Quote on stereo system for 2004 Mini Cooper S - Click HERE for Original Thread

Lakerfan32
Below is what I'm looking for. Could I get a quote on each stage, including installation?

Car: 2004 Mini Cooper S – no Harmon Kardon stereo, no navigation system

I don't want an extremely powerful/loud system. I'm just looking for a good sounding system. The following are the stages I'd like to go in but if the total price is reasonable, I'd do all three stages at once.

Stage 1: New head unit and retention of steering wheel controls.

Requirements:

* Head unit must be able to play iPod and other USB devices.
* I want to retain the stereo controls on the steering wheel for use with the new head unit. I've seen some kits that work with Pioneer and/or Sony decks that do this.

Price:

Stage 2: Upgrade speakers

Requirements:

* Set of reasonably priced component speakers for the front ~$200
* New speakers in the back ~$150-200

Price:

Stage 3: Subwoofer and possibly an amplifier

Requirements:

* Small sub (maybe 6-8 inch) that fits under the seat. I don't want to have a box in the back at all. A powered sub is fine. I'm not looking for massive bass, but something to augment the low end of the speakers.
* If an amplifier is needed, it should go under the front seat.

Price:

Thanks.

Just to mention.. on your stage 3, I sure hope you get an amp to power that sub.

I've seen powered subs, but in case that's not an option (or is crap), I'd get an amp too.

Oooh okay, so your thinking of something like those bazooka subs with the internal amp. You can do that, but it tends to sound like crap.

Have they gotten back to you yet? If not, PM Shawley on the forums here and he should be able to help you out.

Just so you know.. you'll hafta put the factory cd player in for any sort of service on the car dealing with the OBD.

What's the OBD? Right now, the cd deck doesn't control anything but music. Nothing else is integrated into it.

best way is to come see me at the westend location then we can go through your different options. The mini is not too hard to work on a good buddy of mine has a cooper s and we made that thing sound very good and at a good budget.

On-board diagnostics.. you can't do anything without the factory cd player. Just a heads up when you bring it in for service.

Fucking BMWs, eh?

He's right, you need the OEM deck in there for OBD testing or anything at the dealer.
