Hi everyone for those of you who don't know me my name is Lee I drive the Grey Lancer. Any ways recently my dad was hit hard with cancer. Like it hit us out of know where as my dad was really healthy. Well as it tuns out my dad got colon cancer and he's had for about 4 years funny how nothing came up until 2 months ago. Well the cancer has spead over his whole lower abdomin, lungs, liver and is slowly working it's way up. My dad went to the cross cancer last week for more test and they came back saying that with out the treatments he has 8 months with the treatments he'd be lucky to get 2 years, as it is spearding way to fast for them to stop it. I would like to put together some sort if charity event with all procedes going to cancer reasearch. Any one who has been in this situation knows how I may feel right now. It really hurts being 21 and knowing your dad won't be around to even see grand kids, or to experiance the other things in life. Sorry for my spelling it really sucks.
well let me know if any of you are interested on doing a charity event for cancer.
I've made this same post on Mitsunation and Underground Sport Tuners, as the more support the better. I also have hook ups with a few shops around edmonton and looking into getting them involved to host an event.
Thanks for any support, if you need to contact me please email me or call me rydbmx@hotmail.com or 780-914-9427 |

| i feel for ya man. i lost my dad to pancreatic cancer 2 years ago. its a shitty unfair deal. there are many events that go to cancer research. there was a huge one last year in calgary. i raised money by doing some installs for donations, then presented the check at the event. i'd be glad to help out if you are putting something together. |

agreed to the fullest extent, my dad is a survivor, he had 3 weeks to live at the beginning and it is now a year after his treatments. there is hope out there, sometimes the doctors are wrong with the severity of the cancer. anyways, i am in for anything going down for cancer, and my prayers are with you!

count me in to help!
first step prolly be decided exactly what it would be, when, and con some place into letting us use their lot... from there it be a matter of publicity and getting some awesome sponsers and shit, which Im sure with all the connections people have on here it would be wicked.
could be pretty huge! |

I totally understand how you feel. My dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (sp?). It was the hardest thing that I had to deal with in my whole life. I was in my mid 20's when he was diagnosed and they gave him 5 years to live. There is no cure for Multiple Myeloma.

Rx7 club
srt club
lancer club
sufi
supra club
mr2club.
and list goes on. |

ya bro that is very harsh, probly the hardest thing anyone could ever have to deal with. I totally agree with everyone else, it is the best cause you could have for everyone to come together. At the same time, it could get the word out to the edmonton/alberta/canada ect.... that people with tuners are not just a bunch of street racers looking for trouble. It would show that we all do care about the everyday things that are problems or cause pain in not just ours, but everyones lives all across the world.
I lost my grandpa who I was very close too when I was 13. He also had colon cancer and it attacked his liver which he had removed and the it spread to his lungs and finally to his brain. And just recently my uncle was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent treatments and all of the cancer was removed. Then last week we were hit with news that it had come back and we don't know what will happen from here.
Things like this that could happen to anyone at anytime should really put things into perspective for people who take advantage of life. Because no amount of money, or time, or the nicest cars could ever keep anyone safe from a major disease like cancer.
In times like this when the only thing you feel is sadness and alot of pain and you wonder why this has happened to you or your realative ect. just remember that you are not alone and there is not a single person on this planet that would not support what we or anyone is trying to do to give to cancer research.
So from my perspective, I say a big YES! to the go ahead of putting together a charity event that all the proceeds go towards cancer research. |

| I'm just awaiting a call back from the Canadian cancer sociaty but yes what i was thinking was doing a huge show and shine/BBQ with all proceds going to cancer research. My only issue is that i'm having a hard time contacting some of the other car clubs in edmonton, Corvette, mustang, Mopar etc. I want to get as many car clubs here in edmonton together for this event but we're all going to have to get along. some recent post of kinda worried me about the tuners here in edmonton. We're all going to ahve to work together as a group to get this to work, I say this as i'm a member of mitsunation and Underground. Just want it all to work out with out any issues of rival clubs. |

every things worked out
and if ppl cant get along for a charity event then there fucking idiots |

| ya i agree................ the more the merrier! |
|

so all in all does everyone agree in doing a local charity event such as a crusie or gathering for the childrens stollery hospital. and then we can leave ccc4c to do their own event but still all who wish, can participate in that one aswell?
i would love to get something organised asap. i have a few great ideas so whoever is interested in getting involved in the organisation please contact me and we will get something started! :blue: |
|
|
| MS3 |
| i think this idea is more for the canadian cancer society not the stollery, but i am in for both... more so for the cancer fundraiser tho, as i have it in my family also |

once we can get a solid locations/day/time/etc and know exactly what would be marketed, I can start trying to spread the word (I usually have a lot of spare time at work inwhich to post on billions of other boards and try to contact other organizations, etc, but would prefer to have a poster or at least solid title/dates to pass around)
This is an awesome idea, btw to the original poster. like everyone has said, cancer touches EVERYone in some form out there.
my dad has lymphoma, undergoing chemo for a couple years now. I always do tons of charity runs and walks, but I think something like a local car show or whatever is so much more open to a different 'side' of the community and everyone in between. |

| Well i finally got a response back from the Canadian Cancer Sociaty and well they told me no as i'm not the owner of a company and they don't see a car club being a big enough organization. I'm still going to keep trying but don't know what is going to happen. Fucking bullshit if you ask me like come on you try to do something good and get shut down. |
|
|
| RotaryJunkie13B |
they turned it down....
oh god..
fuck em then |
|
|
| shortie |
wow thats ridiculous!
I still think it is a great idea regardless, can still be done without them though |

You know what you do is raise the money on your own, set it up WITHOUT the help of these organizations and just present them a cheque after the event has been completed.
If they didn't want to be a part of you the first year, I am sure they will change their minds for the next event.
Also, PM me, I have some information you need to know about putting together a cruise/convoy type of thing. Not sure exactly what you will be doing but you may need to contact transportation canada and get a permit. I have the forms and info. PM me with your email addy and I can forward them to you. |

The canadian cancer society is a joke. Last year we raised almost $50,000.00 for them and we did not even get a thanks. I do not remember the exact figure. We had almost no support from them, it was almost impossible to pull this thing off.
This year is different.
Don't worry about the different car clubs not responding.
I had to pull teeth to get responses back from clubs such as the mopar club, main street cruisers, etc.
I find that people will either be not interested, or could not give the courtesy to send a reply.
Anyways, if I can help you out let me know.
I have the contact info for IKEA. The issue you might run into would be having the lot full of participants during their store hours.
Don't let someone stomp on your dream. Run with it and run as fast and as hard as you can. |
