Don ("Blue") has volunteered to head the team this year. I thought I'd start a sticky post for him to track a list of participants and share details, etc.
EZCC Team Booth:
1. Don B. "Blue" - 300ZX Convertible, Black
2. "arabian_ryda" - Datsun 510
3. Jeff K. "aarrgghh" - 350Z, Grey
4. Mahesh "Mixmanmash" - Red 300ZX TT
5. Ashwin - 350Z, Silver
6. Harry Phan - 1972 240Z
7. Jackal - '86 300Z

As far as team demographic I think it would be good to have as much diversity of car models as possible. Unique colors or configurations would be a plus, and as many new entrants (of cars) as possible that people may not have seen before.
But you guys are free to agree or disagree. Anything goes.

Gang,
Talked to Jeff Cantin yesterday and have entered us in DTP. Looks like they are down to 1 hall again this year (the big one we were in 2 years ago) but he will make sure we are good for space, however, we should stick to 12 cars max.
Here is who we have so far:

Whoa... Don't let any Datsun/Nissan guys hear you refer to your Camaro (Z-28) as a "Z". |

So you've never been to a DTP show before?
The displays are not roped off. However it's normal for at least half the club's participants to be watching the cars at any given time during the show. (lunch taken in shifts, etc.).
There is a fee to enter, something like $30-35 per car. However the Z Club might be covering members' entry fees. So there's another bonus for joining the Z Club officially, if you needed another reason. :D |

I don't see your name on the list for this year, Are you sitting out of the show this year also Jay?:( |

| Just to note, entry fees this year for clubs is going to be $45 per car as opposed to the $40 that we paid last year. |

Most likely yes. I have to choose my "car days/weekends" carefully this summer.
But as a sidenote, I'll probably be able to make the Reynolds Museum cruise the day after DTP. |

Are we still doing the cruise to the museum? I was under the impression no one wanted to do it anymore at the last meet....:dunno: |

| I might be interested in the museum run. If its a nice day, why not. |

Really? That's retarded. I wasn't at the May meeting last week. But I thought we had interest at the April meeting.
See what happens when I miss a meeting? Everything goes to hell.
Basically we were to be tagging along (via invite) with our friends from the Miata club. They are still going, regardless of whether we do. However, I will still try to go and hopefully we can get more of the Z Club. I'll have to rattle some chains... ask Gord to send email reminders, Rob to put it on our events calendar, etc. |
|
|
| Blue |
The first I had heard of the Reynold's run was at the last meeting as I have missed a few previous ones and there wasn't much mention of it at this one. I asked what it was and then we moved on, so there didn't seem to be yays or nays either way regarding it.
I know we get out of the loop sometimes when we miss meetings but, isn't there some way to have the meeting discussions e-mailed out to the club members? Granted, my fault for missing meetings, but when I showed up last thursday I had no clue about the Reynold's thing, amongst other stuff. |
|
|
| vorpalz |
Do we have further info on the Reynold's Museum run, something on the Miata site, gathering time, etc?
I'll post it up tonight.
I'll also create links to this thread for DTP info from the website as well.

I'll have to double check with Richard. I think the tentative plan was to rendezvous at the oil derrick at ~11am. I'll confirm the details and let you know. |

Have some of the club's DTP alumni been contacted yet? (Vern, John, John, Frank, Jim, James, Ron etc.) |

thats acually a really good idea. would the organizers mind if we picked up some models? i could ask a couple chicks they love that stuff. plus they could get recruited as there having a model search aswell. hmmm |

The organizer says:
"Bring them on, for our type of show the more the merrier. The guys eat it up". |

Hmm. We need to get some more S30 chassis (240Z, 260Z, 280Z) and S130 chassis (280ZX) cars to fill out our booth.
I remember last year we had Joe's car in which was this beautiful S30 chassis car in silver with really stupid low mileage on it. I think he got it from Ohio. |
|
|
| aarrgghh |
We also need to plan transport and if you could let us know the times we need to drop off, be there on Sat and what time the show is over that would be great.
I'm think of bringing the camera mount and a projector and dvd player for the stills and video from the last autocross. Rob suggested we hook the camera on the mount up live which isn't a bad idea either. Is there somewhere on the booth we can that we can project on (blank, whiteish area), or somewhere we could attach a white sheet of paper?
Obvious question I missed, do we have power? |

So Blue, can you find out the cost so we can decide if its worth it? We could also bring a booster pack and a inverter as none of the stuff needs a ton of power. |

Guys,
I have recieved the member list from aarrgghh - thanks, and will be calling asap to try and get some older Z's out.
Roll in is between 2and 9 pm on Friday. Due to construction in the area I suggest meeting, say 6pm inside the entrance to the grounds at 116 ave and Gretzky and we can roll in from there.
If there is anyone who cannot make it Friday, the entrance will re-open at 10am Sat. Entry is Agricom entrance C1.
Jeff was kind enought to keep us as far from the ruckus of the stage as possible.
I will be hooking up with Marty to get the club gazebo, however I don't have access to any tables. I think last year we just had a small card/folding table of sorts. If anyone can bring one of those, great.
Cool idea about bringing some video. Not sure what we can do about a screen. One of those folding screens would be awesome if we can find one. My folks used to have one. I'll see if it still exists.
Here is the link to the page for ordering power.
http://www.dtpedmonton.com/downloads.htm
Let me know what you think we need and I'll order it. |
|
|
| aarrgghh |
The E800 will be more than enough for what I'm thinking (unless someone wants to add something).
As to a screen, I may have a line on a portable one as well, but if there's any blank wall section on the booth that would also work just as well. |

