Bell's Loaner phone policy - Click HERE for Original Thread

mcmanus7
alright i'll try to make a long story short.... my samsung a900 shit the bed... took it in (still under waranty) got a loaner phone... the loaner was the last/only one they had at the time and was beat up pretty bad... ie cracked, the backplate was falling off etc..... the person working at the store wrote down that it was fairly damaged and off I was.... the phone worked great but yesterday the thing literally fell apart.... like the crack that was there when i got it spread somehow(iwas careful with the phone) and now the screen is basically detached from the rest of the phone and just displays white..... the phone still works for phone calls.....

So I went to bell today and they want me to pay 100 replacement fee.... doesn't this seem unreasonable considering I did not do anything to cause this?

Talk to the manager, thats BS.

mcmanus7
thats what I wanted to do however I guess no store managers work on sat/sun... so i'll have to call monday,,, I called bell customer service and they said that I shouldn't have to pay.. but they couldn't do anything since its down to the store level... and I talked to a manager at another location and she said she wouldn't expect that I would be made to pay.. if it had been her location she would have exchanged it straight up

the only shit thing is no I don't have a cell for a few days and I probably over-rely on having a cellphone

i worked for bell, i work for their sister company now. What you should do is find out which employee you talked to, and get the manager and him/her to talk with you all at once.

The manager will listen to his employee most of the time over the customer. If you can get it out of the employee that he didn't write down the correct condition of the phone you may get off. Those loaner phones are garbage as it is so try and tell them that.

Good luck. Just curious which location did you go to and who did you deal with?

mcmanus7
kingsway location and some guy who was there... I couldn't talk to a manger since there was not one there..... as for the other location I never grabbed her name since she couldn't do anything for me since she couldn't access the original file.....

The thing is, is the employee I first contacted who gave me the loaner phone explicitly put in that the phone was in rough condition I saw her put it in and read exactly what she put.....

Seriously, i am trying to give you advice. Do exactly what i just said and you shouldn't have a problem. Skimp on what i am telling you to do and you will have a problem and a headache.

Go and find out who did the repair for you. It should say on the RTIS contract you signed (repair bill). The next step is find out when the manager is in. There are only 2 managers that actually spend a ton of time at their stores and one is mine. Sadly the rest are slackers and stay away from the stores they actually are suppose to be managing. What you need to do is call ahead and make sure he/she is there. If not make sure you get the managers cell number.

Fromt that point, call the manager and ask to speak to him/her and the employee at the same time IN PERSON. The manager is going to try to fix the problem over the phone if they are a good manager. if they do insist you only want to speak in person with both of them at the same time. If the manager tells you that is impossible ask for the managers employee number and tell them you will be filing a complaint since something that is easily done is being prevented due to the managers lack of concern for his/her customers.

The next step is to meet them in person if you manage to follow what i have just told you. Explain your story and explain how she wrote down that the phone was a POS. It should state the condition on your RTIS copy as well. Actually go read it right now and tell me what it says on the condition notes area. Tell me that info and i can help you even more.

mcmanus7
see the thing is on my copy all it mentions is the condition that my phone was in when I gave it to them... my phone is still out for repair.. the problem is the loaner phone is broken... there's nothing on my paper that mentions the condition of the loaner

If none of that works, just burn down the building.

i guess you will need to talk to the manager in person and hope he/she agrees with you. what kind of phone was it? i may be able to help you out but i doubt it.

mcmanus7
it was a beat to shit samsung m500...

mcmanus7
called the bell manager today... she knows that she had a loaner phone that was cracked but could not confirm whether or not the phone I had was in fact the one she was talking about.... in a odd twist my original phone JUST came in.... she said that most likely i will not get charged the 100 fee from bell... so all is good

mcmanus7
Sounds like bell will not be charging me.... the manager said she would call me first thing today if I was going to be charged... no phone call at all
