| Prelude21 |
| DTP... June 14th.. who's going? I sure as hell am. Be kinda cool if at least some of our club would go to it... No offence but it would be a pretty lame ass club if no one went to any shows... especially this one... |
| Prelude21 |
| Also... really makes us a club? I've been in the city for about a month now... I've been to 4 meets... or what sort of are meets... When I got carded by Adam... I thought what better way to meet people with the same interests as me then to join a prelude club! Well... so far i've met 7 people... 3 of which dont even own a prelude, but still made it to our "meets" My point is... I work, I have a girlfriend, I have obligations, I live as far south as you can get but for a couple hours once in a while I'm making time to come... why? well for the fact we only get a couple months of the year to do this, to enjoy the cars we love, so why not? I know that as per most clubs you are required to show up to meets, to shows, to events either ours or other clubs in order to be called a car club. I think this is a great idea, 14 or so members with people with the same interests, and dozens of other ludes in the city to recruit but if no members actually do anything... why would other people want to join this "club"? Sure not everyone has much, or any work done... but what does it matter? By yourself your just another luder, but together numbers speak, we will get some attention and we can make this a great thing. I know this might piss some people off, but its really not ment to. Hell some people may want to even kick my ass for being the noob thats talking shit... well fine... but honestly people would have to show up to a meet to do that. My point is if I wanted to loiter on public property by myself and stand by my car... I really dont need to be in a club to do that. My goal of all this is to encourage people to come to meets, attend shows, big or little, but to do it as a club and earn the title of being the Edmonton Prelude Club. |

im going to try to say this and not sound like a dick since your new. this club use to be massive. like meets use to have 10-15 preludes every friday. the original creator of the club darcy changed jobs and he ended up moving across the country. club participation had already began to plummet due to the prelude losing popularity. the club went through a very slow time. meets were much like right now. 2-3 cars if we were lucky. the club was basically falling apart ever since darcy left. mike took the club over for a bit but then moved to vancouver so it was handed to me. the last few months have been hectic. we had a website i worked very hard to put up and get hosting/ getting a site designed. it looked nice, had all our info on it, etc. then the hosting company lost contact with me and we lost the domain/ site completely and had to start from scratch again. this was maybe a few months ago. since then we came back to 780-tuners hoping to get some more traffic in a effort to increase our numbers since this site is popular. we had maybe 2-3 regular members period and we tried to hold the club together and so far we have been doing a decent job considering the circumstances. You joined at a time that we are in the process of rebuilding and doing whatever we can to get our numbers up. we just went through a name change too. we were prairie ludes for awhile to try to gauge intrest in other provinces like sask and manitoba but that didn't go to well. we had 1 good meet in saskatoon, but that seemed to be the end of that. i had to fork cash over to get new decals printed, i was in the process of getting busness cards together, etc. now we are back to square 1 and its unfortunate but its the way it is. member numbers are up 200% this year. I am actually quite surprised/ impressed the club is growing. meets have been decent as well. just the last few months its been hectic for at least me. i just got my car back and put together. its only really been driveable for a week or 2. ask anyone im usually the first person to go to a meet its just ive had things going on that have landed smack in the middle of a meet time and its been driving me crazy. i like to get out and go on cruises. its what i built my car for :P we are really doing our best. hopefully you understand :) just rebuilding takes some time. |
| 2ndgenlude |
| and on a side note i am going :) we could make a meet out of it. |
| Prelude21 |
| I can understand with the circumstances how things can be slow right now, and that it would be super difficult to rebuild from square one. Thats why I posted this. I'm sure there are other people like yourself that are doing all they can do and others who's cars are getting work done... But i'm sure there are people that are not doing as much as they can, MYSELF included. I want this club to succeed, and I want to help out in this effort. I dont however think that just giving people cards and telling them to come to 780 is the best way to do it though... Everyone here as a current member HAS TO make a serious effort to do anything we can, and that includes (anyone with a driveable vehical) doing the big meets. The things like the DTP. What better way to get our name out, rebuild, and encourage other luders to join? Like I said before, I dont want to insult anyone or put people down because i'm sure theres a lot that goes on that I being a noob do not know about. I respect the idea of this club and the people in it, and thats the only reason I felt I needed to say this, because as an outsider looking in, if I didnt see the potential in this... I wouldnt be here. |

