GOT BOOST
Pretty easy job.

Tools required.

Ramp or axle stands
Floor Jack
Drain pan
10mm hex key socket
1/2 Socket drive
10 mm Allen wrench for torque converter drain plug
17mm 1/2 socket for torque converter fill bolt
13/16 socket to remove the drivers side wheel
Funnel with a long spout for filling the torque converter drain bolt
Gloves
Shop Towels
Torque wrench for wheel lugs.
New Transmission Fluid (according to your vehicle specs)

Total time to do. 2 hrs, but that was including taking photo's, cleaning, taking more photo's. With out taking pics and screwing around...45 min to an hour.

And the pics.

Loosen the drain plug to the transmission pan.

This should be red. :D

Wear nylon or latex gloves under the normal gloves. :D

Jack the rear up to let the rest of the fluid drain,

GOT BOOST
Loosen the torque converter with the 10mm Allen key. Good luck fitting a socket in there.

Removing the filler plug

Wheel removed and adding new fluid to the torque converter. :D

Just wear latex/nitrile gloves instead of both.

Remove the fill plug before you remove the drain plug on the torque converter. If you can't get the fill plug off and the drain plug is already off, you are screwed.

Just wondering, how many km on your tranny? Did you use Toyota ATF? Ever plan on doing a pan drop and filter?

I prefer to use both.

A lot of the times the bolts/nuts I loosen require a lot of force to remove them. When they break, well it is not so easy to stop your knuckles from hitting other parts. The gloves act as a nice padding to absorb the shock. :D

Good point on the filler plug. Had I not been able to remove it, I would have towed it to a shop. :D

There are 243,500 kms on the tranny. I used the walmart tech 2000 fluid. All the fluid needs to meet a min requirement and this one was Dextron III, etc. I believe the the pan drop and filter were done last time about 60-100,000 kms ago. :dunno: In 2 years or 30,000 kms I will drop the pan and clean the filter. It works fine now.
