R34 Skyline GTR and R32 Skyline GTS-T - Click HERE for Original Thread

Army Fork
Looking for an R34 Skyline GTR, preferrably stock with a manual transmission, and in good condition for a friend of mine.

Myself, I'm looking for a R32 GTS-T Skyline, stock and manual transmission. If the price is right I'll take an automatic transmission.

if anyone is seeling or has a tip on either of these cars PM me, model year isn't a big concern. But I have to know Engine and body mileage and location of the vehicle.

Jadran
there are special laws that exempt the Skyline obviously

Drave
Well, you import every single part separately, then build it yourself. durr.

Ya. I saw a guy driving one in terwilliger. I asked him how he got the car here and he said it was all taken apart over in Japan and a buddy of his put it together in a shop that does swaps and shit. I think he said it was EZ sports or something.

right....

here are how there are R34s in canada:

1) illegally imported
2) imported for race: never street legal, must leave the country in a set period of time. seriously GL bringing one in under this method.
3) imported by an automotive business for demostation: never street legal, must leave the country no later then 2 years after imported, not sellable or transferable.

there is no street legal R34 in canada that i am aware of. i am aware of a couple that the owners claim to have imported legally and have registered legally, including a NUR spec in vancouver, yet they refuse to say how they did it or post a chassis code for it. it all very hush hush on their end, so obviously there is a good chance something shady was done, and it really isn't legal.

btw, stripping one down to a bare chassis, and reassembling it and actually getting it certified as a kit car... that would cost about $200,000 all said and done at a rough estimate for a normal R34 GTR. so its not an option and no one has done that to get a r34 into canada to this date that i am aware of.

Dude, you ruined the thing we had going on! :asshole:

Yeah man no fun.

But I seriously did get an offer on one. But it's most likely illegal.

As for the search I may have to call it off, I've been getting some news about people who have had their registrations revoked on their Skylines due to the headlights being illegal somehow. If anyone has any information on it, please post, Thanks to rexxrally for first bringing this to my attention.

Just make sure your headlights are DOT approved and you'll have no trouble with this. Anything else you hear would just be rumours.

zhao
lol ya i ruined it but i've been watching this thread since 15 minutes after he first posted it and couldn't hold out any longer.

there is nothing wrong with buying a R32 skyline and nothing preventing you from making it 100% legal, just understand what u are getting into.

headlights need to be dot for the OOP only, but once hte OOP is done, OEM headlights are legal for street use. as far as i know, its the traffic safety act that reads "dot OR original OEM equipment headlights". thats the law that affects a car after it is registered.

if the OOP is recalled or you change provinces, you will always need DOT headlights for the reinspection. they can be retrofitted with headlights from any car as long as they are secure and function (they do not haev to look pretty, old accord headlights are a pretty close fit though). this is not really a concern if the vehicle was passed thruogh a legit inspection before. if it was just shadily passed as is fresh off the boat which most curbers do (and some importers) then you might be looking at fixing a lot of things if you get a recall notice.

daytime running lights should be hooked up also. if they aren't and the car has passed a OOP, taht should be a huge redflag that that car has never been properly inspected. daytime running lights are only required for the OOP though, i do not beleive they are required under the traffic safety act, so in theory you could disconnect them after the OOP is passed.

skylines also need light up sidemarkers installed to pass a legit inspection. its not really a big concern as its not that hard but another item to consider. many have the original rear spoiler removed also, and are thus missing a 3rd brake light. 3rd brake lights are required for the OOP also. its not a difficult thing to install, but is pretty common that is something you will need to install. its not uncommon for skylines to have the original JDM tires on the car, which usually are not DOT. taht will cause you to fail a legit inspection also and you will be required to buy new tires.

Army Fork
It's nice too have someone actually give decent information for once. I've never bought an import before, so I couldn't know this until now, thanks for the information.
