The Speak w/ Your Local Law Enforcement section is a Forum where by you, the membership of 780 can ask questions and seek information regarding various laws. This is an open forum where you can speak with members of local law enforcement in a non adversarial exchange.

That being said, we have all had a poor run in's with various members of Law Enforcement.

This thread is meant so you, the violated member, can go on and rant about your recently received ticket or negative run in without fear of being banned or suspended. We all need to vent sometimes.

There is a catch, you can vent on this thread, however keep it civil. Relate your bad experience without being demeaning or derogatory.

With the advent of this thread, let’s keep the rants and B.S. out of the other threads.

And here I thought YOU were going to vent!

BARNSEY
Well i posted a couple threads about this before, and they were just deleted without a reason.

Anyways, a couple weekends ago, I was driving to Whyte ave from WEM. Anyways, i was turning onto Whitemud and a driver of a BMW M3 was driving like a complete a-hole. He was revving his engine at me, trying to get me to race...he decided to pass some cars on the shoulder and continued to try and get me to race. I just drove the speed limit as he sped off. I came to my gateway BLVD exit, turned left and came to a red light. There was that car again, turning back onto the whitemud. Once i got to the red light though, he looked over and saw me, so he reversed and then pulled over to the lane right beside me. Again, he tried to get me to race by screaming out the window, revving his engine. The light turned green and he took off, again i just drove normal. Driving down gateway, about 4 blocks up, just south of the Superstore there were 2 police cars, parked different directions on each side of the road. He turned his blinker on...i thought to myself that he must of been pretty pissed to be driving like that and have the cops see that. He pulled over to where they were, pulled up beside one, rolled his window down and talked to them. As i passed i just laughed....then about a minute later it dawned on me. Was this guy trying to setup people to race so they could be ticketed? It was as if the driver of the BMW knew the cops as he stopped and talked to them. That would explain why he was turning around to go onto the Whitemud again, atleast in my mind.

What is the deal with this? I've heard of some other stories like this, but i never thought it would happen to me. Good thing i don't drive like a retard, or i would probably had a huge fine. Thank god for being a good, sensible driver lol.

if this is in fact the case (intentionally egging on races into a cop trap) somebody better lose their fucking career. i would be curious to know the plate of the m3 and who the reg owner is.

i guess with power comes abuse of that power, i am thoroughly disgusted -no way shape or form would a ricky fucking racer bimmer boy go and have a nice chat with friendly officers if there was any chance someone would call him in for racing and reckless.

fucking disgusting

I don't think that is the case, however... one can never know...

Was it something like EER 333?

Red M3?

Suspicious.

My buddy got revved at by a colorado at some lights and he went kinda hard up the speed limit then let off (destroyed the colorado) the truck went ahead of him exceeding the speed limit and pulled into the side road and next to a cop car that was sitting there (near diamonds)

Well that was anticlimactic.

I was hoping to read about blocker going postal. I guess not.

hmmmm.......sounds like a trap- an illegal, dangerous, stupid, wasteful, reckless, and plain fucking slap in the face to other drivers on the road at the same time trap. grrrr

so we have an M3 (red- but still waiting for absolute conformation) and a colorado .... what color???

we will just have to see how far this thread gets.....since BARNSEY's was deleted we will have to see what happens to this one.

I doubt that the EPS are trying to trap people to race on the streets. It does not make sense.

Why would the OP’s not pull in behind the suspected vehicle when they stopped at the police and make statement along the lines of.. “you know street racing is illegal”

Or… just get the plate and call it in. :D

JoshP2002
I remember pulling up to a light one time, and stopping prior to the line.. then I moved up to the line. The minivan with some older fellow in it decided it would be fun to take me off the line, so I accelerated faster just past 60, and then slow back down - especially when I notice the photo radar on my right. By the time I was side by side with the photo radar, the van was still going hitting about 80-85 and got the ticket.
Haha, I know, bad move but it was funny. I had a good laugh.

BARNSEY
The BMW that i was involved with was silver, the windows were not tinted, and the guy was a bigger fellow...probably in his 30's. Didn't look like some young punk kid racing around.

Too me, after thinking about it, it seemed like he was trying to egg me on...since he pulled up beside me and did the same thing twice.

At the time I really never thought about getting his license plate, but I wish i had.

