| I use the refillable mug and even though I use cream in my coffee (Starbucks), I always tell them no when they ask if I want room for cream. 95/100 of the servers downsize you by a couple of ounces when you only need a few mm of room. |

*Paging that dude around here with the WRX who owns a Second Cup*
Care to comment? How many ounces are the 3 cups supposed to hold?
Disclaimer: I don't really care, I've never had coffee. |
|
|
| e46 |
| the cups are suppose to be 12 16 and 20 ounces |
|

I will comment for sure.
Those cups are for all our cold drinks. The cups are very similar in size but the ingredients used for each size is very different. if you made a large size drink you would not be able to fit it in the small cup. For example a small icy smoothie uses 6 oz of base where a large uses 10 oz of base (thats not including all the other ingrediants)....so that is quite the difference. So all that video is showing is ya the glasses are similar in size but not in the amount of beverage you get per size.
To the dude who posted that maybe you should do some research before you post stuff like that.
Also I always laugh at people that always say "you pay 4 bucks for a coffee at second cup" you dont pay that for just a coffee.
Tim hortons x-large coffee is the same size as a large at Second Cup and theres only about 20 to 30 cents difference in price. So if you dont care about quality and just about price then ya Tim Hortons is the way to go.
Its like driving a car....if you just want something to get you from A to B and you dont care what you drive, a kia is for you....if you want to do it with taste and style and pay a little more for quality you drive a porshe.... |

well i ordered italian soda.... 6 squirts of flavor for every size..... and the large one fits more ice.... so if you take the ice out of each one, its the same amount of beverage
and i understand why coffee costs more, the whole free trade thing.... but this is for cold drinks |

thats not true at all....read the recipe...there are 8 pumps of syrup in a small and 12 in a large. If thats how your getting them made for you that is incorrect. |
|
|
| e46 |
| ok well then people working there are not making it correctly |
|

| but how about that ice displaces the actual beverage? and doesnt more ice fit in a larger cup? |

True if you fill the cup full of ice....but again thats not how the drinks are to be made. The Cups are different shapes for a reason and you fill to a specific level on each cup so you do get more beverage in each cup. If you put 12 pumps of syrup in a small cup beleive me you would know it wasnt made properly. It would be way to sweet.
Why dont you come in with your video camera and I will show you and you can make a proper video of the truth. |

Flex, I am missing something here. You say that the drink cups are all similar size but very different in the amount of "base" used. So, does this mean that a small is more watered down?
You say if you used a small for the 12 pumps, you would notice it. This would indicate that they are not similar size? What am I missing? |

lol i didnt understand that either, he said "what kind of school did you go to? 12 is clearly more than 8"
lol but anyway, he said that the small one is filled to the top of the cup and the medium and large are filled into the dome lid which would give you "more" |

When making the drinks you dont just put in the flavor and fill the cup to the top. If that was the case then what was shown in the video would be exactly true. All the ingrediants for the drink are measured quantities. I just used the word base to show one ingrediant, I just didnt want to type out whole recipe. Each size has more of everything in it. A small smoothie doesnt actually fill the cup right to the top. A medium and a large actually over fill the cups. You have to put the domed lid on and pour more in to the lid. This is actually a flaw that Second Cup has recognized and they are looking at changing the sizes of the cups to match the quantity of beverage. Why it is like it is I dont know. |

You are wrong, sir. I buy a Starbucks medium almost every day in my refillable mug, which actually holds more than the throw-away cups. I get charged for a Grande/medium, with a ten cent discount for using my own cup.
Refillable Grande coffee from Starbucks = $1.94 - less than 2 bucks, my friende, and it is real coffee, unlike the watered down dishwater from Timmy's (sorry folks, but it's true).
After switching to real, higher caffeine coffee like Starbucks, I cut down to one a day, so I actually spend less. I can't speak for the half-caff-soy-latte stuff, but for real coffee there is little difference in cost. |

I am at our store and just measured the amount each cup holds when filled right to the top. Remember these are our cold drinks cups only.
The small holds 18 oz
The medium holds 20 oz
The large holds 23 oz
Now that is just the physical amount each cup holds to full. Like I say the recipe has an increased quantity for each size repectively. So there is a greater difference in beverage quantity between the sizes. As stated before when making the recipe the amount of beverage is a little below the top on a small but the medium and large drinks will over fill the cup so the lid has to be put on and the rest of the beverage can be put in.
Second Cup is correcting the problem of the cups to make them more distinguished between the sizes so a small will hold a small and a large will hold a large. |
|
|
| Flex |
So measuring the actual quantity of each size after the beverage is made this is what you are getting
a small you get 17 oz
a medium you get 21 oz
a large you get 24 oz
So there is 3 to 4 oz difference in beverage quantity between the sizes
Timmies drinks are the the same difference between them but are smaller then ours
there small is 10 oz
medium is 14 oz
large is 20 oz |

I've never had a good coffee from either starbucks and/or 2nd cup.. always been disappointed. I guess you don't know me.. or my reputation for exagerating everything. |

I know exactly what you mean, I thought they were crap myself for years. Then suddenly the taste clicked for me and I couldn't drink ordinary coffee anymore. A classic case of "acquired taste", which I always thought was BS.
Nothing wrong with people having different tastes, some people need a Guiness to be satisfied with a beer, while for others, anything cold will do. |
