Speeding/exhaust ticket. - Click HERE for Original Thread

Jigaboo
Heres the scenario, I do not deny any guilt, and am not deflecting blame at all whatsoever.

Driving down Anthony Henday, don't see cop car in ditch, he pulls me over for doing 134km/h, but he's a nice guy and decides to give me an "excessive noise from muffler" ticket.

I was speeding, and without a doubt my exhaust is illegal, as I'm only running open downpipe.

Now, the $115 is due on June 3rd, and I have a photoradar ticket that I got reduced due on the 2nd. Basically I can pay one or the other; what do you guys think are my best options. I've heard that the sheriff department almost likes to "head hunt" for cars/ people that have gotten off easy (which I technically did) and still choose to fight the ticket, is this true in the least?

In the end, I know the officer cut me a huge chunk of slack. So is it possible to get more time to pay, or would the only way to get more time to be to plead not guilty which would in turn lead to me "fighting" the ticket?

Thanks for any help guys.

Normally I just don't appear on that first date stamped on the ticket and then I pay the ticket plus the late fee and service fee come time to re-register the vehicle.

If you want to do it a more proper way you can show up on the date, you'll stand in front of the Judge or whatever (out here in the boonies it's a judge.. can't remember who it is in the city) You plead guilty, he'll ask if you can pay right away or if you need time, you tell him you need X amount of time and why(make sure you have a decent reason, aka student about to find some summer work, etc).

You could do what SilverNeonRacer stated, but that is going to add on about 20-25 bucks in late fees...

On the back of the ticket explains this, however, you could mail in (if you want to save a trip to the court house) a "not guilty" plea, prior to the court date of course. they will set a trial date. on the trial date, talk to CP, indicate you want to plead guilt, and ask for time to pay... In the case of the exhaust ticket, you probably will only get 1-2 months for time to pay, however you would have killed about 3 months in the process.

GOT BOOST
Fight it and let the sherrif's head hunt you. It would make things more interesting.
