why do cops pick on me???!!!! - Click HERE for Original Thread

hontuner
Hey guys,

I was jus wondering if anyone else has this problem......

I live in stony plain (don't laugh i already know what your gonna say lol) and for some reason, i can't go anywhere without being pulled over. It makes me so mad because i never get a ticket for anything and the cop never has a good excuse to why he/she is pulling me over. on quite a few occasions i have been pulled over 5 times in one night. All the cop asks is what i'm up to and what i have planned for the night...... WTF! leave me alone! i have done nothing against the law and i don't understand why i'm being pulled over. I now just expect to be pulled over atleast twice when i'm in town because i always do. i don't have loud exhaust, don't street race (in town lol), ect.....

I thought maybe because my car is black on black and kind of draws a little bit of attention but i have never seen gregs gtr, travs lude, ect. ect. pulled over ever for being a nice car. There are plenty of nicer cars in town that would make my car look like a fisher price toy haha. as soon as i am in edmonton and pass a cop he never even turns his head....... something wrong here that i don't know about???

Thanks, Mike.

Driven
5 times in one night? :bs:

hontuner
1) IGA parking lot just off the 5th, 2) 7-11 parking lot on the fifth 3) Pulling out of the Red Rooster east of the 5th 4) Main Street 5) passing Kaltire....... i hope you can count. :D

anschutz_93
You get pulled over because you are of the brownish persusion and wear your hat with a little too much toe out :dunno:

hontuner
haha thats funny. no, actually i don't wear a hat and when i do it's a sparco hat, and i'm so white you could see me glowing through my tint haha

deathwarden5
They're not picking on you, they're protecting you. Just like it says on the cruisers.

It does say that on the cruisers right? Never really noticed if i did or not. That " TO PROTECT AND SERVE" and what not.

hontuner
haha protecting me from what??? honda power? i highly doubt that. what makes me so special haha

I thought only the cars in the states have that marked on their car. correct me if i'm wrong though, i'm not a 100% sure.

deathwarden5
They pull you over before the VTEC kicks in. Thats protection right there.

EDIT: nvm. I don't think you have VTEC, unless thats a GS-R your sportin.

Those are the common places they pull people over in stony. If your at the 7-11 after 9:30 they will harass you, for those from stony, the red is self explanitory. Im not sure why you would be near the kal tire if it was late and could understand why they pulled you over around that area. Im pretty sure there is something that you dont see, in stony if you are young, male, and driving some kind of import in any of the locations you have listed, they will pull you over. I've lived in stony for over 20 years, ive been in a similar situation to yours and the thing that solved it was just hanging out at peoples houses instead of crusin around town. I wouldnt complain to much because you havent been issued any tickets.

haha ya i understand what you mean. but still, why? they obviously have nothing better to do then to pull people over because they drive an import. I just recently got a stunting ticket for driving through the parking lanes of safeway while i was following my buddy who also drives an import, i tried to fight it but only got off with a cheap bill and lots of demerits. apparently the had a "video tape" of us stunting. when my buddy went to court for that ticket, they pulled the "video tape" crap on him. He asked to see the tape and guess what??? Somehow they misteriously couldn't find it! what a suprise! he got let off with out even a slap on the wrist. pretty stupid if you ask me

I honestly don't know... maybe the time of night? location? unlawfull parts on your car (tint, blue head lights, ect...) Sorry man, I don't have a better answer...

Maybe stop hanging out in parking lots. Drug deals are often made there.

I live in Spruce Grove and I have noticed there are tons of cops out here compared to Edmonton. Or at least they are more visible out here. I'm assuming Spruce and Stony share the same group of RCMPs since they are so relatively close to each other.

At least when they pull you over they aren't writing a fist full of tickets or pulling some power trip. Maybe they just like you, or one of them thinks your pretty.

Golly…. You got a purdy mouth…

I have been making a few runs out to spruce grove over the past few weeks. I have not noticed any RCMP on the roads. :dunno: Maybe my 84 pickup is that fast… Lightning…fast as lightning baby.. All you see is a white rusty streak.

