It's the worst feeling in the world to wake up and see your windows smashed. .
My garage and alarm helps alot. But nothing is bullet proof. These jackasses want into your car, they'll get in.
But, obviously there's a demand for this or else they wouldn't be doing it.
I just pray for both our sakes that you clean my shit out without me catching you, or else you'll have a Louisville slugger embedded in your head and I'll be in jail. Bastards. |

i had my deck stolen when i used to live behind richards pub.. i tell you these pricks have a whole underground organised gang for this shit.. i got my deck installed at international stereo, when i didnt know how to install them, and they asked me for my address and shit, i thought nothing of it.. like 2 days later or something, i woke up opened my car, and my deck was gone... no damage whatsoever to the vehicle though which was wierd.. i had a viper alarm system, and i'm positive my doors were locked cause when i arm my alarm, the doors automatically lock. after carefull inspection, i noticed that my passenger side door lock was loose, but not even a scratch in the paint.. my wire running from my maplights on my mirror had been snipped, and they actually took off my dome light cover, removed the bulb and layed it neatly on my seat.. the deck had been removed without damage to my dash, and my subs in the trunk, my 50cd's, and my girlfriends wallet with about 30 bucks in it hadn't been touched..
like a week later, i heard something coming from the parking lot at about 4am, so i walked to my window to see what was up... there were these 2 pricks looking in my windows with a maglight... so i ran to my closet, grabbed my baseball bat, threw on my winter boots , still in my underwear, and ran outside.. when the fags saw me they jumped in their car, and tried to f@cking run me over... i yelled at my g/f to call the cops, hopped in my car and followed them.. i lost them at one point, and then noticed their car parked at richards, so when the cops showed up i pointed out the car, and they said it was stolen.. i continued to drive around and noticed that there was a mechanics truck parked in the parking lot of a apartment near by and all these guys were getting tools and shit... my guess is they see the car they wanna rip off, go meet up with this dude and get the proper jimmy or tool to break in ...
i also seen another car getting broken into on the way back to my place... so i put my brights on em and honked my horn for a bit till they fucked off... but yeah... thats my story.. car jackers/ stereo thiefs, whatever you wanna call em should be shot in the face. |

I had my old S15 Jimmy broken into and stolen.. they got my deck and sub/amp. They broke into it in broad daylight at south commons cineplex odeon. That poor thing has been broken into soo many times :(
Definatly, I think if we find someone breaking into OUR property, than we should beable to defend it. Everybody's definition of "defending" will probly be different, but I think we should beable to do anything from Roshambo'in the dood to breaking his kneecaps with a bat.. What gives them the right to take our shit we worked for?

:werd: I had my porsche sittin in my garage.. top off but locked and alarmed, windows up.. forgot to close the overhead door and overnight the thief (who wore leather gloves) unlocked the p.s door with the alarm on, pulled out the brand new sony mex-5di (1400 msrp) that I had just bought and snipped the RCA's (which on this model are soldered onto the deck so this guy musta known how to do this or known someone who could replace the RCA's.. closed the door just before it clicked and walked away and right around 5 a.m and i live in a fairly affluent area... I took it to IS and they said :idunno: about the door pins and the fact that the f@cking alarm doesn't do anything (if you kick the tire with all your might the shock sensor might go off, both door pins don't work) happened to slip their minds :thefinger: :thefinger: :thefinger: :thefinger: :thefinger: :thefinger: |

I say we all pitch in 10 - 15$ watever, and go to international stereo and ask if they could "install this deck for you" and get them to install a really nice deck in the car, happily give them the adress. Then all 10 of us wait in the dark till they come. and beat him senseless till hes almost dead.

They found the truck totaled a few days later.
But insurance paid me out good, so I was pretty happy. Plus after buying the truck i realized that the truck was somewhat of a lemon, it needed a TON of work. |

6k damage on a focus? what did they do? Lemme guess. Bash the shit out of the steering colum trying to steal it only to learn that you have that PATS system and need a key (Happened to me to),
My bill was only for 4800 when someone tried to steal my car/deck. |

chev blazers, jimmy's are about as easy to slip into as a pre-lubed dome
Its like GM never thought someone would want to break into one..

Here's some precautionary measures some people I know take to prevent car/property theft.
-When going to a shop of any kind, if you have an alarm, it's possible for somebody to make a copy of that alarm if they find it. So I knew one guy who took his out. This prevents them from simply walking up to your car and pressing the "disarm" button while you are away.
-Install 2 alarms. If they break in, find one, and disable it, the other one will still be going and they will give up.
-One of the obvious is, get a removable face plate.
-If you buy a used car of any kind, change the locks or change something to prevent them from entering with a key they pre-cut before they sold it to you.
Those are just a few thing some people do. If it doesn't stop the theif, it'll delay him in some way so you can find him and beat him senseless. |

alot of those have codes you have to input after power is removed from the deck, and most of the time they are not flashy at all.. Some MFG's go as far as to put the ECU in the deck, and if its removed your car will cease to function.

