Audi R8 crash - Click HERE for Original Thread

I feel bad for this guy. He's obviously well off enough to afford the car, but not rich enough not to care.

No, nobody die.
Shitty deal for the owner.

:dunno: meh he knew what he was getting himself into.

This is no different than the Z06 that hit the wall at the track last year...

Godzilla
i know exactly how he feels....

Prudz_lude
ROFL "Please don't hit the wall, Please don't hit the wall. GOD DAMNIT TIM!! GOD DAMNIT!!!!" hahahahahhahaha he so knows he will be the first person to crash their R8 on the internet

The guy deserved it with that driving. He took that turn way to fast. Didn't even look like he braked. Onto of that when he was flying backwards he kept the wheel in a position that would most definitely cause him to hit the wall. If he was smart he would have cranked that wheel to the rear end was not moving in the direction of the wall. Hell, he had so much time to do a 360 and recover.

Yah it is, it is also easy to get your car to turn the other way when going over 100km. I am talking from experience. I was going 140km spinning on the yellowhead highway. Scary yes, but controllable yes. I managed to just barely scrape the front bumper on the meredian. I ended up doing a 720 degree spin and recovered. To top it off i did all that at the top of the S curve on the yellow head in the north east so i was spun all over the place, not just in a straight line.

That guy had more than enough time to recover. Counter steering does wonders. That guy decided turning the direction of the spin and holding was the best way to get out of a spin...he failed.

Its also easy to assume you know what you are talking about before you know what someone has been through

Please tell me how you make traction on grass at speed oh magical wondrous Prelude driver of ultimate skill and destruction.

Thanks.

Prudz_lude
with wide ass tires like that guy in the r8. Don't even begin to tell me that if he would have counter steered it would not have helped his situation. He could have even tossed it in reverse to help get him out. better to fuck a tranny then fuck your entire car.

Riiight.

Your statements speak for your inexperience. Grass at speed is worse than ice, especially when you are going at the kind of speed he was at.

To be honest, the real problem looks like he went in too hot, missed his braking point and that was it. Mid engine, RWD car went he probably made the mistake of lifting and at that point there was nothing more he could do. I'd really love for you to explain to me how to transfer weight efficiently at a 150 KPH slide on grass going sideways.

That said, only the driver actually knows what really happened. Major bummer that such a nice car got trashed.

coldrsx
^tossed it in Reverse......BAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

fail

coldrsx
it was off camber as well as a slight incline so im guessing weight off of the rear just as he turned in...= bad tim, bad

mattEG
OH, and reverse? At speed? With a paddle shifted computer controlled Audi? What the flying donkey fuck? You really are magical.

Prudz_lude
Here is the proof douche. See the side swipe mark on my front bumper. The hood got bent up later because it hit my windsheild since the hood latch got damaged.

No need to insult someone because you couldn't drive yourself out of a situation like that. I still hit, but i got away with very little damage compared to what it could have been.

Rotate them yourself if you want to see them rightside up. I am to lazy.

are paddle shifters not "standard"?

mattEG
 Because your prelude sliding on pavement is anything like an Audi R8 at speed on a racetrack sliding on grass.

Again, your inexperience shines through the more you speak. But please Ayrton, tell us all how you would've saved it again, I love reading it.

You would think that is someone says they spun out at 140km and managed to recover and then posted pictures of the accident after it happened to prove they managed to narrowly avoid killing themselves, someone would realize maybe he actually did manage to recover...The fact is, i did manage to recover from a terrible spin. So yes, i think i can put my input about him fucking up especially not trying to counter steer and call him an idiot.

When you spin out i hope you do what he did and just hold the wheel one way. Then post again so i can laugh.

It isn't exactly the same obviously, it is still a bad spin out. Aren't you the guy with the red eg civic?

Not going to lie, i agree, it was 3 years ago when i first got into car. Definitely not my prime moment. Did i ever say i was an amazing driver? Did i state that i think i am hot shit? Nope, i believe that was Matteg.

"standard" or "manual" means you choose when/where to shift....clutch doesnt not have to be present IMO.

So what you're saying is you are basing your whole argument, personal insults and all on the fact that your completely different accident was recoverable? Cool.

And yea, I drive a red coupe, what of it?

Well it is a shame your opinion means nothing because a standard car has a clutch. Lets not mix words up either, paddle shifters are a form of a manual transmission.

that red turbo one right?

What i find so fucking funny is this all started because i said he should have been able to recover somewhat and some douche decided to say "Ohhh magical prelude pro driver knows all" and someone said "it is easy to be a race car driver behind a keyboard" and i gave my personal insight on what i have been through in a SIMILAR situation.

You guys seem to have trouble understanding what insight is. Go look it up if you really need to. You guys seem to think i am trying to defend my driving skill when i am not in the least. If i was would i have posted pictures of an accident i was responsible for?

I don't drive a turbo hatch, you're mistaking me for someone else.

That said, what I find funny is that you seem to think you can waltz in and declare the poor fellow in the R8 completely wrong solely based on your own experience in a completely different situation. It's OK though, I don't really need to say much else you're doing all the work for me now.

