Oaks just made more powa...simply amazing. Time to hopefully break have a prelude 9's instead of 10's

872hp is great... but 485 ft.lbs is embarrassing.

It's a 4 banger, what do you expect? You're not going to get massive torque outa a 4!

Haha well the RATIO is embarrassing...not the 485 ft.lbs. Thats more TQ to the wheels than a fuckin Viper dude!

That is a pretty ignorant statement. It makes its power higher in the rpm band. Lower torque means lower chance of breaking parts.

If torque won races, indy cars have no business being fast with only 202lb/ft of torque. Thats right, 740hp and 200lb/ft.

TQ spins HP wins. - you can ad area under the curve to that as well.

This is dependant of the bore and stroke ratio, displacement and boost. Number of cylinders plays no role in how much torque an engine makes. Just look a a typical long stroke 2.4 SRT motor. They have comparatively high torque compared to an oversquare honda motor.

Prudz_lude
almost 500 ft lbs of torque in a fwd car is way more than enough. getting that much to the ground is going to be even more impressive.

I know oh wise one. But you cannot disagree that it isnt easy making a 4 put out large torque numbers, boost or not.

Yes it is, but on a small displacement engine it requires boost regardless.

This is a simple stage 3 SRT engine. 300hp/300tq. That is the same as the Northstar V-8 in my fiero.
http://www.mopar.com/srt_stage_3.htm

Look at the area under the curve. It makes a lot of power and isn't peaky at all.

Add more boost and boltons and you can get this, on pump gas no less.

652hp and 540lb/ft.

540lb/ft from a 2.4L 4 cylinder.

Here we go, lets ad a 2.6L stroker crank. Now we are making 442hp with 622lb/ft. That is a lot from 4 cylinders I would say.

I hardly had to search to find these examples, if it were hard to make a 4 cylinder make big torque then it would be rare, right?

And that northstar V8 was stock correct? Soo thanks for proving my point. I consider "easy" as a v8 can make that amount of torque with no modifications, while maintaining reliablility and SMOOTH POWER DELIVERY for daily driving.

I never said cylinders effects torque, but strictly commenting on how PSI laughed at 485lb/ft from a 4 cylinder. Because that is impressive.

Guaranteed getting 300lb/ft from an SRT-4 is easy as compared to swapping a V-8 into my fiero. I bet the SRT-4 is MUCH more drivable then my fiero, considering it has a factory tuned ecu.

Point is, it's easy to get torque from a 4 cylinder. Just depends on the 4 cylinder in question.

And lets leave it at that

Guys, killing the thread much

I just thought it was a nice change to see a different honda pumping out some crazy numbers and hopefully a new world record in the upcoming months.

What's the record? The world's fastest Prelude? ...That's like the world's smartest person with down syndrome.
It's taken all these years for Preludes to "hopefully" get into the 9's!?

There is already a Canadian who broke 9's with his 3rd gen prelude. However, the class that Oaks racing and md23vtec (a guy from honda-tech that competes with oaks) race in requires full interiors along with alot of other strict conditions. 9's have been made but the car was gutted/stripped and went against these conditions.

This thread wasn't made to turn into a flame fest. If you want to make fun of a car with this much custom fab, almost 900whp, work and dedication poured into it go for it. You could never do what those guys have done on their own.

Fair enough (not that i would ever want to because there's much, much better platforms to start with), but neither could you!

It's not meant to be be a flame, i had a 5th gen after i sold my civic Si. I'm just surprised it took so long considering there are so many people and teams out there with so much money.

AudiInProgress
Fake - the wheels aren't even moving!

Fazda
even my probe has way more tq than hp. stock 145whp/190wtq
with a couple mod's it puts you up to 200whp/275wtq

Just seemed like you were trying to flame. I know i could not build that lol. I think very few people could.

IDTrav
Jason Budd's lude broke into the 9's years ago. 2G not a 3rd gen.

Not sure if this link still works but nitrous line ignites and sets the bitch on fire.

Fire

Prudz_lude
Yah that is the one. I thought it was the 2nd gen just wasn't 100%

euro_ftw