i know where your coming from. i see it too. we were actually entered in DTP and i ddid show my car even in stock form to show support. truth is we don't have enough cars in decent condition to compete/ show. well maybe now we do but i know i need body work before i start entering car shows. here we are at DTP
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...on/IMG_0394.jpg
e just didn't have the time to prepare. i stil have our massive banners we could use the next time we enter a show. we have all been thinking of ways to get the word out but its harder then you think. unless you have some ideas. we did do a food bank drive one year and got our name on the radio though :)
clubs been around awhile and has been through a lot. its just time to step up our game a bit. |

| walkur1 |
Well said... I've been thinking that for a while, and I totally agree with what you're saying. For me personally, I'm all for the meets once a week, even bi-weekly if that would get more people out. Stuff like DTP though is another thing, at least for me. My car is nice, and I love it, but it's nothing to park in a show and pop the hood... if I had money, trust me, I'd have the thing restored to new. But I don't, and probably never will. So cruises are one thing, but shows is kinda hard for people like me who are a bit more casual about their cars, but still love them to death.
Anyways, I'm glad you brought this up, because I think we do need to make an effort to keep this club together, especially by having everybody at meets regularily. |
| Prelude21 |
| Cool. Well I can see what I can do. My buddy is part of Creative which is extremly successful... I'll see what he thinks too. So how many ludes do we have that are in nice enough shape to enter the DTP? For the $50 it takes to enter we get 2 free passes worth $15 each... so anyone that has a decent car should show up. We can use the banners, Do up some cool flyers even. I have a color copier at work which i'll pillage without hessitation. I have a buddy who may still have some free web hosting too, so i'll check with him. One of the models that will be there is a friend of mine... so if we can pull her away from the super bad ass cars then maybe we can get some attention that way. We do need at least 5 cars to come... and out of the 14 or w/e members on here... i'm sure we can find it... If there's me, you and we drag adam into it (if you wernt comming, well i'm volunteering you now), then i'm sure theres AT LEAST two other cars on here that are nice! |
| Prelude21 |
| BTW Walkur1... your little comic strip... I had a truck in front of me the other day that had the same signal timing as me... I wanted to get out and try that... haha |
| 2ndgenlude |
| i don't think we can make DTP. its only 2 weeks away and for one my car is a disaster. engine bay looks nice but i have a big dent with paint transfer on my rear quarter. looks like i washed my front bumper with sandpaper, etc. i don't know if they would even let me get in lol. we could definately set up a booth for the next show though. when we entered scc for example we had a projector and a motorsports video with chairs so people can sit down and take a look at our flyer. worked well. |
| Prelude21 |
| Fair enough... So maybe DTP is a wash... however I do hope i'll have a little company while i'm there. On the same note... I would definatly like a EPC decal for my lude for the show... if nothing else maybe I can still find some new members or at least get the word out. |

| Prudz_lude |
I am going to go ahead and say i felt like i was one of the only ones actually working my ass off trying to get people to join the club. I have talked to so many people about the club and have tried to get every one of them to check out the site. Everyone i have sold parts to or have spotted driving a lude i have tried to get them to come to the site. We "ALL" need to do more than just leave cards or hand a card and say "join the club" and leave. Start a convo, explain what we are about, and make them feel welcome.
I would love to enter shows as well. I know Nathan and Scott both feel the same way. They both were telling me today that they feel that the senior members should be making an extreme effort to make it out to the meets and both brought up the fact that a club has rules and has meets that must be attended. If you can't once in a while it is understandable but try to make it out for most of them. I just think we really need to keep the meets going strong this year. The club has been at a weak point for the past 2 years and excuses can't be used. It is our effort as a group that needs to improve to keep the growth coming
Tyler, please send tyler the EPC logo. Scott has not made them yet since no design has been given to him. Also, what colours do you guys want? White, Black, Silver, Red, Blue? Suggest, Scott can make almost any colour. As for the logo itself the old one is great still so i vote we just use it. |
| 2ndgenlude |
| i can't find the jpeg file. i could give you a old decal though. if that would work. |

It has to be the file. Scott needs to upload it to his computer. Search Tyler lol |