Flames aside, you should come run at a lapping event, it will really show you what is and isn't possible in a car, especially when there is elevation change, grass and other things involved like in that R8 video.

Your doing all the work yourself. Once again, learn to read. I said i am not some highly skilled driver. Great, you take your car to the track alot. I don't. If i came out i wouldn't be driving my car hard until i was sure i could handle it. You know, the way you are suppose to drive a car.

the heads up race on the yellowhead sounds like a good idea........

I'm just going ot chime in here for a breif moment then will let them two go at it again.

If counter steering on grass was so easy and you're capable of missing a wall while sliding on grass, wouldn't you think that F-1 drivers would be missing walls/tire walls all the time? I don't think your at all right about the grass traction argument Prudz_lude. Sorry.

Dude, we're all faggots for pointing out the obvious, remember? Only once we've got a certificate of attendance from the u of a, a super license from the FIA and a sweet bent up prelude will we be as knowledgeable as Prudz.

there only one way to settle this guys. adam has to do 150kms on a grass field and we will see how he counter steers it before flying of the cliff into the north sask.

It's easy to say you saw it coming even before you watch a video titled "Audi R8 Crash"
Would you have known it was going to happen if the title were "Amazingly awesome wicked talented driving"? I definitely do not think so.

Are the capabilities of the Audi R8 comparable to your vehicle? How did you know this was going to happen? Are you familiar with that track and every dip and dive associated with each corner?

Haha I'm just bullshitting Rob, but we can keep the trend going and e-battle to the death if you wish?

SpeedwayRacing
Prudz_lude, I feel I should let you in on something. MattEG is a experienced race driver and has several years of ice racing under his belt. He also placed in the top 5 in all the races of the western Canadian finals thing year racing against drivers that have been doing it for 10+ years. If you would like to see video proof of his driving ability watch this. Its a video of the 20 min race that ends the season. The car is a EG hatch running unstudded Blizzacks. The car is going over 130km/h in the faster sections on a polished ice by the end of the race. Matt won the race, and he is nearly 50 hp down on the VWs he is racing against. Which also have about 5 years more development time into them.

http://www.speedwayperformance.org/...ll%20length.avi

I think you should get a clue before you dig your hole the rest of the way to china. I can get more videos for you even in car ones if you like.

Prudz_lude
omfg....do you guys all need to go back to highschool and take english over again? Seriously, where in the fuck do i say i am a great driver? Where do i say matt sucks at driving? where do i say i would out race matt? WHERE ARE YOU GUYS GETTING ALL THIS SHIT??? That includes you Speedway. Before you go along wiht all the flaming why don't you actually take the time to read what i posted before you try and make a worthless post? (i'll clarify what i mean by worthless, Completely off topic)

Why don't you get flamed? Ice vs grass? There is a huge difference there. Once again, congrats to him for winning but i could give a shit less about his personal success driving. God damn people learn to read.

Lmfao I just read this whole thread. I wish there was more.

In relevance to the video, that really sucks for the guy. It's really a terrible feeling when you have to just sit there and wait for the inevitable thump. Anyone who has been in a winter car crash has had the same feeling.

In relevance to everyone bashing on Prudz, the guy was just offering up his opinion. Give it a rest.

And about the paddleshift.. isn't that pretty much like tiptronic, but with paddles instead of a shifter? Aka its just an auto gearbox that you tell when to shift? In which case.. its all run through a computer, which I doubt would allow you to just suddenly dump it into reverse.. for obvious reasons.

Well even if it was manual, putting it into reverse wouldn't work. Think of the gear ratio on reverse, it would probably top out at 40-60km/hr. Your going to skip your timing belt/blow HG/epic valve float when you pop it into reverse and the engine goes to 12 000rpm...

Anyways, stop picking on Prudz.... how many of you bench racers have driven an R8? IMO the guy probably lifted the throttle too hard in the middle of the turn causing horrible understeer, which he tried fixing (but failed) and turned into awesome oversteer. DRIFTO BABY!

Some of these guys know zero about how a car handles, weight transfer, etc. That's fine, I don't know very much in comparison to the guys I learn it all from, but still... think before speaking, christ sake.

Lifting throttle=front dives. Force is applied in the direction of travel (not direction wheels are pointing) , car goes straight.... understeer. Front regains traction, rear kicks out (because all the weight had transfered forward)... snap oversteer.

Looks like he was trying to hard to catch it, and not paying enough attention to the track. I think he may be newer to track racing, and could have had smoother steering input at other places in the video, like 1:27 and 1:31.

it's all about smooth inputs people! you're not carving a hill on a snowboard here, you're racing a car to it's limits on a track.

quite a boring video:dunno:

The Stig
I agree that it appears he had never been on the track before.

On the track or not, we've all made mistakes, some minor some major. For the track, that wasn't as bad as it could have been, of all the places to wipe out, he sure picked a safe one! (See all the cars driving by after him? They were either laughing, or sighing hah)

He took that corner way too late and too fast, and going up over a hill, while braking, and turning... I still cannot figure out how to correct it once he got it sideways, other than turning the wheel the complete opposite way he did to enduce a spin rather than slide... dunno - and it bothers me!

I was so proud of the Viper though.
