You guys are both wrong.
Laser jammers are perfectly legal in Alberta.
Radar jammers are not. |

| I don't think you're familiar with the product or technology you're giving advice about. |

Don't bother (I have one). One, they don't work unless aimed perfectly, or if they are drity (think winter) or if the lenses have too many rock chips on them (my current status). There's no good way to verify its working unless Blocker wants to lend us a gun :). Also, I've had the main module go out and due to the fact that the smarts are in the transceivers in the bumper and the fact thats there is no connector on the transciever (the hard wire is 20 ft long) I'll now have to unwire the entire setup to get it fixed. Plus, I don't really need it, it was simply a waste of money.
You are correct that unlike a Radar jammer whose radio transmissions are regulated by the CRTC, there is no equivilant regulation for IR light transmission. However, they could always try an obstruction of justice charge.
Simply slow down to reasonable speeds and get your fun on the track. Join a car club and autocross, hit road courses or simply pay the $30 bucks and go to street legal nights at Castrol. You'll never be able to drive your car nearly as hard or close to the limits on the street. |

| Radar jammers are illegal everywhere. Only the MILITARY has the need to use such equipment. Ever notice a little notice on all electronic equipment that says "This device cannot cause any interference, this deivce must accpet any interference" etc. ?:beathorse: |

Hmm... that's discouraging. I had high hopes of getting one of those, maybe next year. Yours is the first negative report I've ever come across on those units. |

Can't say we get too many jammers in the Army, either. We use lasers for rangefinding and guidance and stuff, but I've never seen a jammer around. |

I'm down as soon as I can get my hands on paint with carbon and aluminum microscopic flakes in it!
If you're interested in laser tech there are forums about it...
But stay away from radar jamming unless you want a world of legal hurt brought down on you, as the military doesn't appreciate stuff that can affect thier equipment. There are forums for that too, I'd imagine some of the interesting ones are in arabic. |
