Looking for AllTerrain tires - Click HERE for Original Thread

seevik
I need new tires on my 4runner, looking to get 31'' AllTerrain tires for some offroading and daily driving/winter beater. Wondering where is a good place price wise??? And i would rather get them locally, not online, but if there is a good online place, I might consider it.

If by "allterrain" you mean the BFG AllTerrain tires, Tire Warehouse sells them.

FYI, the BFG use an ancient tread design, the tires are horribly balanced and every hick with a truck has them. Wear isn't great and off road performance is questionable... TOYO has much much better on/off road tires, well worth the extra money IMO.

what kind of price am i looking at, and where can i look for them? ill try searchign the internet.

Well it depends on how off-road you intend on going.
The Toyo Open Country A/T is the equivalent to the All-Terrain's. Open Country is much better on paved surfaces, but pretty close off road...

The Toyo Open Country M/T is a much more street friendly version of the BFG Mud-Terrain. The M/T can be driven on the street, the Mud-Terrain's would vibrate off.

You would have to check online for prices, I could only guess.

I ran BFG m/t's on my pathfinder, and they were pretty good. I have never tried the Toyo's, so I don't have a point of camparison, but compared to my Super Swamper Bias Plys, they were a godsend.

costco is the place to buy bf's. super cheap and include mount and balance.

Check out the mickey thompson atz's. Theyre cheaper than toyo and BFG and have a nice tread design. If your looking for something more agressive you can check out the mickey thomspon MTZ ;)

just as i read this, i was on my way out, and right in front of my car there is a FJ cruiser with these tires lol, they look sick

From personal experience and friends'. Currently running Dick Cepek Mud Country's, very aggressive looking, very good traction in mud, better in snow last winter than alot of all terrain's. Wear isn't that great, but I've done alot of road trips on this set. I'll be looking for another set in a few weeks when I go to 37's. Made by Mickey Thompson, very quiet on the highway.

Had Procomp Mud terrain's, look good, Not as good of traction, poor wear, cracking and chunking. Co-worker had a blowout, bad bead on the newer X-whatever series.

From co-workers, Nitto's have shitty wear, and were hella expensive compared to others when I priced out 37's.

Toyo's are the loudest Off-road tires I've heard

I would try a set of any of the Mickey Thompson's but I think they're ugly right now.

Opinions of BFG's you can ask any mom in a parking lot with an SUV.

Tire Warehouse has them cheapest. I bought 33x12.50 mtz's for $274 each mounted and balanced including gst. All the other places i checked were charging $300-320 per tire + mounting and balance + gst. The 31" atz tires should be even cheaper

Crap I wish I would have seen this a couple days ago. I just bought a set of MTZ's in a 33 x 15.5 and they where a hell of a lot more then $274 each.
