just a heads up these motherfuckers are ignorant i got sworn at my exhaust rattles like a mother fucker and i was ripped off big time 80 bucks for a one foot pipe.
story......
i recently changed the header on my datsun and had to cut the old pipe under the car to get the old one out. i needed a new pipe welded and clamped in so i took it to economy on may23 2008 to get fixed..........
(now i had been there numerous times over the year great GREAAT work everytime clean welds cheap and fair prices and great customer service.)
they are under NEW MANAGEMENT NOW
........ so i pull in all good some hick in a biker jacket looks at it then another biker lookin guy comes and tell me that my exhaust and head lights will get me fined over 1000 by cops(LOOOL) and he tells me dont worry i know the laws and he keeps running his mouth off about the fines and shit i tell him to concentrate on the piece that needs to be welded(1 foot i swear to god)
he comes back and tells me ok its gonna be 80 bucks im like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? hes like im sick of u young punks comin in here lookjin for cheap work i pay my fucking guys 35 bucks an hour(exactly what he said) im like its only 1 foot buddy then he walks away and tells me let me know if u wana do it.
since my car dosn t run( back prssure and timing are out) i had no choice so w/e they still do good work right?
WROOOOONG the biker guy comes back and i tell him how i want it theeeen he tells me how hes gonna do it i fucking yell at him and tell him yooo this is my car not urs so u do it the way i want okie dokie? pissed off and shit he starts working on it finishs it and it looks good but i still cant forget how i was treated like shit. i go to pay and i ask the guy at the front desk(also a biker)
me: u guys busy?
biker guy: not so much
me: your service licks balls thats why!!!
biker guy: excuse me
me: i said your fucking service lick balls and u guys are fucking scam artists give me my fucking recipt u peice of shit. whats the owners number to this shop...
biker guy: i danno ask the guyys in the shop and dont ever come here again!!!
me: dont worry asshole i aint comin back and neither is any1 i know PEEECCE.
after that i walked out got in my car jet it but now the peice that biker fagget welded in rattles when i down shift.
worst service expêreince in my fucking life i was sworn at numerous times when i was talking to them in a perfessional manner.
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT NOW CUSTOMER BEWARE.
i will be contacting the better business bereau on monday these guys are fucking out of control there shop was dead not 1 car there.

I went through something Similar ..
I took Joey's car in to get an exhaust made for it.. and They wanted $140 for a 2" flex pipe. And about $300 for a Mid section in the exhaust.. I already had the Muffler mounted and piped over the axle...
This is how the conversation went down:
Them: "It'll be about $350 for the exhaust".
Me: "Why so much?".
Them: "Well.. The Flex pipe is $140".
Me: "What? $140 for a flex pipe... Why so much?"
Them: "That's the price of the part.. I don't make the prices..."
Me: "Well.. What If I go buy you a flex pipe, and come back?"
Them: "Then you won't be getting it done today.."
Me: "Are you serious?"
Them: "Yes."
Me: "Drop the car off the hoist, and give me my keys."
Them: "Okay?? ... ?"
Me: *Peels Out*.
Me: Went to Partsource, Bought some bends, piping, and flex pipe.. for $140. and went home and welded it all up.
What happened to the Old owners? And Why did Economy Muffler Go to shit?
I used to recommend that place to everyone.
It's a Fucking Bullshit Shop now.. |

the tall bald guy that ust to run the front desk(awesome guy) quite a lil while ago and then shit went down hill.
they had a fleet of unreal exhaust guys i got my whole system and even my coilover perches done at them never had a problem and got a awesome deal back in the day.
nooow they have a bunch of bikers running the show that are suuch assholes ignorant and scaming. from what i was told by my buddie brent who works there is that everyone quit becuase of these new guys and the place has gone to shit. brent will be gone in another month or so.
there parking lot was empty no word of a lie not a single car there i was like wtf.
and im goin there monday to get my money back or there gonna be getting a suprise from me. i dont like being fucked around with by some old faggets that think there hot shit. |