Can we make this time 6:30 to avoid traffic? To make this clear, this is the entrance right off of Wayne Gretzky Drive where the 4 booths are for collecting parking payment. |

6:30 is fine and yes that is the one off Gretzky.
The club gazebo is open on all sides as far as I remember. |

Wasn't it 1/4 or less? |
|
|
| Blue |
| They weren't to fussy about the gas thing but last year approx 1/2 a tank was acceptable. |
|
|
| aarrgghh |
Good thing I only filled to half last night when I remembered there was something about fuel.
Do we have anyone who can give rides out Fri and back Sat for people whose cars are at the show? For the record, I need a lift and live on the south side.
Also, if our cars are in the show, do we get a pass to bring a guest? |
|
|
| Blue |
We get 2 passes per car. One for us and one for whomever, just have to remember as we come and go during the day that we get stamped.
My girlfriend is coming to get me on Friday after I drop off the roadster, so I may be able to take someone with me. I'm on the west end however. Tim offered to drive people if need be. Maybe pm him just in case. |
|
|
| Blue |
| I'll put the order in for the electrical. It's going to cost the club $103. I'll put on my credit card and the club can pay me back later if thats cool. |

Aarrgghh, hey not a bad idea. Of course we need a couple of cones. |

We've got the cones...they're in two different spots, as we use less at the Griesbach events as compared with the runways at C.F.B. Edmonton.
It could be done, but I don't have access to them.
Hey, BTW, if the EZCC has a gazebo, how come it never comes out to the slalom events? :dunno: |

Similar story as the cones. Logistics (who's got it? where is it? who's going to bring it?)
"It could be done, but I don't have access to it." ;)
(not to mention I definitely don't have space in my car when I come to a slalom).
Things like that might be possible on days we have a support vehicle, like if Doug is coming with the BBQ (which he might for our next Griesbach date). |

Have you seen how we pack a Miata? :D
I've brought my helmet, a cooler, and 55 cones once, plus the radios, etc... There's always a way J! ;)
But, if the BBQ comes out to Griesbach on the 28th (a practice run for the lapping day on July 5th?), a second gazebo would be wonderful. It's a long day in the sun otherwise, as you know from our first event (where you complained of sun-stroke). |

Well at least I had a hat and sunscreen that day. I forgot both last weekend at the PCA and actually sunburned a bit, despite the mostly overcast weather.
Anyway, if the gazebo is coming out for our DTP display this weekend it should be easy to keep track of to keep it handy over the next few weeks for the 28th. (I'll mention it to Doug as well, and comfirm if he is in fact coming out.) |
|
|

| If not for the 28th, the 5th for sure, as I'm sure he won't enjoy standing in the sun and cooking without some shade. |

SRL311 is a Datsun 2000.
I initially thought it may be a cool edition to the booth but it is a bit rough...home paint job in the 80s. Maybe not booth worthy.
Should have thought that through more before I posted.
Interesting for people who don't know about this part of Datusn history but not a show car.

| Photo looks good. Hey no worries. Maybe next year. That would be a cool car to have on display! Afterall the "Fairlady" name goes back as far as 1959 when the S211 roadster was released. The SPL310, which seems pretty similar to your car was also a Fairlady. |

Most of us know what a Datsun 2000 is. We have a couple nice ones in the club, and one of which was actually in our DTP display the first couple years we entered.
You just probably lost some of us by using chassis codes. That's got less to do with knowing history and more to do with just being 'in the know' on dorkish trivia IMO. |

I used the chassis code because of this post...

I also mentioned the history because there are a lot of non nissan people (and even some nissan guys) that don't know the history and I have many people who see my car with Datsun on the back of it and still ask me what it is.
Anyway, I'll keep this way off topic stuff out of this thread.

actually, a lot of us use chassis code designations when referring to Z cars, S-30, S-130, Z31, Z32, Z33. It's quick and easy shorthand to refer to a specific body type. Same with engine designations. Now I know a bit more about the Datsun roadster, thanks!

I partake in minimal use of chassis codes, mainly out of conformity. If it wasn't for the fact there were TWO generations called "300ZX" we would probably see much less use and need for it (Z31/Z32) within the Z community. Seriously, S-30 is hardly much shorthand for '240Z'. Likewise 350Z is just as easy to write and say as Z33.
I understand the need for the codes for internal industry use. But I personally think it's casual use among car folk in daily speak is retarded. But STOP, before you say anything, I know this is not an argument I'll win here on this site so just save it...
I'm not going to take the time to go memorize all the Toyota engine and chassis codes, for example. Why? Mostly because I don't really give a shit. Just tell me if you're talking about a Supra, or an MR-2, etc. and that's all I really need to know. Thanks. |

Mahesh is bringing the tent.
Jeff is bringing the video and cones, etc.
Not sure who has a small table, Jeff perhaps as well?
I have taken care of the power.
Our space should be perfect for this number of cars as we were to crammed last year.
If I have forgotten anything let me know.

Our space should be perfect for this number of cars as we were to crammed last year.
Nice! That looks like a good cross-section of cars there.
Just missing a 280ZX... ahem, excuse me!... S130, and it'd be perfect. ;) |

Ass! You're just saying that now to piss me off.
For a 280ZX we had two that have been in our booth prior: Roy's slick blue/silver one, and Verne's white one. Had anyone contacted them? |

Hey Guys
Just wanted to say thank you for your continued support of DTP, it was a pleasure having you all out to the show. As usual you are all a pleasure to deal with and come well prepared and put on a kick ass display.
I am getting alittle tired of handing you the same trophy year after year but it was once again well deserved. Maybe one of these days someone will step up and dethrone the champs.
Don, big thanks to you for getting everything organized on behalf of the club
Jeff |