As for the OP…Could be the time of day, location, something your doing. :dunno:

hontuner
haha ya i think you guys are right, but in a town that small with nothing to do and all of my money invested in my car it just seems the obvious thing to do is to drive the dam car! haha and the boredom hits and we sit in a parking lot trying to figure out what to do next. and then immediatly it looks like a random tuner meet in little stony plain at 7-11. Hopefully they don't come out with a ticket for having too much time on your hands..... i would be in debt!

And as for tint and a "cannon"..... no i dont have a cannon, two small chrome tips and competely legal exhaust (borla baby!), and i do have tint all the way around but i always roll down my windows when my spidey scenses start going crazy because there is a cop around.

The funniest thing is when i'm sitting in parking lot (for example), and a cop drives by...... lays on the brakes.... sits for a couple min.... then backs up and sits right in front of me and just stares at me for minutes not blinking haha ........ like come on, your not being paid to harrass or stare at people with done up vehicles...... do something productive! i'm sure theres things more important than that...... DUI's, BAE, Vandalism, Speeding, ect........ murder??? anything???

And the part i hate most is the atempt at intimidation. "Hey there is a tuner over there, lets speed and ride his bumper to see if we can make him speed and then well pull him over and give him as many tickets as possible! High Five!" says Const. Stardenko haha

hontuner
I hate when i get pulled over and the officer says "i'm gonna do you a favor and only give you a warning instead of a "street racing" ticket because i could hear your engine revving up while you were accelerating to get up to the speed limit from the light"........ "Thank you officer, I am really sorry about that, it will never happen again! You have my word! have a good night!"

AudiInProgress
That's bullshit. They're called speed limits for a reason... I've never heard of an "acceleration limit" so long as you're not accelerating so hard that you break the tires loose - you should be able to accelerate (up to the speed limit) as fast as you fucking want.

-rob

hontuner
Thats exactly what i said. i never spun the tires and i never passed the speed limit. Then i was told i was lipping off and i would get a ticket for that too. so i just appologized and i got a warning.

arabian_ryda
loool your plate is black listed straight up. u have reports under your plate when cops run it they can see previous notes by other cops.

go get a new plate and hopefully u dont get hassled anymore.

Simple. It means you are no longer invited to the annual Christmas party.

hontuner
haha thats funny. well frick around i just got a new plate not even 2 months ago.

arabian_ryda
depending on the prevoius tickets and how u handled yourself with previous cops they will make notes under your plate everytime u get pulled over.

why do u think they say ""if i catch u again"" if u dont take off your tint/exhaust/speed etc etc they will just go through your history!!!

like i got a tint ticket and a week later i got another one becuase the cop had made notes under my plate about tint the prevoius week even after i told him i would take it off on the spot he still wrote me a ticket cuase i had told the other cop i was taking it off right away ahaha.

my dad got 2 tickets in one week and treated the cop like an ass for about a month after he was getting pulled over everytime a cop pulled up behind him changed his plate and problem went away.

DAMMIT....... well your a dick and that's all there is too it.

Dan_Gyoba
Well, before this devolved into honda mud-slinging...

I've been pulled over a few times in the neighborhood of the Misercordia hospital. Actually, an inordinate number of times. Enough that I've started avoiding 87 Ave east of 170th until at least 159st.

Once in particular, was due to complaints about someone in a "red Camaro" doing doughnuts in the Meadowlark Zellers parking lot. The officer thought that my Supra looked close enough that the complainer might have mistaken my car for one. (Though the officer did know the difference. Cool guy, actually.)

A couple of times there had been reports of someone racing in the area, with "red import" or "red sports car" being one of the descriptions.

Once it was a radar trap. I wasn't speeding, but for whatever reason the radar said I was. When the officer came back to my window (after a 10 minute wait) he told me that I could go. No ticket, no warning, nothing. (I was initially told that I was clocked at 68 right after being pulled over.)