I'm glad you guys are posting this, I haven't been there in awhile but was planning to get an exhaust hanger fixed once I pull my car out for the summer.
Wilf used to own it (the guy who owned the hot rods) and sold it off to some guy from down east, which is when the "bald guy at the front desk" as said above took over. He maintained their service levels, and they were still awesome for me.
But once I saw the new management sign I read a warning on here awhile ago about a shitty experience, and now when I drive by I notice that the parking lot is much, much emptier.
I would assume this all has to do with Fort Road being redone. The land that Economy owns is going to be worth a lot of money in the next several years, and I would think the city might try to "convince" them to sell out so that their ideas for the revitalization take place.
Either way, thanks for posting the feedback. Now that I've read two people with shitty experience I'll start my hunt to find another person to weld my exhaust hanger in a couple weeks. Hopefully I can find one on the northside. |

It wouldn't help. But they did level alot of the ghetto buildings up there.
Economy was awesome to me back when I lived up there. Whole exhaust from turbo back was like $100 (06?). Welded all around then they installed it (now most shops just weld 1/4th to 1/2 around and call it a day). |

Holy shit I thought it was just me who had a bad experience....... I drive a 03 EL (picture a civic) I go in with a CSX exhaust (stock), ask him for a quote and get quoted 200 dollars to cut part of the piping off of the the muffler and to weld it on. He also starts going on about how it might scrape because its a bigger muffler, I was like wow if I want it on there just put it on man...............
P.S. arabian_ryda if you find another reliable place to go for your muffler, please let me know. |

its rattling like a motherf%#ker. i called and apparenlty talked to the shop owner whos was supposidly the biker guy that called me a .....fucking young punk.... he said he wont refund my money and told me to bring it back and they will fix it.
he also hung up on me twice when i started going off on him on how i was treated and then he calls me back? wouldnt give me his name and said i was the mouthy guy with the little datsun lool cant believe his guy. he was like..."where trying to get rid of all the customers lookin for low income work" hahaha this guys done.
should i make them redo it? i will be watching the whole time to make sure they dont fuck up or do anything to my car. |

I had DECENT work from Thrifty Muffler on the west end, 156st... Seemed like honest guys when I went a few years back...
For an exhaust shop... If you want it done a Certain way.. You should be allowed to hang with the workers and help them out... And Show them EXACTLY what you want.
If you have too.. Sign a liability contract before hand, if the Hoist fails or something... :dunno: |

the guy asked me to stand outside while my car was on the hoist then when im walking out i told him to do it right this time around i geuss this pinched one of his nerves so he runs out behind me and gets in my face and tell me if i ever talk to him in a poor matter(in which i wasnt) he will take care of it.
after that i went off on the the guy telling him to hit me but being the pussy he is he didnt i even went up too him and inched him on still nothing so i called up some buddies after that things got worse and cops had to come.
the fag douche was showing the cops my exhaust system and yellow head lights trying to get me ticketed because he knew law so well lool but the cops where very nice didnt say shit about it and he ended up fixing the exhaust properly(cops told him too)like a lil bitch he is but 4 hours had gone by. such a waste of a day. |

| i always go to tims muffler in leduc, decent prices, can always squeeze me in, and barley charges a dime, i baught my exhaust of a buddy from an old probe, got it in 3 peices, the back peice wasn't the right size, about 2 feet, he put the mandrel bent pipe in and welded it all up from the downpipe back for 100$ i had it back in less than an hour. |

OMG, Tims wanted to charge our shop mgr 50$ for a O2 bung(not welded in, just over the counter), and quoted me 75$ for a 2 1/2" steel u-bend. Tims sucks! |

lol shitty deal, i guess it depends on what day you catch him on, lol i wanted him to put headers on in my old 93pgt and he told me it would be about 550$ i took it to abc muffler and it only cost me 245$
