Creatine or Hydroxycut or just protien? - Click HERE for Original Thread

rocklee_86
Hey, I've been reading up on monohydrate creatine and hydroxycut, and it looks like the effects are counteractive.

My situation is i'm trying to build muscle, and the only supplement I take is protein powder after I workout.
However, at the same time, I'm also trying to lean out some of the fat too (ESPECIALLY around the lower abs). To do this, i do about 2 days of cardio a week, along with my ab workouts (and usually play basketball during the week too).

So, would either of these products help me with my goal of adding muscle while also leaning out fat?

It looks like creatine (in moderation) is an effective way to build muscle, but will it help at all in helping me burn fat also?
I'm only trying to gain a little size, and I'm more interested in strength and getting leaner.

And will hydroxycut make me lose too much weight?

Or should I just stick to the protein and maybe add some more cardio? (my cardio workouts consist of interval training, i.e. plyometrics, sprinting, and stairs)

Any help would be really appreciated.

P.S. my eating habits are generally pretty good...I eat a lot of protein (eggs, tuna, etc.) and I eat breakfast almost every day (usually just meal replacement cereal or All-bran though).

If you're trying to gain mass, don't use Hydroxycut or anything else like that.

The more muscle mass you gain the faster your metabolism will get.

i see, so basically if I start taking creatine it will help with building muscle mass, increasing my metabolism and ultimately help further with leaning out fat?

Does that sound about right?

Yes sir.

what EDISKRAD EHT said sounds right! and you are right that hydroxycut and creatine will pretty much counteract eachother.. I have always supported creatine, and in my opinion it's the most gains you can get besides steroids so I would definately recommend it. I'm using Creatine Hardcore from Muscle-tech (bought at GNC) and I love it.
To add... I have been trying the same thing as you... and have found that the most simple advice I recieved turned out to be the best. Eat many times a day, and keep the portions smaller. This has been THE best way for me to keep my metabolism way up and shed the extra little stuff. I didn't find it all that hard to follow either, since I eat most of the same stuff I did before, just spread it out a lot more.

The only way to put on a decently noticable amount of muscle while staying lean is following a strict diet for a lonnnnngg time. Otherwise your going to need the excess calories to build muscle.

I know a couple genetic freaks that somehow despit not working out or eating anywhere near great maintain a lean and musclular appearance .... but that pretty rare.

I have an incrediable hard time putting on mass.. I started working out at 150-155ish and had to eat my way (often at almost 9000cal/day) to get to the 240 im now so I know how hard it is having to eat that much and still try to not look like a fat mess.

Diet is going to beat any supplements you could ever take for results. If you can dial in your diet well youll notice a change within a couple months and it will be a drastic change.

I would contact some trainers that train bodybuilders to help you with your diet (if you have some extra $$ around). Trainers that train BBr's know what its going to take to get you big and lean even if you never have plans to compete. A trainer is also good for accountabilty as they will be great for pushing you. I would reccomend Big Ron Paltrow but I dont know how to get in contact with him anymore .. Brian and Donna Louge<sp?> are pretty decent too and they train alot of *cough *cough competitors lol ..

Hydroxycut got changed about 7 yrs ago also(health board canada) I guess some people were over doing it and falling over with health problems. Its not as good as it used to be, i will say that, ive tried both and the new stuff is not as good. But if you still want to do hydroxycut head to the states, as far as I know its the good stuff still
