| good price = as cheap as possible |

| si is the fastest, and i think dx is the slowest, as in horspower rating, and each one has their own trim levels and such. |

The CRX came in two different trim models in Canada with the 91 year getting an extra trim level, SE. Down in the States, they got another trim level for all generations, an HF which ranks as the lowest on the hp ratings but the highest on the fuel economy.
84 to 87 is the first gen model with two trim levels, dx being the lower and Si being the top.
The 88-91 is the 2nd gen model with the same two trim levels, dx and Si.
The CRX Resource will provide you with all the info you need about these awesome cars.
A good price is like what Reflux said. For these cars, it can range from 2500 (good) all the way upward to over 10,000 (ridculous!). Now these prices all depend on the condition of the car. Rust is a huge factor, the rear fender wells are prone to rusting out due to the sunroof drain plugs on the Si clogging or popping off and letting water collect inside of the unprotected area. On the dx, rust is also a culprit as the gaskets between the rear tail lights and body are over 15 years old.
The 88-91 Si, with it's d16a6 engine, 1.6 litres is rated at 109 hp and 101 lbs/ft. They came with a sunroof, stock Recaro seats and CRX stitched into the door panels. The 88 came with passive rear steering where the rear wheels will adjust it's toe to help in turns. However that was very unpredictable and was thus removed from the North American market in the following years. The 90-91's came with rear disk brakes. All year's of the Si had MPFI or multi port fuel injection. This is what you need if you wish to really tune that car. All motors that are worth while to put into the CRX will require this set-up. Now that doesn't mean a dx can't have a motor swap done to it, it's just a little more involved in the wiring. The Si is a good base to start off with for engine swaps.
The dx trim level came with the d15b2, a 1.5 litre engine rated at 91 hp and 89 lbs/ft. All generations have rear drum brakes. The engine had DPFI, or Duel Point Fuel Injection, it had two fuel injectors up stream of the throttle body. People have called this set-up glorified carbs. It runs on the same idea, mix fuel and air and let the piston on the downstroke suck the needed mixture into it's chamber compared to the Si's which had four injectors firing fuel into each chamber. The 1990 dx you are looking at can be turned into a psuedo Si by swapping the intake manifold from the Si's MPFI system onto the dx's head. My car is a dx with this set-up.
If there is anything else you need to know about these cars, please ask. |

Thanks a ton kato! u sure helped me out a lot,
the whole 96 HP and 81 FT/LBS thing might take some getting used to from 210 and 340 :S haha ill jsut have to do a swap and turbo it!
and Chris, probly not its a guy i work with and he lives on the east side. Red with mags and a rocketlauncher exhaust....possibly louder than yours hehe.

No problem, the 91 hp isn't that bad when your in a car that ways around 2000 lbs.
I also forgot to mention that the MPFI swap should also include the Si camshaft swapped into the dx's d15b2 engine's head as well, the net result is a whopping 102 hp. With my current set-up, that's what I'm pulling at the wheels, got the dyno sheets to prove it.
In a few months, my buddy will have all the parts to do the MPFI swap into a dx as he's dropping in a ZC real soon.
Parts needed are the Si Distributor, Si Camshaft, Intake Manifold with all sensors attached, Throttle Body, Si ECU. You will also need a few extra parts and what not. It's a real simple job to do. |

only slow speed steering will be slightly tougher... but on a car that light i dont think that you will miss it too much. My buddy has a DX 4dr civic and it has no power steering... I wouldnt have been able to tell..
