Reaserching my H22Z1 Engine - Click HERE for Original Thread

Prelude21
Hey guys,

I've been trying to find info on my motor. It is a H22Z1. In my research i've found this out:

Some says its a Jap model
Some say an australian model
Others say its from spare parts used in the assembly line
Others say factory defect
and most people say there is no such thing!

Well it does exist, there are a very few others who have it. I also read that it may be the same as a H22A4 and that it has 10 extra HP giving it 200HP... Anyone know anything?

is that the euro r motor?

I think the h22z is when you get a new block from honda. but I could be wrong it's just what I have heard.

im pretty sure thats it. when you got a replacement engine from honda they labeled it "Z" for some reason.

Ya thats what I heard as well

Yah that is what i was saying. The blocks that were defective from honda were replaced with the z block.

I called honda canada and america and they said that the serial number of my engine and VIN of my car isnt domestic... they gave me a number to call Japan. So i'll do that soon but as of local sources no one has any clue

your vin isn't domestic? are you RHD? lol. you should definitely be domestic. the engine could have came from japan though.

I know. Thats what I said. When I gave them my VIN number they told me they couldnt look it up as it wasnt an american VIN number

So... did a shit load of research and this is what i found out... The honda dealerships are retarded and dont know fack all. The Prelude SE was only made in canada (which is what mine is)... now according to specs my H22Z1 is either a H22A with 200 HP and 165lb torque or according to a few sources:

jdm there are many different versions, all stamped H22A.
edm there is the h22a5, h22a7, h22a2, h22a8, h22b.
australia and new zealand got an h22z1 as well.

But if my car was made factory like this that would tell me they ran out of the canadian parts and used the australian block. I also found out that the H22Z1 generates 220 HP and 167Lb torque and the H22A Jspec engine with over 235 HP... The difference between the engines is a larger bore and piston, larger bore in the throttle body intake (from 60mm to 60.3mm)and a larger exaust (1 1/4" manifold, 2" down pipe) and a high flow cat and a 10 - 11:1 compression ratio (depending on model) and a better air intake...

So this leads me to question the following... if they changed the block, did the rest of the components inside too... what my compression ratio is and with me running a throttle body spacer, 1 1/2" manifold, 2.5" down pipe and a high flow cat, and injen air intake with k&N what my motor is actually generating for HP and torque...