I've gone 10 years with a $15,000+ stereo installed in various easy to break into sports cars (such as my 300ZX with T-Tops)
Simply stated you just have to think like a thief.... the more security you have the more interested they are.... I was told this by a pro who makes a living off of stealing car audio ( a friend of a friend that I hate.... I spend all night insulting him whenever my buddy brings him along )
I have never had an alarm....sometimes I even leave the doors unlocked and or the windows down. (this gives the appearance you will be back any second)
I have allways tied into the starter solinoid and setup a relay on the starter solinoid control wire. I usually have a fuse wired into a very obscure place that is not obvious. When I put the fuse in the relay connects the starter solidnoid control wire...when the fuse is out the connection is dead and it is impossible to start the vehicle unless you get under the car and hotwire the solinoid.
Here are my rules:
1) install must be totally transparent so nothing looks "non stock" which includes removing the entire face off my factory stereo and hot glueing it to a template that fits over my aftermarket deck. (put it on every time I park)
2) Never show off the stereo to anyone I don't know.
3) Turn down the volume 2 to 3 blocks from anywhere I plan to park.
4) Set up a roundabout route at home that allows me to see if I'm being followed. Basicly I drive past my place go around back through an alley and back onto the street (takes an extra 30 seconds but I've caught at least 6 people following me over the last 10 years)
(hot glue comes off easy so you can reinstall the face on your factory deck once you are ready to sell the vehicle)
This won't work for everyone but I've had zero vandalism or break ins ( I even live in a crappy area of Millwoods and have never had a problem) |
|
|
| lovemytrx |
| Errfinder you live in Milloods, you better duck man. Stereo getting jacked is one of the least of your worries. How about drive by shootings? I used to have radar detectors getting jacked all the time, so I don't bother with those and since I just like my stock stereo, that's not a concern either. But if I you catch someone breaking in to your vehicle, I'd like to give them a beating they would never forget. Makes you wish you were living in the States, SHOOT EM. Sad to see these are the times we live in. |

I had my deck stolen out of my car during a workday right across the street from the main police station downtown! My car was parked right along the edge of the street.
When I went to report it, the bored "I could give a rat's a$$ about your car stereo" cop asked me if I knew how many times their cars get broken into right behind the police station!
My car has been "entered" some 5 times since then, but everytime they find the same thing: nothing of value, the faceplate on the detachable deck is not in the car, neither is the registration or insurance papers, the glove box and centre console are empty, as is the trunk. The car's left unlocked so they don't damage it, and there's a brake pedal "club" installed so they can't take it.
I wish I didn't have to work in the cesspool area of downtown, known as Boyle street, but I don't have a choice.......... |

Gentlemen;
I would advise you to temper your thoughts of taking part in an operation such as this. The courts would take an extremely dim view of what would be considered REASONABLE and APPROPRIATE actions.
Beating the cr@p out of someone who breaks into your house and attacks your family would be considered reasonable. Beating the cr@p out of someone for stealing a car stereo does not qualify as reasonable. It qualifies as Assault and Battery.
You could end up in far more trouble than the stereo thief. Assault and Battery carries a much longer jail sentence than Theft under $500 does.
Vigilantiasm sounds great, but.............................. |

Erfinder has pretty much got it right. the BEST thing to do is to get people to not touch your car in the first place. A massive alarm and a million blinkey lights will help, but to some people it will just tell them you've got something really nice you're trying to keep safe.
car alarms are only so good. most people dont even thing twice when they hear a car alarm going off in a parking lot. but it is nice to have an alarm with starter kill, so that if they do manage to get in, they cant start the vehicle.
mechanic22.... TWO alarms, man WTF are you smokin? lol. its not possible to just "go up to someones car with a viper keyfob and disable their alarm"... The keyfobs need to be programed from the alarm brain itself. look on the back of a DEI keyfob, theres over a million rolling codes in existance right now. also, two alarm modules is a retarded thing to do for so many reaons. |
|
|

I have been looking at making an alarm system and selling it ever since I got out of NAIT ( took Electronics Eng. Tech.) and the best idea I have come up with involves that nasty fog/smoke they use at dance clubs.
I figure you can't steal what you can't see.
When the alarm triggers it shoots that fog into the car and I guarantee you more than a couple of people are going to come running when they see smoke billowing from your car (thinking it's on fire)
Everyone ignores loud alarm sounds but smoke will bring them running every time.
The only problem is the aftersmell.... not sure if it would end up making your car stink.
I have made several tesla coil generators in the 500,000 to 2,000,000 volt DC range but I've been told that if I zap someone they can bring up charges against me. ( the zap won't kill you since it's high voltage low current DC....but it hurts like hell....trust me I've touched high voltage DC on more than one occasion....one time it left my arm numb for about an hour, I was freaking out and almost went to the doctor...but the feeling came back slowly....kinda feels wierd like you hit your funny bone or something  )
Even 550Volts DC makes you jump (I make geiger counters for detecting radiation which require a 450Vdc to 800Vdc power source)
Man that would be great to see the look on a theifs face when they touch the door handle and get a jolt that makes all the muscles in their hand contract all at once (hurts for about a second or so but it sure wakes you up...forget coffee just give me a little jolt of high voltage in the morning :D ) |

