Anyone else get there Property Tax Assesment?
My house was assesed to a value of $341,000 up from $204,000 last year. Crazy shit, tax hike didn't hurt too much @ 168/month.
edit. SE Capilano area. |

It'd be interesting to hear where you guys are living too, as the housing market was hit differently in different areas.
$225,000 - $360,000 (downtown loft - warehouse district) |

It says that on the sheet of paper somewhere?
I got a thing in the mail saying I owe an extra $1500 or something for taxes... But I've never had to pay before?

| Does your mortgage include your property taxes? Cuz that might be why :dunno: |
|

| If you pay w/ your mortgage you should still get the assesment from the City. |

| Assessment jumped about $120k I believe, can't recall where I set it at the moment. A co-worker's taxes jumped over 25% to nearly $6k. Although his place's "value" jumped from like $520k to nearly $950k. |

I'm off in the deep NE (Clareview, right near the river).
The amount of tax I paid went up around 10% or so.
I'm really curious to see if they'll reduce home assessments next year, since property has gone down, and raise the mill rate to compensate. |

Just remember, before you go bitching, unless your property increased in value more than the average, your higher assessment won't affect your taxes!
I've heard so many people bitch about this over the past few months... it really pisses me off. Mill rate isn't hard to understand. |

All I am going to say is that my property taxes went up 48% from last year. WTF!!!!!!!!
I live in Riverdale, but my God this city has too much dick up there ass.
And yes we are going to appeal, it is fucking ludacrous.
After watching Global news and the city councillors talk about the issue, I want to beat the shit out of some of them. How do they think this makes any sense.
WTF!!! |

I don't think Riverdale tanked like most other areas in the city over the last 6 months. That means your property taxes went up 50% (maybe $1300 a year?), but your house is still worth a fortune compared to what you bought it for. |