It's never resulted in a ticket, but it has resulted in me being later than my wife would have liked.

hontuner
haha so no matter how you look at it your in shit some way or another

mikestang
ive been pulled over probably 50 times now in the last 3 years, and i have about 30 tickets.. and its really just avoiding certain places, as soon as you have a nice vehicle or two sitting alone somewhere it immediately strikes up a drug deal warning to cops.. and not many cops out here really care about tint.. just a few of them, they cycle out every 5 years (rcmp) and yeah you generally see stony/spruce cops in both towns/surrounding areas-they arent city police, their jurisdiction goes by county, once they leave they need permission (atleast thats what i was told by one of them)

7 speeding tickets, 1 stop sign, 1 red light, 2 stunting (no demerits), 1 excessive speeding, suspension paper, 1 fail to yield, 1 fail to yield for pedestrian on the other side of the road (so sorry)

then for shit that doesnt matter.. 4 or 5 photo radar, 4 tint tickets, 2 no papers on me..

....off the top of my head.

i think i had my impound bill in there, along with driving while unauthorized.

I even managed to get noise violation tickets in my old house when I was sleeping, which was interesting, but they gave me a nice cardboard slip along with my other parking tickets weee

good thing I sold that car... I drive like a grandpa in my truck for the most part

Godzilla
i have been pulled over in stony plain twice in over 5 years. The first time i was speeding had illegal tail light covers and out of date pink slip (i was let off) the second time it was about 3am on the 628 and the cop just wanted to make sure all was legit. had my car been stolen and joyrided they would have caught it.

How old are you though? i think you may be getting profiled because of age and honda. Personally, i think the RCMP in Stony Plain and Spruce Grove are doing an excellent job.

they do a great job.. there was only2 instances where they pissed me off and 1 of the times he actually lied through his teeth with his superior officer in front of him...

they tend to bug you if you're young and have a decent vehicle because of how many dealers are around... one of the guys who always bugged me thought I was a dealer until he ran into me in a parking lot in my truck, asked what I did... said i was a professional assasin then just told him I worked on the rigs ... he didnt bother me while i was driving my mustang anymore... come to think of it, I ran into him when he was on bike patrol and i was walking around with a couple friends with open liquor because we didnt want to wait 2 hours for a cab, he said something like dont throw the bottles away, and rode off

hontuner
you may have a nice car but it is also white with white rims, nothing drug dealer about that. A black car with all windows tinted on the other hand.... Haha. But I don't even get looks now from cops now that I sold the car. Only time they look is because I'm on "the wrong side of the car" haha. No problems yet!

P_D
ask for a badge numeber and say you will be talking to his boss about this. any time i get a ticket i ask for a badge number weather its a stop sign or a speeding ticket.

hontuner
Haha ya I was told to do that by my buddy, who's dad is a cop. He said he did it and they just left him alone after that.

P_D
and make sure to follow up on it or they will just think its a threat

bananaboat
Hontuner, I doubt it's a coincidence. Why don't you post up pictures of your car and yourself?

The only time I ever get pulled over is when I'm actually doing stupid shit, and even then, half the time they'll let me off without a ticket. :dunno:

darthluder

I live in Stony/Spruce and I have never been pulled over for no reason or been harassed for no reason :dunno: and my car is heatbag (retardedly loud(lame) and pretty low and missing half the interior) keep in mind I also do a lot of night time driving too.

I have been pulled over twice in spruce in the past two summers:

Once for forgetting to turn my headlights on in a parking lot lol, (two cops lol, they were pretty annoying, I think they may have tried to intimidate me :dunno: )

Then once I got warned for stunting, lol I turned around in a culdasack a little quick and it picked up some dust/my exhaust blew blue smoke everywhere haha. I think the cop thought I was doing a burnout, I was like wtf I have a corolla:p He just gave me a warning though, he wasn't a jerk or anything, he was a good guy.

