alberta licenceing system? - Click HERE for Original Thread

so if someone comes from a different province and switchs there licence over to alberta do they have any record of history from that province : ie any fines from the province licence suspensions etc say lived somewheres and lost your licence but still has the card for it and comes to alberta and applys for alberta and hands in the one from the other province will there be any record or do they just look at the licence from the issued province and give you an alberta one accordingly.

jarago
no they dont' have a record, you have to supply a record if you want insurance and what-not. Alberta has no knowledge in their systems what you've done in any other province.

All fines have to be paid off before Alberta will issue you a new liscense and if you are suspended in another province you will not get a liscense in Alberta either. If you have had incidents in another province but your liscense is still good here and you have no fines owing your new drivers abstract in Alberta will be clean.

when i switched mine over from saskie, i had 2 unpaid fines and it didn't matter. your licence just can't be suspended. and as far as the drivers abstract, it doesn't show if the fines are paid or not, just that you have tickets.

yeah i moved here with a 1 week licence suspension ( automatic if you get a ticket on a gdl licence in N.S
came here they didnt even know what kind of licence i had ( asked me if it was a gdl or fully licenced and being the dumbass i am said i was still gdl)

but im just researching so i can try something thatwill allow me to take my adv road test and rid of my gdl in my home province and just tell them i lose my licence and get a new one as they will have no recrd of the tickets owing in ab :)