If I had a turbo lude, I'd be able to find the .jpg. Or at least make a replica.
Kidding Tyler... I could get my sister to make us another one if we had to. |

| Prudz_lude |
| Do it, i am already paying for the decals, i don't want to pay for the re-design of the logo as well. |

| What should I ask her to do? What resolution does it have to be? I'm not sure how good she is with just plain logos, but shes a photoshop guru so I think she'll manage. |

| Hook me up with a white or silver and i am happy, preferably silver. :D |
| walkur1 |
| I'd take a white. |
| Prelude21 |
| I'd like white but prefer silver as well. I definatly think we should use the resources we got ATM and go from there. Save money for the important things. Also our banner, i think at our meets we should put it up just to draw attention so people might have some interest why we are all in a parking lot. On that note I do think we need a more public, more central place to meet. Gas being $1.40/L and not everyone living on the far north, being more central may encourage more current members to come and new members to join. As for a big meet I do think we should talk with all honda and or Acura clubs and do our own little event... Do the food drive thing... Call up as many radio station as we can and get as much publicity as we can. Sure it wont be directed to just Luders, and there will me civics... but we can just rope those off from us... haha |

Thinking big, i like it. I really do agree with the meet location. It is not the most central of areas and i know that most of the club is now located on the southside. More than half i believe. There is actually are parkade on campus of the U of A. At the very top we could host meets there. Scott and I have been chilling there so many times and have never been kicked out. My buddy Ryan and I were ripping my mini bike for 40 minutes at the top of it and nothing. Sound location for sure, and you get a view of the entire downtown skyline. It is pretty much dead center of the city. |
| walkur1 |
| I'd like to see this place... sounds sweet. Does your bike fit in your car? You should bring it if we decide to meet there. |
| Prudz_lude |
| it infact does fit in my car lol. |
| Prelude21 |
| Yeah I vote for the next meet to be there. Speak of which... whens the next meet? We should do one if its nice this weekend so we can discuss ideas and get the ball rolling fast... the summer clock is a-tickin. I also think everyone, with or without your lude, should make it. Unless you've got something sooooo important that we cant take an hour out of your day. |
| 2ndgenlude |
| i would love to but this is my schedule. im getting pissed i have shit to do on meet nights. tonight i have to go to a grade 12 grad, tomorrow a bday party and sunday help my grandpa with something. i could probably show tomorrow and skip the 1st part of the party. show up later. do like a 8pm meet where adam mentioned. the main reason we meet at the air museum though is we have permission from the owners to meet there. they were even doing construction in the lot and still let us in 1 day. they have been very accommodating. but if a new spot is needed, i guess its needed. |
| Prudz_lude |
| next meet we should meet at air museum and then i will drive all of over to the parkade. |

| Cool sounds good to me. Air museum to the parkade. Is everyone cool with Saturday say 8:30 if the weather is decent? |

| I'll try to make it out, I'll know tomorrow. Had plans already, but I will try my best to change them. Cruise there sounds like a good idea. |

| I'll try to as well, I get intimidated since y'all got these clean ass rides and mine wouldn't even be near as clean until I get my bodywork done around the middle of june :p |

| Prudz_lude |
| whatever, no one judges. Your lude can't be nearly as bad as matts old lude  that thing was a mess tearing it apart with Scott. I now know why matt hates preludes. |

So I'm bringing my Prelude back from Vancouver on the weekend. Im not sure if I'm going to sign up for DTP or not. Who all is going?
If theres a decent amount of people going I'll go. |
| 2ndgenlude |
| i think just prelude21 is. noone else entered. i need body work before i show it. |
| NightmareMX6 |
| Next year I think I'll show, but right now I need to fix the rust, finish the kit, clean my tails and some other shit. But we should all meet somewhere and cruise to DTP, park together and enjoy the show  |
| mike3 |
| If 1 or 2 other people from EPC will go I'll go as well.... Come on... |
| Prelude21 |
| I have a feeling that i'll be on my own... meh oh well... no competition for best prelude in show  |
| mike3 |
| If theres no competition, they won't have the award. Im guessing there will be at least 1 or 2 other preludes there out of EPC. Im assuming they will want at least 4 or 5 to have the 'Best Prelude' Award. |
| Prelude21 |
| Yeah... I really hope there will be. Cant wait... my ludes going to look amazing. I took the day before the show off work to give it a serious clean and polish and make sure everythings perfect. |
