So I tested my car out, got flashed, I have a mandatory court appearance apparently but can I just go in, pay the ticket and skip the appearance? I mean I am paying it anyways, why waste the judges time?

Thoughts?

arabian_ryda
do u know what mandatory means?

WonWunONE
Means you have to but still, I will just pay it so why bother with court?

arabian_ryda
is there a volentary payment price on the ticket? if not the registered owner of the car must appear before a judge. they have no proof it was you but u have to go. if there is no price it will determined in court what the penalty is.

why u doin 50+ anyways test it on the highway next time or do a slow run down the road your gonna be rippin down so u know its clear common sense bro lool.

BLOCKER
If you were doing 50 over, it would be manditory court, that means you have to go to court...

If there is a voluntary payment option listed, then you can just pay it...

WonWunONE
I'll just go, say I lent the car to my bro and his friends and say i don't know who was driving that night, you can see someone other than me in the car, so i'll point that out as his friend and see what happens?

arabian_ryda
was that u at the 780 meet on the weekend with the white 135i?

WonWunONE
maybe :p

arabian_ryda
lol its all good man i was the guy with the green 325 convertible. u gotta take me for a rip sometime in that thing looks mean.

My thoughts....

You're an idiot.

Show up for the court date.

Familiarize yourself with the word mandatory. http://www.merriam-webster.com/

Lesson learned.

No need to lie... that is perjury.... bad news if you are caught...

plead guilty.... when the judge asks if you have anything to say, say sorry, speak clearly, dress nice...

when he asks about the fine, again say sorry, tell him you need time to pay because your a poor student or whatever the truth is and ask for a year...

poor student driving a brand new 135i lol

i'm not so sure the courts will buy that

WonWunONE
All I wanted to do was to skip court and pay it aka just pay the damn thing and not waste the courts time. How many of you didn't read that part?

I talked to the cop on my soccer team, all I'll bascially have to do is pay it, nothing else will really happen, so I don't care. I just wanted to pay it and get over it.

good point, my bad

the poor student thing will work the 1 series is the least expensive of the brand. Its all how you frame it, be polite and professional and you will be aight- its photo so you can say you are not 100% sure who is driving, however your driving style is not as quick as flashed so say it could have been your wiley younger brother, or your mid-life crisis father since the new car had many test pilots
;)
court is adjourned, your wallet will hurt but that should be it.

on a side note, with a quick car and a heavy foot you may want to check out this site --> valentine1.com - worth every penny, and then some. In the city it is a little silly how it gets triggered by everything but on the hiway it is pure gold.

by the way - sweet car!!!

A loaded 135i is still pushing ~ $50k. The "poor student" thing wouldn't fly with me if I was the judge.

He could be a "poor" student because he bought the car:dunno:

 Good point. Although that would make him a "stupid" student as well.

Yeah.. just because some one has a degree, it doesn't make them smart

Tech2
Why waste the court's time?

Maybe so the judge can talk some sense into you, so that next time you speed 50 over you don't waste someone else's life.

I get tired of variations on "Alcohol, speed, and inexperience were all factors in the crash." We know you've got 2 of those at least.

Dan_Gyoba
Lol. Buying the car could make one a poor student. Sure, it might make one a "dumb" student as well, but that's not hard to accept, considering the offense.

Anyway, you're going to court. Deal with that. Go. Plead guilty. Look sorry. Pay fine. Get on with life. Don't do it again.
