I'll be more likely buying a $3000 clutch here pretty soon, so no new wheels. Keep the old wheels for now & get them cleaned up.

I'd like to attend and display my car at the show, but don't know anyone or any groups to go with lol

You don't need to be part of a group. Solo entries are here:

bubsy12
May bring it out tonight, roads here are not like T.O so it may be tooo low to drive safely without fuckin up the frontend (probably have to adjust the coilovers)...

make sure your car is clean. i was suprised how many dirty cars were at DTP calgary (not that many but there shouldn't be any at a car sho)

Geofux
I'm going paintballing on the 14th .. otherwise I would be in. Unless paintballing goes down the drain I won't be going.

I will probably be there... wish i had something nice to put in the show....

Well my car is definatly clean... and the car is way nicer then it was brand new. I honestly dont think it could possibly be in better condition, but it could definatly be faster. All show and little go... for now anyways... cant wait for the supercharger...

flatboy
and the admin form said less than a 1/4 tank of gas also.

stupid imo, but they might be checking:dunno:

All trade shows say that but they never check

eclipse.soul
oh damn really? how come?and what happens in the case that we have more than a 1/4 tank of gas?

From all the trade shows I have been a part of, its an insurance thing but honestly they don't check. I've had many times where the vehicles in my booths have had full tanks and nothing was said nor did they inspect them. You should be fine but you may want to double check with the show organizers just to be safe.

joker
The 1/4 tank rule is a fire code, it stands for all vehicles that are brought in.
While we do not check the cars as they are coming in we remind everyone that it is required as they are rolling in. Should you choose to ignore it you will being doing so at your own risk

Dan_s_young
Wish my car was ready. DTP is the show I would really like to have my car in...

But I will be there spectating. :(

so you don't enjoy the site of a nice looking car? you can't walk around and appreciate the hard work and dedication people have put into their cars? i agree that cars are built to be driven but your comment just seems unnecessary and out of place. not everyone cares about what their time around stratotech is.

Shut the fuck up.

If you don't like it, then don't spend your time replying to this thread.

Dumbasses like you are the reason that the scene is going downhill.

He runs the racing events at Stratotech. Just because he doesn't like car shows doesn't mean he can't respond to the thread as well. Nowhere in the title did it say 'DTP - only respond if you're attending.'

go touge your fc off a cliff and fucking relax.

he just wants to see the cars perform not just look pretty.. whats the point in showing off show cars that cant perform? just because you have colored wires and all the plastic or crome doesnt mean shit if it cant work on a track.

any who i'm working and cant attend it sucks. enjoy to those you can.

I completly agree. Both scenes serve there purpose. However ignorance doesnt, but theres always that one person that likes to be. We dont go knocking people in the racing aspect, so why insult us. Oh well...

If you can't appreciate both sides of the coin and respect the talent/work/money for both communities then your not a car enthusiast. Your just an over opiniated wanker.

to me it's like the guys who call themselves car enthusiasts but only like camaros or civics. a real enthusiast has an appreciation for everthing, it might not be your favorite but a nice clean car is a nice clean car. that's why i love seeing all the cars at powerama (namely muscle) just as much as DTP. to me the growl of a 572 big block sounds just as sexy as an 13b screaming around a corner.

Elitists piss me off.

Texmex
im in, will be my first car show i am participating in. just a question though if my car is entered can i still walk around and look at other cars, or do i have to stay with mine?

You can bugger off home if you wan't man.. If my car was going in though I'd be sitting there with a lawn chair and a bat though..

Which is why i don't want my car in this year. People can't look without their fingers touching.

Texmex
cool. ya i will be with my car, but i just wanted to know i could walk around if i wanted to.

SpeedwayRacing
I don't have anything against cars that look good. I just have no interest what so ever in sitting around doing nothing for hours on end is all really. I have yet to get in a single lap at statotech because I am to busy helping the scene and giving the people here a chance to run their cars legally. I also have my own personal opinions about the way that trophys are earned at the DTP events that makes me unwilling to even attend them.

Its my opinion if you can't take that. You are the one with the problem not me.

What you just said is a little different than your first post..

SpeedwayRacing
It would be in my best interest to be at DTP. Because the track events have very limited returns sales wise. But if I ever did attend it would likley be to support the NASCC. The cost for space at DTP is actually more then I would have to pay at powerama and I don't feel its worth it. Being a shop puts me in a little different position then it does you guys.

