| is it illegal to have double din decks on the front dash? is it also illegal to have backup cameras and the monitor on the dash? just want to clarify what's legal. pls explain in detail. |

If you're being serious, I would assume not, as a lot of high end vehicles (especially larger SUV's) have this stuff standard.
And double dins have been around for 20+ years. Ask any GM owner. |

Double-DIN is just a chassis size. The factory deck in my car is double-DIN.
If you mean the one that has a 7" LCD in it, it depends.
If it can play video, it MUST be configured such that it only does so when the park brake is engaged, (Or other reasonable assurance that the vehicle is not moving, such as a neutral start safety for an automatic transmission) or is mounted so that the driver cannot see the screen while it does so.
If it's displaying GPS Nav, or just radio/CD data, then there's no problem. Personally, I don't like the fancy visualisations, dancing lights and other things that seem to be popular on a lot of decks now, I find them distracting (Which is why movies in the driver's field of view are illegal.) |