What a Joker

i got a tinting ticket last year. i bought the car already tinted, but the back was dark and the front was maybe 35-25%. i wasn't speeding, doing anything illegal, nothing, but the EPS decided to pull me over, most likely because i'm a young asian male in a fairly nice car (=drug dealer apparently).
i see at least 5-10 cars a day with limo in the front and i cannot understand why they don't pull them over.

I'm borrowing my buddies CTS with front tint @ like 7%. Has a loud system to, and I can't hear when the cops are coming up. Just 10 minutes ago, I'm driving and making a left. Wonder why the fuck the guys aren't going the other way. then I see a cop make the left to.

Question to blocker : Is this a regular occurence?

Sorry, I am missing something....

Your are driving friends CTS with tint...
You can not hear anything....
You make a left...
Guys have stopped, you don't know why...
A police officer makes a left too...

What is the question? do police make left turns?.. yes.. sometimes right ones too..

Yes... all the time.... It can be quite frustrating

i kinda wish the police would setup a few radar nets on the henday between 3-6pm for three days straight?.. i mean there's some people i'd enjoy seeing caught being dumbasses and weaving through traffic.

arabian_ryda
ive had my front windows tinted 25% backs 5% all year and never been pulled over once. white honda accord with black rims looks exactly like a runner car.

arabian_ryda
last year i had my civic tinted 2% all around. i couldnt see shit all at night i had to roll down my windows to do a lane change:lol:  . but i got ticketed like twice a week so the fun didnt last long.

Honestly I swear your sirens have gotten a lot quieter over the years. I no longer listen to loud music (I like the exhaust sound better) and many times I've just heard the siren and the car is only two to four cars back. You used to be able to hear the things from blocks away. Either that or cars have better sound insulation these days (no my hearing isn't going).

Geofux
I can usually spot stuff because I check my mirrors and glance around when I have loud music going.. and I usually see the vehicle before it's anywhere close to where I am so everyone has the chance to move out of the way... because I'm usually one of the people to make the first move then others catch on and understand wtf I'm doing. :dunno:

Heh I think they've been quiet for a while.. back in 98 I was driving a swift, I didn't even have the music on loud(stock speakers, aftermarket HU).. I happened to glance in my mirror and see a cop on my ass, so I nail the throttle to clear a car beside me, then slow down thinking I'm in shit, no clue how long he had been back there.. I didn't hear the siren til he was beside me with my window down..

Graphicdude
Is there any way you guys can tell the many stupid drivers out there, when they get in minor accidents that they pull off the road so they aren't blocking traffic? Give them a ticket, taser them, club them until they move. I don't care. It just pisses me right off when I see these fuckers taking up a lane of traffic to swap info, call their lawyers or whoever and sit there to inspect the minor scratch to their car.

I know some of these idiots call 911 to report an accident, does the person on the other side of the phone tell them to don't bother waiting for the police, exchange info and get to a station to report it? Or does 911 say, sit there and we will have an officer to assist you in like 2 hours?

I was involved in a accident last year and I was fine, she was fine, although my car needed to be towed, but she insisted on having the police there. Even after I told her, don't bother because no one is hurt and no ambulance is required.

She still called 911 asked for police and was going to sit there for 2 hours waiting for them, for god knows what reason. I didn't. As soon as my car was picked up, I left and filed a statement.

So do these morons call 911 and plead for their lives to have a cop show up? Why isn't 911 telling them to fuck off and quit wasting the cops time on such bullshit incidents?

Just asking :D

BLOCKER
If both vehicles are driveable they are told by the evaluator to report it at a station...

If a vehicle is not driveable a car is usually dispatched...

and yes it can take hours....

Graphicdude
I think if the cop shows up and finds out that the vehicles ARE drivable but the idiot who called in just wanted the police there, should be issued a ticket for blocking traffic and whatever else you can concoct.

But seriously,

Calls for service are rated on a priority system

a collision with no one injured is considered a "priority 5" which is considered a low priority event, which means response to priority 1-4 will come first.

Even if there is a police station close by, they are not figher fighters who sit in a station waiting for a call.

If a police officer is in the station it is usually for one of 6 reasons

1. start of shift
2. tied up on arrest
3. completing reports / paper work
4. eating lunch
5. getting crap from supervisor
6. ending shift