They let us go, then pulled us over and told us that they got whoever was racing...... Wha???!! Why would you pull all of us over to tell us that?

btw, I still don't see how the hell you get pulled over so many times, I havent even been bothered in my z31 which has super tinted front windows. Are you bullshitting us to sound badass? because that's what it seems like, come on 5 times in one night? I don't even think there is 5 cops in Stony plain, let alone on the night shift.

Not my car.

And by the way, as of friday night there was 11 police officers on duty, not including peace officers. It was that way the entire weekend. And incase you didn't know this, stony plain police dept. Is a training facility, which basically means its a bunch of cops trying to make a name for themselves.

And personally I think my teggy is a little more suspicious, and my soarer stands out a little more than a corolla or a Z.

In the entire time I have been driving, I have only been pulled over in stony plain. The cops here have nothing better to do, and now there is a shit load of street racing going on here and you can't disagree with that because I see it every 2 seconds.

And I think its because the fact that these cops see our cars and automatically label us. And I'm not saying they are the greatest in the world because they are far from it. But that's just the way it is, but I have figured that as long as you don't do anything illegal, and you don't back talk, they don't bother you as much.

Motbot,
And as far as trying to sound bad ass, personally I would rather be able to cruize around just one night on the weekend without being pulled over. Its not my choice but it happens. And incase you really wanted to know the truth, just ask (evodude, and/or darthluder) because they were with me. You are in stony a lot because I see you, if you ever want to find out for yourself, come for a cruize with us one night on the weekend, your more than welcome to.

the only street racing i've been seeing in stony plain is some douchefuck in a burnt orange daytona edition dodge half done, he'll race anything with wheels (and more often then not they aren't racing back, he's tried me a couple of times too)

Absolutely it's your choice. Sell the car and buy something less "suspicious".

I had the NSX for 3 summers and only got pulled over once when I didn't deserve it. I've had the S2K for 3 days, have been driving like an idiot, and already have a ticket. It's all about how you drive.

Can you please elaborate on this?
How is it a training facility?

Dunno bout down there, but up here quite often we have 10-15 cruisers(1 or 2 Officers per cruiser) from other areas (Wetaskiwin, westlock, etc) up here for training.. and our station is fairly small... normally we have 6 cruisers.

I don't know if the actual Alberta training centre has been built yet.. I know we where in the final 5 for locations, or whatever, up here...

Its not that I'm driving like an idiot, its just that the cops see me driving a lot, and I mean a lot. My soarer isn't suspicious at all, doesn't even have tint. In stony its just unusual to see 2 fd's, a soarer, an srt4, a prelude, and an evo all either sitting or cruising together. They must think something is up then. I don't get into trouble anymore when I'm by myself, only when I'm cruizing with other nice cars. Kinda sucks.

And as far as a training facility, they come here as fresh graduates, and after a year here or whatever the get sent somewhere else.

Maybe they think you have formed a Criminal Organization?

FYI

In the Criminal Code

Criminal Organization:

Criminal organization means a group, however organized, that is composed of three or more persons in or outside Canada; and has as one of its main purposes or main activities the facilitation or commission of one or more serious offences that, if committed, would likely result in the direct or indirect receipt of a material benefit, including a financial benefit, by the group or by any of the persons who constitute the group.

:stickpoke

Geofux
What's the possible material benefit? It's not like they are racing for each others cars, money, or drugs... or anything of that sort... in fact, not even racing.

Invalid Zero
They are racing for respect. To some people, that's more important.

Haha.

I have to admit, that not doing anything illegal and still being harassed really sucks but I'm pretty well used to it now. And the new cops here are actually half decently nice if you don't bad mouth them the first time you meet them (learnt my lesson the last times). I see fresh faces in the force ready to make a statement, and I guess first impression is everything right? So I bs with them for a bit and they have no reason to pull me over. I'm working on trying this system out and seeing how well it works for me. So far I have had less trouble, but its still there.

There we go, I knew there was a little more to the story! You know at your work when someone is a dick, then you chat with your coworkers over lunch about it? I'm sure cops do the same thing, and the story probably includes the make and model of your car.

Good luck with the new system!

Thanks bud
