fuel do you burn in a day of riding

depends how long you ride and what sports you do.... but on our boat will go wakeboarding for like 8 hours or more in a day with 10 people in the boat and burn around 10 Gallons....

wakeboarding/skiing/kneeboarding usually 40-50 litres.

do some tubing and that kills your mileage.

that like 5-6 hours, with the wedge down (1200lbs ballast) when boarding

exactly,it all depends how big the boat, what sport and if wedge and ballast are in operation.. it all plays a factor... but in the end it's worth it!

plus when you buy it, they will usually give you some real good deals on boards, skis, kneeboards, tubes...

joshturbo
i ended up buying it , kind of shocked that the stero dont work, it lasted 3 hours, i guess we will see how good there service it

the boat rides awesome, we spent 8 hours on sylvan, and thats the plan for all my weekends now

dnp33
man if its wizard lake marine it should turn out all good.
