Further to Blockers response... Underglows in general are considered illegal.
If you have certain colors you have a chance of fighting them..
Example, if you had an orange or white going across the front of the car orange down the front half of the car and red down the other half, then red across the rear at the back... as long as you cannot see the red from the front or the white from the back you could fight that they are the appropriate colors for the section of car.
By appropriate colors I mean:
Front:
-Headlights must be white(a yellow tinge like standard halogen is fine)
-Fog/driving lights: Driving lights must be white, fogs can be white or amber, but there are special situations in which you can use them. Fog's should only be used in combination with low beams, and under certain situations can be used without headlights. Driving lights can only be used in combination with high beams and must be off when high beams are not acceptable to use.
-Front markers/signals must be Amber(Alberta regs state they can be white.. aka a clear bulb.. run a white LED an there is a very good chance you'll be pulled over if it has any blue tinge at all)
Front sides, can only have amber, the exception is if you car came with those side flood lights that light up when you signal that direction)
Rear sides, Red only
Rear.
-Tail lights/brake lights must be red
-Rear signals can be red or Amber
-Reverse light must be white
-Plate light must be white. * note if your car is not in reverse the only white light that can be visible from the back of your car can be your plate light(exceptions obviously being a dome or map light inside the vehicle)
But as I said typically underglows are seen as illegal, and Blocker quoted what the tickets should be, for improper color/etc... but some cops threaten and try to issue stunting tickets for them. |

heh thanks.. I've spent alot of time research the light laws (I got pulled over for white LED signals up front, and I was pissed the officer had me pull them in the middle of nowhere, good 50km from anytown with a payphone, was -40, 2am, he said pull them or he'd tow the car... luckily I had stockers in the glove box just incase)
me and Dkjohns(sp?) on the boars used to have debates about the regs all the time, cause he would say the federal regs(which state you can only have Amber front signals not white) only applied to car manufactures and that we as drivers only had to worry about the provincial regs.
Hmm wow a 20min pause double post.. how'd ya manage that one? |
