I've recently purchased a 1999 Acura 3.2TL
I'm looking for the following (a good place to buy it) and review on the equipment!
Setup #1:
-Tein SS Coilovers
-Tein EDFC
-Comptech front/rear Sway Bars
-Comptech Strut Tower Brace (front)
Setup #2
-Eibach Springs
-Eibach front/rear Sway Bars
-Tokico Adjustable's or KYB AGX's
-*other brand* front/rear strut tower braces
Setup #3
-replace Eibachs w/ Tein Stech springs
-Comptech front/rear Sway Bars
-Comptech Strut Tower Brace (front)
-Tokico adjustables or KYB AGX's
I like the idea of setup #1, I think it's the most versatile for my needs. I want a set up that will give me superior handling over stock and drop the car a bit. I'm just interested in opinions/factual review on how each setup should perform.... I'm using the car for daily driving and some autox (why not right?).
I've also looked for power adders for this car, and I'm finding it hard to locate good parts. I don't want nitrous seeing as that is straight line advantage only...
I've located a supercharger, fuel system upgrades, cold air intake all from comptech! I've heard good thing's about comptechs equipment, but for the gains according to their dyno's it seems like a hefty price to be paying... Has anyone had any experience with the supercharger system for the TL or has seen any reviews on it on the net that I've missed... possibly any alternative ideas for getting more power outta my motor? |

| I would go with setup #1 as well. The guys to get all that stuff from are PE Tuning. They carry both Comptech and Tein and you won't get a better price from ANYONE around here. No one could touch the deal PE gave me on my Tein's. As for the EDFC, you likely won't be able to use it on your car, as there are a very limited number of vehicles that have the hood clearance to allow them to fit on top of the dampers. But hey, you don't need the EDFC for autocrossing anyway, just adjust manually between runs. The EDFC would really only be useful on a road circuit or on a trip on the highway somewhere when the road surface conditions change. I may by one in the future, but for $500 i spent the money elsewhere for now. The supercharger will be alot of money and the gains don't appear to be really great, but if you want a big increase in power that's really about your only choice unless you want to get a custom turbo setup. As for all the mods, i'd wait for a while before doing them, get used to the car in stock form, but that's just my opinion. |

I'm ready for the mods... I've put 110000ish KM on this car (it used to be my dads ride that I shared with him) SO I just took it over now and figure since I'm selling the Z, mod the TL a lil...
I know the car pretty well in stock form, or at least like to think so! :)
Setup #1 is the most appealing for me. It's roughly $2000 though, which isn't all that bad, but I think like set up #2 is a lot cheaper... :( I think I'm pretty much decided on exactly what I'm doing, but I just like to hear input from other people, especially ppl who use a similar setup.
I also know James/Hanson fairly well, and know exactly what they can get :D so it's all good! :) I deal with them and another shop in the city... :) |

Damn, that's a pretty negative comment. If that was directed at Blaine, he did retract his statement once he was proven wrong.
A retard? No. A professional? Yes. Maybe that's why I keep dealing with him and not other shops like say....Midas. |

I've spoken with a few shops in the city and out of the city that are run by friends.
I'm just waiting on selling the Z so "my" tein's will come in.
haha :)
Midasguy, I have respect for a lot of the people on this forum. I find that the shops that do post usually have something good to offer. Don't stoop to an EZ level if you and another shop are not agreeing with each other. Although thanks for the tip, I have spoken with a friend from Fibertech :)
*cough cough* LOOKING FOR SPONSORSHIP = free install...*coughcough* hahahahah j/k |

If only you knew how much I paid for that TL... I don't think anyone's seen a deal like that :D
and 18's or 19's will be summer tires, and 17 lightweights for autox, and my 16's (until I upgrade brakes) for winter... :) I have plans, but suspension will take all my mod money for now if I'm going with high end stuff like tein and comptech! :)
aND IF somebody is looking for a beater.... they are welcome to look at my 224rwhp turbocharged 14 second beater :D If the price is right ;) |
