This past Friday night... - Click HERE for Original Thread

I just wanted to pass on a message and some thanks for those of you who were in attendance on Friday night near the Leons at 50st/Whitemud Drive.

For those of you who were not there; a number of members from this website, and other groups were having somewhat of a 'meet' near the leons store in an industrial area on Friday night. Eventually, myself and about 8 other co-workers showed up in police cars to check up on everyone. We blocked off the exits to the parking lot so that no one would take off on us and we proceeded to check vehicle and driver documents for the approx. 30 cars that were there...

Anyways, the Friday night previous to this, a number of cars were reported to have been racing on the straightaways in this same area. When a couple of police cars arrived, a bunch of cars took off and one lonely vehicle was stopped and checked. Because of this, we decided to check up on everyone the following weekend (this past Friday night) To accomplish this, we decided to utilize a few more police resources and conduct a proper 'mass vehicle-stop'.

The point of all of this was first and foremost to ensure that there was no dangerous driving/racing/stunting occuring in that area and secondly to make sure that all of the vehicles that were there, were being operated lawfully and were able to be on the road.

I hope that we were all able to answer some of the questions you guys were throwing our way in regard to exhausts, bumpers, ect. I'm sure everyone went running to the muffler shop the very next day.... :p

I just wanted to say thank you to EVERYONE for their cooperation with this. Every person had a proper license, insurance and registration for all their rides, which was a good thing. To make things even more positive, there were very few grumblings about being stopped. It was nice to have met with all of you, and left you, all on good terms.

Anyways, thanks again

I'm just curious, were tickets handed out, or did the officers just tell owners things to be aware of that need to be changed on cars to be fully legal?

I had gone home before everyone went to the leons ...

As well, if a car is parked at a lot where questionable activity is occurring (but not participating) what are the grounds for being impounded?

Good to see someone on the other side of what was happening post

curtis_rak
I can't say 100%, but I dont think any tickets were issued to anyone for equipment violations.

As far as the seizure of vehicles from lots such as these; typically police have the power to seize a vehicle from any kind of lot as long as it has public access. Most parking lots would fall under the category of a "highway" as defined in the Traffic Safety Act.

In this case, police have full authority to conduct a traffic stop in these types of lots to enforce any type of provincial act and, obviously, to conduct any type of criminal investigation.

Nice to finally meet you Curtis. All the cops there that night we're really good.

And no, nobody got any tickets.

Was good to see you again, Curtis. The way your "team" handled the situation was appreciated. Its odd to not see a bunch of Officers together without being on a power-trip.

Yeah... Thanks Sherlock.

I figured that much, but I mean, seems everyone knows him rather well... I've never met him? What does he drive?