Our cars are also real race cars so while they are not really concourse quality. Why bother showing up with a real race car when you have guys like speedtech with seemingly unlimited budget and a army of pretend race cars that are a lot more interesting to look at.

again, your posts are coming across with an elitist attitude. i don't like reading this "poor me, i'm not going to win anything anyways so why attendt" or "our cars aren't good enough". it's bullshit. if you would have come to DTP calgary you would have seen conroys car there and how it got more looks and praise then any of the cars we could see around it. fully stripped RACE CAR!!!!!! and he won an award too, there is dent, chips and imperfections all over it but people do appreciate that wether you think they do or not.

and don't feed us this bullshit about pretend race cars, there are alot of cars at the shows that are build primarely for speed and handling, once the owner was happy with where their car was in those aspects the show aspect was approached.

you sound like one of those people that says they hate a certain type of food without trying it.

don't get me wrong, it's nothing personal and i have alot of respect for what you are doing with the scene and i am all for legal road racing. i plan on getting out there myself once there is a weekend lapping event because i would love to get some feedback on my driving from some people more experienced and talented then I. I'm just stating my points across so you can see the other side of the coin.

Couldn't agree with you more. Liz and her staff need to get their shit together. What an embarrassment. And the list of excuses I kept getting. "She's late because she was up all night, she won't be here because she is doing this, blah,blah,blah........"

You run a fucking show, you post up the times when people can get their passes and you decide to show up 1.5 days late, don't leave ANY paperwork or passes for anyone else to give out to the PAID exhibitors. Oh but the ugly ass t-shirts made it on time!

Wheeler
Hey guys, I'm in. I registered back in early May before my car was 100% complete. But it's all up and ready. This will be my first ever car show and like a few others on here, I'm going solo. I'm not affiliated with any group or club. I just browse on here once in a while.

Texmex
does anyone know where the closest car wash(loonie wash) is to northlands? cause i would like to drive the shortest distance possible on friday with my car clean.

any help is much appreciated

Wheeler
I believe there is a Hughs not far just on 118th ave.

ChromeDragon
Yep, right on the corner of 118th ave on Gretzky Drive north.

AudiInProgress
I'll be there with balls on!

thanks

I say try to appreciate all aspects of why people are into cars. just because you don't agree with how an event is run or what the majority of vehicles are there for, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it or gain something from that event still. it also doesn't mean you should hate it. bottom line is a car event promotes cars and most of them are pretty damn positive, so the end results are a pretty good promotion for car events in general.

you could always build a demo car too, something that goes good, but still is in good shape.

Fuck, roll in was awesome:)

How come it can't be that easy at the Powerama? I mean I know this show is alot smaller but everybody you talked to actually knew something.

Spots were marked out, our names were on the list, like goddam WOW, and everybody was friendly too - go figure.

I'm just really taken cause I almost got myself punted from the Powerama show this year for going off on a couple of the show disorganizers.

Can't wait to get to the show, its goina be a good time. Stop by the AFI Preformance booth and say hi.

And I'm liking our luck being right by the door. :)

It was pretty good this year...

Is it just me, or was last year bigger? I was only really around 1 truck all of last year, so I don't remember much

I would have liked to see more jacked up trucks, but that F-350 was sick.

I was around the Kal-Tire booth most of the time, next year I'm shooting for 1 of my cars to be in it :)

i actually found the show really weak. lots of wasted floor space, $15 tickets, the only thing going for it was the stage shows. i stayed maybe a hour, and found myself bored. it was well put together, from a planning point of view, but the actual show was lacking big time. i think this is the last DTP i will go to. unless i enter my car next year. models were hot though.

also nice to meet matt for a few seconds, and and talk to a few familiar faces.

I agree with you on this year's show. Some of the Models were bored as fuck as well. The show didnt have a great atmosphere this time. Talked to one model for a bit and she told me the show is 'dead'. Another model I know told me about Calgary being way better. I hope I can convince her to come to Edmonton again
 .
Overall the show was alright and I'm still glad I came. Here's hoping next year can top it. :fingersx:

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out and supported the show, both those who entered cars and those who just came to check out the show.
Special thanks to Aaron, Ryan, Jason, Dana and Greg for repping 780tuners, your cars all looked great and were a fantastic addition to the show. Thanks again for all your hard work getting everything together, I know it takes alot to get cars ready so much appreciated.
I also finally had the pleasure of meeting Rob which was cool, sorry I didnt have alot of time to talk Rob. I did feel like I was coming up alittle short standing next to you.
So whos coming to Winnipeg...

AudiInProgress
Nice to meet you as well Jeff, and good to see Mike tagging along behind like the bitch he is, bahaha!

Feel the love!

There were definately some nice rides there. I agree - there should have been more trucks.

Edit: someone needs to post pics of the models, I didn't stick around to see any of the stage-antics, wondering if it's as bad as people say?

Texmex
i'll be in ontario around the time of the winnipeg show, so i'll either try and enter or just go and check it out. it all depends if i can get away for the whole day.

I'd love to go to the 'Peg, since the car scene there is awesome, but I probably can't get the time off. Bummer, since my cottage is 3 hours away from there and we could party there afterwords...
