Best way to find boost leak - Click HERE for Original Thread

Altezza
I have a boost leak on the GT-R and i'm just wondering if there is a easy way to find it.
I will find it if I didnt ask this question but I figured there would be a couple people here with some idea's that I could use.

Make a boost leak tester.... I made one from some PVC piping and a air compressor nozel. You could probably get away with something as simple as some silocone piping and a lid off some jar that will fit. Just seal it up properly.

Remove your intake, fire the tester in, throw a guage on your air compressor and limit it to 15psi......don't go any more than that. Charge your motor to 15psi.

Grab some dish soap/water and spray around your engine bay.... You will eventually see bubbles.

It should look something like this.....

Thanks Aaron I will give that a try.

NP alex... You could borrow mine if you like, although owning a boosted vehicle I think everybody should own one of their own.

Agreed to having one of your own I will make one but if I need any help I know who to ask.

Oh Aaron one issue I have 2 intakes is I can rig up 2 of these leak testers but how to hook up the compressor to both of them? Wonder if there is some kind of splitter coupling I can buy.

Yeah, or just cap one off and throw the tester on each individually.

Best way to fly. Either that or test "backwards", pull the hose off of the intake manifold and blow air towards the turbos.

Altezza
I think i'l just cap one off less of a pain in the ass.

If you cap one side off, you wouldnt have to test both individually. If there is a boost leak, air will escape from the hole no matter what intake you pressure it from.

That wont affect or harm anything ?
Reason for asking is this is my first turbo vehicle.

No worse for them than blowing air through them on the compressor side.

Yes, unless his boost leak is directly after the turbo. Or possibly the turbo itself (crack, seals etc)

I would run it on both for an ease of mind.