Too bad we all didnt live in South Africa, where its legal to have flamethrowers mounted under the doors, activated when the alarm is triggered.
Or pepper spray nozzle mounted in the steering wheel.
Or how about a big spring loaded blade that swings outfrom underneath the car, taking the theif, and his ankles, by surprise!
Yeah but that might get you into trouble!

I had a friend working in Houston Texas a few years back, and your idea is similar to the problem they had down there.
Muggers with machetes were hiding underneath cars in parking lots. When the owner came up to the car, the mugger would slash their ankles with the machete, and then crawl out, and rob the owner, while he's in extreme pain, rolling around on the ground.
The police were warning people to look under their cars before approaching them. Pretty sick, eh? |

While we are on the topic and someone mentioned the alarms with the million plus "rolling" codes..... can someone explain to me exactly how these work?
I have had them before and I know that I can drive to one end of the city, arm my alarm with one remote (while the other remote is on the other side of the city) then later come back with the other remote and it has no problem disarming the alarm and apparantly figuring out what the latest code is...
It just sounds like a scam to me. :wtf: |

I say we all pitch in 10 - 15$ watever, and go to international stereo and ask if they could "install this deck for you" and get them to install a really nice deck in the car, happily give them the adress. Then all 10 of us wait in the dark till they come. and beat him senseless till hes almost dead.
That would teach him a lesson, And im sure he wouldnt be doing it again anytime soon!
so whos up for my idea?
--ThE EdGe

| Thieves really chap my ass. You spend all that time andd money having something nice and some ass who owns nothing of his/her own or they would have respect for your propert, takes yours. And if there is even a remote chance they get caught they get a slap on the wrist and a dont do that again. And if you happen to catch them and take the law in to your own hands you become the criminal. A few years ago I caught 3 young offenders breaking into my truck. I snuck up on the one outside the vehicle as the other 2 where in the truck. He had a bat, which I got away from him and the other 2 came out of the truck and they decided to jump me, while I was holding the bat. To make a long story short they were unsuccessful in taking me down and they all got a trip to the ER. They charged me with assault and many dollars spent on a lawyer later I got the charges dropped. I was the victim in all this and got punished for it.......... :wtf: |

| Hmm that car is awfully familiar. Did you have it at west ed about 1 or 2 years ago right in the mall, showing it off on behalf of some audio shop at the mall? Because i remember it had the same set up and it had ZEX. If it is i remember that was a dope set up man. |

SilverZ24, if you have 2 keyfobs for your alarm system, both are programmed to work with your car... you can program as many keyfobs as you like to work with your alarm.
But lets say you have a viper 125 alarm... if some joe blow was to go purchase a viper 125 keyfob, it would NOT be able to disarm your alarm, unless the remote has been programmed for your car. this involves getting at the brains of the unit, and cannot be done without access to it.
im not sure if thats what u wanted to know  |

Or how about a big spring loaded blade that swings outfrom underneath the car, taking the theif, and his ankles, by surprise!
Pretty sick, eh?
sounds like an urban legend. |

That's my wife, she usually has the car while I'm at work. The meaty sound is from the new Magnaflow system - I love it! Lot's of internal mods as well, gives it a nice sound. |

| colossus ---> The Magnaflow system? Yeah it was worth it. Engine back is 2 1/2 mandrel then splits to 2 1/4 into a pair of Magnaflow mufflers. It was too loud at first so I had a Magnaflow res. put in line. The performance over the stock system is night and day. Only thing I wish is that my car didn't have two exhaust cutouts on the rear side skirt, I would have prefered a single exhaust. |

Hey Kev, just wanted to know where you happened to purchase your Magnaflow system from. I haven't had much luck finding anything with the right bends to get around 'our' car's corners,... :(

Call me at Autotoyz 484 0721, every mod to my car has been sourced through the store. Bring the Z by some day let me take a look. You won't regret the Magnaflow system, great performance and a wicked sound behind the 3.4! |

Whats a "res."?
res. ---> resonator, a 'pre-muffler'. I found it took all of the 'snap' out of the exhaust sound, and lowered the tone. |

Midas can get Magnaflow in also.
if your looking for sound though I would go with some Ravin "mufflers".
I've installed these on many a vehicle they sound nice.
they are louder then a magnaflow though, WAY louder. |
