Recommend me an independant financial planner - Click HERE for Original Thread

Lococoin
I am interested in hiring a financial planner to review my portfolio and to go over my financial goals. I would prefer to find one that I can pay hourly vs one at a bank that will try and push the bank's products down my throat.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

try an independent rep for an unbiased institution such as...

Strategic Financial Concepts Inc - www.sfci.net

I would recommend a person named Goran Ogar, a financial planner that my father has worked with. Mostly he works with financial planning as it relates to wealth building and investments. Either way I recommend him from personal and family experience. His website is linked below.

There is nothing wrong with using WFG as a planner. Working for them is another story but their services are as good as other Financial Planners. they use the same banks and lending companies as other planners. There is nothing shady about what they do with your money. I am using them myself.

i'll be going trough world financial group for life insurance and a savings plan. i'm also training to work with them as well. as far as i know, no scam there, and it's a part of a HUGE company in the states, cannot remember the name off top of my head.

How do Canadian Western, Raymond James and Investors Group stack up?

Have you googled WFG?

It's not a "scam", however they do promote shady business practices by hiring uneducated people in the field, "encouraging" them to recruit family and friends and general deceptive practices to get people recruited/investing in them.

Just like any other business, there will be good and bad people. However, the odds of finding a bad employee at WFG are higher than other institutions (CIBC, RBC, TD, etc...) because of their business practices.

I think it's a part of Aegon.
If you don't mind, did you get universal life, whole life or a term policy?
