ABS brakes at track - Click HERE for Original Thread

Yay or Nay? and why

ABS is a safety feature put into cars for the majority of the population whom is retarded and cannot drive. A little bit of wheel lockup isn't going to have the slightest bit of effect on the track. If you find you are constantly locking up your wheels when you brake a) you aren't applying brakes correctly and thus actually need abs (you retarded driver, you!) or b) you are using tires/vehicle which is inadequate for the purpose of racing.

For aggressive braking most experienced race drivers are going to outbrake a stock ABS system.

Since 99% of 780tuners are pro racers with hardcore race cars I guess they don't need ABS for their bench battles...

I don't have ABS and I'm good with not having it.. :)

If you actually want to know how to drive you can get good enough that you don't need ABS.. I can stop just fine without it under 'emergency circumstances'.

"GOOD" ABS is a nice feature for a daily driver. Unfortunately 90% of cars have a horrible ABS system which is way to sensitive. Over summer there is no reason to want any sort of TC/ABS, period.

My car doesn't have ABS and I am happy that it doesn't (less to go wrong). That being said I wouldn't mind having "GOOD" ABS and traction control in the winter. A couple times I have braked on ice, not knowing I was on ice, and had to get back off the brake quickly. Anyone who has to drive a rwd car in the winter knows of advantage of traction control.

I can tell you right now that if I had the same car with ABS, I could probably run faster lap times. It would take a little getting used to but I have no doubts that I would gain time.

FYI, they did not ban ABS, traction control etc from F1 because it sucked.

IMO, abs or no abs is both fine

however, traction control is extremely gay, especially traction control that uses the rear brakes, wow that stuff sux.

Hehe remember the first lap you took with the 924 spec car at the autocross? That car had polygon tires after everyone that was used to ABS got done with it.

I can stop faster if I don't trigger the ABS coming into the stop box, but it's nice to have a safety net if I push it a bit to far.

 I almost forgot about that. Didn't I go almost sideways and take out a whole line of cones down one side of the braking box? (If that wasn't ME, then I sure laughed at whoever it was that did... but I'm sure I laughed at myself too.)
